Are These Dated?

I found these still hanging around my closet, probably because
1: they are ink, not black
2: they are a high heel for me but very comfortable.
Are these on trend for spring or just too dated? Not only the wide heel to consider, but the rounded square toe shape. What do you think? I'd love a pair of navy pumps to wear this spring but now to your wisdom.

WIW:Casual Pearls. ETA: Longer tee under pink sweater & a blouse

The last couple of days I've been enjoying pearls. Here are a couple of examples. Too much in the first outfit? Are the sweaters too short?
In the second outfit I turned the blouse collar in so it didn't interfere with the pearls. Does this look odd? Later I changed the ivory under layer for my asymmetrical EF bone silk tank and liked the result better but did not get a photo. Is the shawl collar sweater too old?
ETA: other versions with same pearls.

More ROG Fun

In my ROG inspiration thread, Bonnie comented that she gets crazy outfits when using ROG.  I get them too but they can still inspire an outfit.

1-2:  What ROG suggested, including my house slippers, gold metallic jeans, striped tee and plaid shirt.  I liked the tee and plaid shirt together.

3.  How I used but changed the outfit for a cold snowy day.  The top section stayed.  I wore dark denim Paige jeans instead of the gold and tall black boots instead of slippers.

4:  This outfit was modified for winter.  a yellow wool tee was subbed for ROG's idea of a citron linen tank; olive jeans for cropped cotton cargo pants, and grey long wool cardi for a shorter one.  The quilted black boots are the same.

5:  Outfit showing the yellow tee thrifted for the wool.  It is going away.

6-7: ROG suggestion of black and white stripe cardigan with leopard top and burgundy jeans.  Actually this is not as bad as I thought it would be.  I forgot what shoe and bag were suggested but think it was a nude summer shoe and a black and white satchel.

8-10:  ROG suggestion of leopard tube skirt with sequined top and peach linen cardigan.  Tan woven leather bag and red patent shoe. Again I got inspiration from the red with leopard or peach with leopard.

What do you think?  Anything worth trying here?

Inspiration from ROG

Most of the outfits that ROG comes up with for me include hot weather pieces, my own fault because I need to create more finds from my winter closet. I decided to use some ROG created outfits and switch warm weather items for something similar for cold weather.
1-3: the sweater and aqua bag were in ROG's plan, but it used my rayon blush blazer which I switched out for a JCrew blush stadium coat, blue denim Bermuda shorts became blue denim jeans, and pewter ballet flats were switched for pewter wedge booties.
4: a warmer long-sleeved winter white EF turtle instead of a silk tank. The rest is ROG's plan.
5: I wore a long sleeved tee under a pale grey open weave pullover instead of a bone tan; and olive skinnies were subbed for olive cropped cargo pants. The rest is ROG.
Do these outfits look ok? It is bitterly cold right now with some snow, so being warm enough is a priority.

Should I wear this?

The nubby poncho was a gift and I need to figure out some ways to wear it. Does this white out version work? Are light tights/stockings too much? Pearls? Earrings? I need your thoughts and ideas.

WIW: Neutrals Week

After all the color and bling of the holidays, I was ready for some calm neutrals. Here are a few.
1: The top is new. It's Jolie and a very soft tee, here worn with white Kut skinny jeans. I hope that it looks good, but I'm not sure about the white scarf, worn for a little warmth. What do you think?
2: Assymetrical black/white cashmere pullover. It's warm and cosy but a bit out of my comfort zone with the sharp contrast. Again, I'd love your thoughts.
3/4: my outfit and inspiration photo. I went light where Garance went dark. Does this work? I used an ivory shoulder bag.
5: Colorblock poncho coziness. This time I wore the poncho with grey jeans rather than black or white. Does this look ok, or should I stick with black or white?
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions for improving or changing up these outfits.

The tie scarf: an attempt

Last summer I came across a photo of this man wearing his tie differently and wanted to try it but it was way to hot. This week I looked through the very few ties I had available and matched one up with a striped shirt and with plaid jeans.
It was harder than I thought it would be to copy the look so that the widest part of the tie would show. I paired all this with a pullover navy sweater but a jacket might be better. Success or fail? I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

Thoughts on my Holiday Capsule

It is time to put away the strictly holiday items that are in heavy rotation between Thanksgiving and New Years. Over the time I've been at YLF, I've gradually moved from dressy formal pieces to mostly casual or smart casual ones. Now I am seeing that I also need to gather items that are not cosy warm...more cotton rather than wool. Our last few years of holidays have been too warm for much wool.
This year I was very happy with the variety I had, especially using Angie's ideas of making plaid, sweater dresses, and jeans look festive. I especially loved wearing lots of white and shades of white, pairing the with a bit of bling. Sweater dresses, my red wool suit, my beaded wool skirt and my tux pant suit felt right for dressy events as long beaded and velvet skirts stayed in the closet.
I really enjoyed wearing metallic gold and metallic blue jeans and a pair of sort of red/teal/black plaid jeans for casual events. It was fun to do sparkle on the bottom instead of the top sometimes. I think this was an Angie idea for Holidays 2014. I also liked a dressy top with regular jeans.
For next year I will watch for metallic booties and the right holiday long sleeved tees. A long duster to add dressiness to a casual outfit would also be welcomed if it doesn't overwhelm.
What did you like and not like about your holiday outfits? What will you do differently next year?
