The tie scarf: an attempt

Last summer I came across a photo of this man wearing his tie differently and wanted to try it but it was way to hot. This week I looked through the very few ties I had available and matched one up with a striped shirt and with plaid jeans.
It was harder than I thought it would be to copy the look so that the widest part of the tie would show. I paired all this with a pullover navy sweater but a jacket might be better. Success or fail? I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

How cool are you for trying something adventurous, quirky and different. Love this.I think your pattern mixing is key to making it work.

I think it looks really good! Both with sweater and (imagining) a jacket.

LOVE it, Joy. I think the look is more modern with the sweater.
Not sure about with the blouse alone.
Oh I need to try this.

Thank you for all your encouraging comments. I tried to describe how I did this but it didn't make much sense, so will try to take photos to illustrate.

How fun is this? I think you nailed it. Wish I had some cool ties around, but DH only wears one for weddings and funerals so we have like 3?
