WIW: Linen and sandals courtesy of my closet

Angie's linen ensemble and a warm day prompted me to pull this outfit from my closet. The linen pants are not white, however, so I used a white linen top.
Pants: Isaac Mizrahi for Target
Shell: Eileen Fisher textured linen worn over a lace-trimmed cami
Jacket: Eileen Fisher textured rayon
Scarf: a recent gift. It may be the Halogen one that Angie picked
Sandals: gold metallic Soft gladiator wedges
Bag: Fossil leather woven to look like straw (thrifted)
I finished with specs, gold MK watch, gold hoop earrings and gold rings and dainty necklaces. I think I'd like silver sandals, bag and jewelry even better.
I liked the linen natural color with white but would like white linen slacks that are not too thin. The EF shell is a bit short and boxy. Would it be. Dotter without the lace cami? Most of the summer will be too hot to wear both.
I welcome your comments and suggestions. I'd like to be able to wear Angie's ensemble look but probably need new pieces.

So fresh and breezy, Joy. Way to shop your closet! The white top or sweater is a nice interim solution until you find your white linen pants.

Oh, I love the tone on tone of this.  Your scarf bookends the pants perfectly.

Joy, you have the most amazing closet. It rivals Ms. Mary's. It seems you can almost always pluck out Angie's outfit of the day!

Your look is just spot on...Now why don't your linen pants look like pj's...They look amazing however, the ones I tried on last summer looked like pj's that I had slept in...Glad yours are so awesome...I have to search linen again...

This looks great Joy - the linen pants look so perfectly draped and I love the light neutrals for the warm weather.

Oh, thank you for your comments! Suz, I only wish I had a closet like MsMary! The linen trousers have been in the possibly donate pile. I'm going to see if I can make peace with the crease and if they are truly breezy enough on hot days. Today was in the mid 80's and they were comfortable, but will I wear them most of the summer in the 90s and 100s? I think a pair that can be rolled might be cooler.
Crutcher, these probably don't look like pjs because they have a waistband zip and button closure. I had some of those drawstring styles back in the 90's :)
Thank you, Angie. I love your outfit and ensemble posts for inspiration.
Thank you who noted the scarf. It was sent to me by my sister for the Ireland trip and was worn constantly then. I think it's the perfect spring/summer scarf.
Neel, the drape does look good, doesn't it. They are a soft, non-scratchy linen and a bit long so that they need a sandal with some heel. I wondered if they looked too long.

Oh I love this, Joy! You totally nailed the ensemble. The pants are SUPER, perfectly draping. They look fab with the flat sandals, too. I rather like the short shirt, it looks purposeful because it's just near the pants waistband; I don't think the camisole is necessary for length, can't tell on sheerness though. LOVE the scarf, that's just beautiful.

Perfect interpretation Joy!  I wouldn't change a thing, you look wonderful.

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

I love this Joy. Looks great for a hot day! You have some great EF pieces.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Aida, the waist band on these pants is high enough that I think the top could be worn on its own. The top is not sheer, the texture helping to keep it opaque.
Debbie, I watch for EF pieces on greatly reduced sale. A few like the shell are pre weight loss. I was able to shrink some in the dryer which is why this top is rather short when most pieces are quite long.
Thank you, Karie, Ceit, MuseumGal, Caro in Oz, and Tanya. The opinions of such stylish women is golden.

Beautiful, Joy! Tonal fabulousness. You look polished, cool, and summery. Personally, I like the flax colored linen pants you're wearing. It could be fun to have a more relaxed style in the white (like one that can be rolled, as you mentioned), for another option.
