WIW: Linen and sandals courtesy of my closet

Angie's linen ensemble and a warm day prompted me to pull this outfit from my closet. The linen pants are not white, however, so I used a white linen top.
Pants: Isaac Mizrahi for Target
Shell: Eileen Fisher textured linen worn over a lace-trimmed cami
Jacket: Eileen Fisher textured rayon
Scarf: a recent gift. It may be the Halogen one that Angie picked
Sandals: gold metallic Soft gladiator wedges
Bag: Fossil leather woven to look like straw (thrifted)
I finished with specs, gold MK watch, gold hoop earrings and gold rings and dainty necklaces. I think I'd like silver sandals, bag and jewelry even better.
I liked the linen natural color with white but would like white linen slacks that are not too thin. The EF shell is a bit short and boxy. Would it be. Dotter without the lace cami? Most of the summer will be too hot to wear both.
I welcome your comments and suggestions. I'd like to be able to wear Angie's ensemble look but probably need new pieces.

WIW: Una's Shirt

Una sent me a JCrew citron checked shirt posted on the Style Exchange some time ago. It's finally warm enough to wear it. The fit and fabric feel great and I can't get enough of this color this spring.
I'd welcome your ideas for ways to style this shirt.
Shirt: J Crew
Tank: linen EF
Jeans: Aeropostale ( thrifted)
Belt: Rack
Loafers: Franco Sarto
I need new sunglasses.

Street Fashion in Galway

We have not been in Galway long but I got a few street shots. Much is the same as Dublin...ballet flats, tartan shirts, shorts and dresses with black semi-sheer stockings. I don't think I saw any leather jackets in Dublin, unusual for Europe. However, I've seen some in Galway.
1: lots of fashion backpacks.
2: guitar player has on a plaid shirt.
3: this duo walked by as I was taking the last picture. Note distressed leggings.
4: this older lady looked smart in her metallic trench and shoes. Her cane was animal patterned
5: a couple of cuties out for a walk
Runcarla, if you see this, I didn't get your magnolia question answered from last time. I've not seen magnolias but will post flowers in Off Topic

Fashion Notes From Dublin

It has been interesting noticing fashion in Ireland so far. A few things:
* Lots of dresses with flared skirts of any length worn with black semi-sheer stockings on women of many age groups. I've also seen quite a few shorts with tights, sometimes quite distressed.
*. Lots of fashion athletic shoes ...on men but not on women except a few tourists. I do see young women in Cons, but most are wearing round toe ballet flats. These are often in bright colors or patterns. Lots of leopard. I've not seen one pair of heels in the daytime.
*." Hen Parties" are popular where a large group of women go out together, either dressed up for a night on the town or dress with a theme like tacky sixties ( hair in big rollers, etc.) or pretty dresses and big mustaches.
Jeans are tight, very tight. No colored denim but quite a bit of coated denim to look like leather.
*. Rainbow hair on all ages but not as many visible tattoos or piercings as I see in Kansas City. The weather here has been warm.
*.Cotton and rayon neck scarves on all ages, most in solid colors or woven stripes.

For Angie: Yellow and some Hong Kong influence

My mom didn't favor a particular color so I thought of Angie's Mum's and tried for yellow on Mothers' Day.
1: what I wore to church. I'd hoped that the citron of the shell would blend with the yellow of the Halogen skirt, but I'm not sure this works. I wore the jacket, so it didn't show much anyway. Cole Haan pewter wedges and Elliot Lucca clutch. Tank is EF linen and jacket is Wilson Leather.
2-4: what I later changed into to go to the arboretum. This is my nod to Hong Kong. Same tank and shoes. Capris are Citron in silk, Citron linen kimono- inspired jacket. The belt is from Target and turned a la Aida to show the studs. I wore a Celtic dragon broach (Smithsonian gift shop) on a leather cord to echo the dragon on the jacket. I hope it is not too much.
How can I improve these outfits? Do they work?

