Trying red pants with leopard and with blush

Recently I posted that I struggle with styling a favorite pair of red pants. Right now the weather is perfect for them. Debbie suggested an animal print top. 1-3 is a sleeveless version. 4 is a sheer long sleeved blouse that moves around too much without some kind of topper.
5 is a layering of blush tee and jacket. The blush is darker than the photo indicates, more of a midtone.
What works? What doesn't do you have ideas for improvements?

I really like the dark jacket in the first pictures with the red, but am not sure the animal print is the best top under it. Maybe white? I do like how the light combination looks in #5.

I like the white combination, and I like the animal print top but without the black jacket. With the black jacket I'd put a different top underneath, as Shevia suggests. But the pants seem really versatile!

All outfits work well, Joy. I particularly like #5 with the blush because it looks more Spring-y.

I like the animal print and the red...I have had to wait for spring to wear my leopard skirt so I am considering it a neutral and wearing it as such...The blush and red is fresh and different...The darker jacket would work on a grey day like today...Somehow having grey skies and a white jacket with cool temps doesn't program..Either way, you look wonderfully chic...

I love the blush with the red...very complementary with your coloring.  I like the idea of the leopard print with the red, but this one is too dark to my eye.  I think a print that was more spaced out on a light background would be less "heavy" looking.

You look adorable! My favorite is 5 because it plays well especially with your coloring and looks like spring as Angie suggests. Agreeing with other's comments about the black jacket and sleeveless blouse combination. I do like the color of either of those items separately with the red pants just not the shapes together.

I really like all of these, Joy...and think the animal print top looks great with red pants, winner! I really love the modern look of 5, too. Great job getting finding ways to wear your red orphan! I have a pair of red skinny denim that Dont get much wear, either, so I'm taking notes!

I really like these, especially the leopard and red both with and without the jacket!  I am much less sure about the blush. Could just be my eye or my monitor.

I like 2 and 5 the best. Red and black look more like a winter pairing to me but I'm definitely no expert. What about red and grey? I love that combination.

I like both! These pants are very versatile.

#4 really captures my fancy. It might be the vest paired with the soft *frilly* blouse.

Two and five are my favorites. Do you have a sheer topper for two?

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you all for your comments.
Shevia and Thistle, I liked blush with the red but was not particularly satisfied with the look in 5. I tried tucking the tee but it just wasn't working.
Angie and grey at, I like blush with the red, especially the jacket. A different top may work better.
Jackie and Shevia, I ended up wearing the first look with the jacket because I needed the warmth, but I can see that the colors may be better for a Fall day. Do you think that a black/white striped top would work?
Kellygirl, I like your idea of grey instead of black.
Carole, Crutcher, AM, and Rachylou, thank you for your encouragement.
Missey, you make an excellent point about the pattern of animal print.

Debbie! A sheer top is a wardrobe hole. The closest thing I have is a sheer black buttondown shirt that possibly could be worn over the top in 2.

Oh wow. You have impeccable style, Joy! I like the first outfit best.

  • Staysfit replied 9 years ago

I like the first outfit best and I also like the blush. I think you now have two ways to wear your red pants!

I love the color of the pants. Just yossing an idea out- sometimes for me, chambray or denim shirts work as neutrals but also " magic colors" with colors or prints that seem to not quite go with other things. Like jeans in reverse.
