SYC July: matchup denim, low contrast & lite

Yesterday I did a summer version of double denim with black. Several wanted to see a lighter version, so here are 2. I could also do matchy white denim. I'm not confident about the ivory Express top worn here. It has a banded waist.
1/2: Same Aeropostale jeans and Hinge vest as yesterday. Express top, Coach pointy flat loafers. Calvin Klein belt.
3/4: same but with Old Navy white vest.
What do you like and what changes would you make?

ROG Inspired and Outfit Lab

Last weekend I turned to ROG for inspiration for an outfit with a skirt. ROG kept showing me ideas with a wool caramel skirt and a leopard tube skirt. As it is hot and all wool is packed away, I went leopard. ROG also liked the cream and black pointy flats and cream KS clutch/crossbody bag.
I played with various tops but the same skirt and shoes. Here are some results and I'd like feedback as to what you like and what doesn't work. What tweeks would you suggest trying? The only toppers are vests and a silk shirt because it was so hot.
1: with black EF assymetrical linen sleeveless top.
2: with black V-neck EF silk sleeveless top
3: with silk sunflower tee ( black background with large flowers and leaves in shades of yellow and green.). Pattern mixing with leopard skirt.
4: another black silk EF sleeveless top, here shown alone. It is also part of 5-8.
5: more pattern mixing with Citron silk monkey shirt over black tank.
6: EF long stone assymetrical sleeveless shell over black top.
7: same as 6 with added EF long stone vest.
8: same as 4 with added black vest
9: shiny silk beige top

Chocolate Capri Pant Styling: Take 2

Today I played in the closet and tried on mostly sleeveless tops with the new brown capri pants, trying to use suggestions from the first post.
1-3: citron or gold
4-6: bright pink or orange. 6. is an old VC cold shoulder top that has some brown stripes.
7 is white
8-9: black EF tops in linen and silk
10-12: blue. 10 is EF linen. 11 is Martin+Osa linen. 12 was plucked from the ironing pile. It is my chambray shirt (BR) that now seems too fitted.
I'm sorry that I've yet to make custom finds for most of these.
I would love to know what you like and what you don't.

June Challenge: The old maxi

Yesterday on the thread asking what is the oldest item in your closet that you still wear, I had to admit to still having this 80's Carol Little set of long wrap skirt and she'll that I have worn ( very seldom now) as a 2- piece dress. It mostly lives in the holding zone while I consider having it shortened, but am not sure it's worth it.
1: top tucked
2: top untucked ( kind of like this proportion better)
3: tucked and belted
The fabric is a wash and hang dry rayon. The pattern is reminiscent of an animal print, black and coppery brown dotted areas.
What do you think? Toss? Shorten? Wear as is? I need some help on this.

June Challenge Continues: the styling of the new. The monkey, snake, Princess shirt

I realized that I have several pieces new to me that it has been too cold to play with until now. So this week my challenge is to find some ways to style them that are YLF approved.
First up is the newest, an eBay win of a Citron of Santa Monica shirt, patterned with palm trees, monkeys, snakes, and Princess. Today I am wearing it with rolled faded jeans, a black tank, orange clutch and my gold/bronze loafers and belt.
1-2: the shirt worn buttoned and untucked.
3-4: the shirt semitucked.
5: a scarf to fill in the neckline.
6: neckline without the scarf
7: back of shirt
I would love to know your preferences and other ideas for styling this new piece.

Would you ever wear a man's tie this way?

I saw this picture in the weekend Wall Street Journal magazine and want to try wearing a man's tie like this but am concerned that it may be too weird. What do you think? Would you do it? Should a more colorful tie be used?
To me it looks like the tie is folded in half then put around the neck and ends put though the loop end like a Euroknot. The loose ends look like they are tucked under the jacket. All this is on top of the collar of a buttondown shirt. It may be the pattern mixing of geometric print tie, tweed jacket and shirt with thin stripes that appeals to me.

ROG outfit with pattern mixing

ROG came up with this outfit that pushes my boundaries but still wearable, I think. To be fair, I still need to photograph my wardrobe, especially patterned pieces. ROG used a floral jacket that I have filling in for the Citron brand cotton kimono/shirt in similar colors on white. The suggested bag is a large light grey ostrich texture that was downstairs when I took the photo.
Jeans are Paige; plaid shirt is Xhileration; pumps are Me Too.
Would you wear this combo out? Should I?

Reality/Fantasy Challenge

For my fantasy life I don't possess the kind of clothes I'd like. I also would want a slimmer, younger, more hourglass figure to go with them. Photos 1-5 are as close as I could come. I'd like to flutter about in beautiful fabrics but doesn't really desire a life of leisure. I'd like to be busy in a creative field but making a difference.
Photos 6-8 are what I am wearing to teach a class, go to coffee with a friend and go to a women's group this evening where we will be making center pieces for an event. The last photo is the same outfit with my long black vest. Is this better.
I welcome your comments. Oh, and the long cardi is a K/R. Love the color and cashmere fabric, but what do you think?

Trying red pants with leopard and with blush

Recently I posted that I struggle with styling a favorite pair of red pants. Right now the weather is perfect for them. Debbie suggested an animal print top. 1-3 is a sleeveless version. 4 is a sheer long sleeved blouse that moves around too much without some kind of topper.
5 is a layering of blush tee and jacket. The blush is darker than the photo indicates, more of a midtone.
What works? What doesn't do you have ideas for improvements?

WToW: Help needed

These VC red rayon pants are wardrobe orphans, too thin for cold weather, too warm for hot weather. Today should be perfect with layering.
The problem is that I will need a topper.
1: no topper. Blouse is cut too low so layered over a navy silk top.
2: EF ink cardigan
3; JJill linen navy jacket
4: denim jacket
5: ETA Linen blend blazer, Evan Picone
All toppers are thrifted. Do any of these work? I'm open to any suggestions you have as to how to wear these pants