Packing: Part 2, the suitcase and what's in it

Our Ireland trip is this coming week! The clothing photos include what I plan to wear on the plane. I may still whittle this down more but this is getting close.
1/2 Coats: Grey fitted down sweater and cream rain coat with hood, also a couple of scarves and a little cashmere cap. Right now I plan to wear a ( not pictured) light weight Ponte black that goes with the black Ponte pants I want to wear on the plane (also my heaviest bottoms).
3/4: bottoms and the rest of my scarves: grey-green nylon hiking pants, black Pontes and light grey EF light weight pants that can be rolled to make capris or ankle pants if it gets warm.
5/6: warmer layering tops that could be toppers if the weather is mild: mint gear piece that looks good under the down jacket. Assymetrical zipper closure can be closed to keep neck warm or open for a collar. I also picked up one of these in cream that I've yet to return if you think that would be better than mint. Also on 5 are a grey cashmere crew neck pullover and lighter grey rayon V neck pullover.
7: other long sleeved layering tops: black EF pullover, print blouse and white REI thermal pullover.
8: short sleeved layering pieces: tec fabric green tee and silky poly gold tee. These are in case the weather turns warmer than seasonal. I may remove one or both.
9. Layering tank tops for warmth or possible sleeping. I've already removed the grey stripe. None of these are cotton, so quick dry. I plan to wear the black one under the black EF long sleeved top on the plane..lots of black but I'll add a scarf to lighten it up. Shoes were on the first packing thread...3 pair: black New Balance ballet flats, grey slip on quick-dry sneakers, and the waterproof La Canadienne short boots that I'll wear on the plane (heaviest).
10: my suitcase tote with all clothes in the packing envelope and all underwear, long underwear, socks, etc. in a half packing cube. Shoes are in there in zip-loc bags, as are the down jacket stuffed in a zip-loc.
11: my total luggage for about 2-3 weeks. The backpack holds toiletries, reading material, plane stuff like a neck pillow, scarf, raincoat, iPad, cords, meds, and more. Actually it probably can hold more than the duffle can.
What changes would you make? The weather is expected to be chilly, windy and rainy. What should I leave home? I appreciate your input and wisdom.

Inspired by Angie's Khakis, Tee, Blazer Ensemble

Today I shopped my closet, inspired by Angie's latest ensemble post. The khaki cargo pants have straight legs so I tried to taper and roll a little. I don't think that part is working very well visually, but they have stayed rolled.
I don't have sandals out yet and don't have Birkies or that style. I used an old pair of clunky Eccos for the look. They need replacing with something but I'm not sure what I want yet. The bag is an old leather hobo that I thought I'd purged.
Khakis: Target a couple of tears ago
Tee: Fendor
Blazer: Nygaard tuxedo jacket
Belt: Target
Sandals: Ecco
Your suggestions and comments are appreciated. Shall I get rid of the khakis? Would a more draped tee be better? How can I master this ensemble?

K/R: Cobalt Jacket

This Alberto Makali jacket was bought when the weather was too cold to wear it. Now I'm wondering if I should return it because it gives me big shoulders. ( I have IT tendencies.) I'd love your honest opinions. Should I keep it or wait for something better. It is a wild card piece.
Pro:
It is a good spring/summer/early fall weight
Good sale price
Nice drape
Good color for me but I have little of it
Wear with both light and dark neutrals and some colors
Con:
Fit???
Doesn't match anything
Thank you for your thoughts.

A new look for cascading cardigans

Somewhere recently I read about a trick to shorten long cardigans by wearing them upside down. This may have been in Link Love, but I can't find it. If you know of it, please add the link.
I decided to try the idea and took some quick photos of the results. I can see this working well with a dress or skirt.
It seemed easiest to manage by spreading the cardi on the bed, opening side up and top to the edge of the bed. With my back to the bed, I slipped arms into the sleeves and adjusted the bottom of the cardi around my neck like a shawl collar. What do you think? I have not actually worn any of these out. The cardigans used need to be fairly long. Shorter ones form a bolero type topper.

Knee Highs for warmth today

Today I wanted to roll my blush jeans and wear blush sandals, but it was too cold. Here's what I ended up with using Angie's trick of sheer knee highs with the more closed loafers.
Jeans: Kut
Tee: generic no name
Silk topper: Citron ( shrunk purposefully in the dryer)
Loafers: Adam Tucker for Me Too
Belt: Target
I'm not confident about the proportions here and the jean roll. Should it be higher or lower? I wore the kimono jacket buttoned up tunic style most of the day but didn't get a photo. Does it look ok open or too much like an open blouse? Thank you for your comments and help to improve my style.
