WIW: Neutrals Week

After all the color and bling of the holidays, I was ready for some calm neutrals. Here are a few.
1: The top is new. It's Jolie and a very soft tee, here worn with white Kut skinny jeans. I hope that it looks good, but I'm not sure about the white scarf, worn for a little warmth. What do you think?
2: Assymetrical black/white cashmere pullover. It's warm and cosy but a bit out of my comfort zone with the sharp contrast. Again, I'd love your thoughts.
3/4: my outfit and inspiration photo. I went light where Garance went dark. Does this work? I used an ivory shoulder bag.
5: Colorblock poncho coziness. This time I wore the poncho with grey jeans rather than black or white. Does this look ok, or should I stick with black or white?
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions for improving or changing up these outfits.

Ooh, #5 is my favorite of the bunch. DEFINITELY works.

Love all! Wouldn't change a thing about any of them. My fav is #3. There is an element of softness in all these outfits I'd never achieve.

My favorite is #1, although I like all of them. Angie did an ensemble of grey and white which was one of my favorites. I think the scarf looks fine. You could also tie the ends and make it into an infinity scarf.

These are all gorgeous.  #5 is my favourite - think perhaps the grey jeans being slightly darker than the grey in the poncho adds more interest than black or white would.  The light scarf in #3 definitely works... your hair in that photo looks great and this is a perfect example of bookending. Like the lightness and brightness of #1 but, to me, the scarf looks too lightweight for the outfit.  I think I would like it more if it were draped differently, perhaps like in #2?

Oh, I love all these; the top in #1 is really cool, love the pattern-mix in 2, and the silhouette of the last two. The gray jeans work great. The white scarf works, although with that pretty top, you don't need it - the shirt stands alone as an interest piece. YLF!!

I love all your outfits this week Joy, in particular the grey/grey/white one (I so so so love it, more than the inspiration).
I think the scarf goes well with the floral top.

Wow. #3 and #5 are Killer. And you are ready for Spring in #1. You are soooooo lovely, Joy.

  • MsMaven replied 8 years ago

#3 is my favorite as well, although #5 is a close second.

  • carter replied 8 years ago

    #5 and #3 are perfect!

  • Mirjana replied 8 years ago

I love all your outfits , but #3 is my favorite and #1 is also gorgeous , I think that are your colors, best for you. I love scarf in #3.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I may have to come back to respond to everyone, but I very much appreciate your input.
Angie, a Killer for #3 &#5! I loved Garance's wonderful casual outfit and am inspired to be more PPP. Her grey jeans are amazing. I bought the top in #1 for spring and can't wait to wear it more.
Belladogga and JAileen, that scarf in #1 is an unusual shape, flaring out in the center. I will try others, although they are more ivory, not the crisp white of the flowers in the top.
I am wondering if the sweater in 2 was a mistake. I have only worn it once. Should I not keep it?

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

I love them all Joy and 3 is absolutely amazing! I love the sweater in 2 and 4 is all class.

I think the scarf in 1 is gone but I suspect I would prefer it without it.

You are showing me how to achieve elegance and boldness and light in winter.

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

You are an inspiration, Joy! I love them all, but the drama of the last look is my personal favorite.

What about a necklace with #2?

  • Cerinda replied 8 years ago

What a wonderful week!  #1 is lovely:  had you considered wrapping the scarf around and letting the ends hang? I do like #2's high contrast, but why are you uncertain? do you think it detracts from your spectacular hair? I prefer your version to Garance's. And #5 rocks!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you Sally, Beth Ann and Cerinda, for your lovely comments.

Sally, I have been working on adding lighter pieces and more light neutrals to my winter wardrobe.  It has given it a lift.

Beth Ann, you know how to do drama.  Thank you.

Cerinda, lately I've wondered if high contrast outfits wear me and I get lost.  But this piece goes with so many pieces in my wardrobe and feels so cozy on.  I will have to try the scarf in #1 as you suggest.  I think it would work out well.

Such beautiful outfits Joy:). I love the neutrals on you and how they play with your gorgeous hair. The grey shoes are stunning:).

I love these neutral outfits on you.  They complement your lovely hair.  I think all the outfits are amazing but I am particularly fond of #5.  The shades of gray look so good together.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Deborah and Style Fan, for your comments. I had to go back and look at the shoes. These Trove loafers are very comfortable, although they make my feet look quite long.

    I really like #1 and #3.

#1's lovely top makes the outfit, for it is definitely the focal point and the neutrals serve as a great backdrop.

#3 is also a favorite of mine because I love grey and silver, and it's full of those colors! It is a very put-together outfit.

  • Bonnie replied 8 years ago

I really like all of these, but #5 and #3 are my favorites. I love the grey and white color combination and your poncho is super cute.

  • approprio replied 8 years ago

I agree with Cerinda. You look better than Garance.

  • Nebraskim replied 8 years ago

Late to the party but I love all these looks, esp. No. 1 and No. 3. No. 1 has such a playfulness about it and No 3 really plays up your hair and skin tones marvelously. Really lovely.

  • Colette replied 8 years ago

The gray jeans look great with the poncho! You are just super fab in that poncho. And I think you look great in the sweater in #2. I like the way you styled it with the polka dot scarf.
