For Angie: Yellow and some Hong Kong influence

My mom didn't favor a particular color so I thought of Angie's Mum's and tried for yellow on Mothers' Day.
1: what I wore to church. I'd hoped that the citron of the shell would blend with the yellow of the Halogen skirt, but I'm not sure this works. I wore the jacket, so it didn't show much anyway. Cole Haan pewter wedges and Elliot Lucca clutch. Tank is EF linen and jacket is Wilson Leather.
2-4: what I later changed into to go to the arboretum. This is my nod to Hong Kong. Same tank and shoes. Capris are Citron in silk, Citron linen kimono- inspired jacket. The belt is from Target and turned a la Aida to show the studs. I wore a Celtic dragon broach (Smithsonian gift shop) on a leather cord to echo the dragon on the jacket. I hope it is not too much.
How can I improve these outfits? Do they work?

Joy, I'm very touched you wore these fabulous outfits today. ((((HUGS))). You are beautiful inside and out. I can't choose a favourite. Both are wonderful in their own way, and make you shine brightly with a heart of gold. xo

I am off to walk with Greg in my new citron Nikes. Happy Mother's Day.

Your new citron Nikes are perfect for your walk today. xo

Both outfits are beautiful!! I really love your style!

Oh how cheerful with all the yellow! I absolutely LOVE what you changed into! Those capris are perfection. I really like the pendant tied in with the jacket and how all the colours tie together so nicely. The first outfit is great too - and the clutch and jacket really make it look current and stylish.

Sarah and Jackie, thank you for your lovely comments. Jackie, these capris were workhorses last summer and are still going strong. So is the linen jacket, a weight that I really need for our hot summers...weightless. I'd not tried these combinations before.

I just love 2-4 too. Such wonderful colours and the silhouette is really flattering on you,

    Lovely, Joy.

Gorgeous!  I think the yellows work in both outfits.  Sounds like a wonderful day!

  • Zibbets replied 9 years ago

Joy, both of these are gorgeous! The color combination in the first one is so fabulous and your jacket and pendant are definitely not too much together. The leather cord is beyond perfect with the jacket. Fabulous shoes too.

Both outfits are beautiful, but my fav is #2. The jacket in #2 is gorgeous!

Joy, both outfits are beautiful. We were thinking along the same lines today. I also wore my yellow halogen skirt today. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. :)

You look beautiful in these shades of yellow, Joy. The soft grey accessories beautifully complement the yellow in your church outfit. Your Asian jacket is fabulous.

MissVee, Sarah and Karie, thank you for your kind comments. The second outfit feels most like me. I'll have to repeat it.
BethAnn, thank you. It was a lovely day and I'm glad that you feel BethAnn yellows worked, especially in the first outfit.
Zibbets, thank you for addressing my concerns. I'm happy that you think the colors work and that adding the pendant wasn't over the top. The shoes are so comfortable and go with everything.
Debora, please post a photo of your yellow skirt outfit if you took one. How did you style it today? I'm always looking for ideas.
Windchime, thank you. I used to think that I couldn't wear yellow so it is extra fun now.

I love both of these on you! The color and the silhouette is beautiful.  Yellow is one of those colors I rarely see people wear, but my grandmother loved it, and looked absolutely smashing in it throughout her life - she was by far the most stylish person in my extended family.    I love seeing it on others because it looks so sunny and fresh and unique.

Joy, my outfit today was nowhere near as stylish as yours. I didn't get a photo of today's, but I what I wore was very similar to this older version below. Same BR lace top, except I switched out the ballet flats for taupe sandals and added a clutch. It was too warm here today for a jacket.

ETA: I love How Jeneva styled her skirt with a fashion forward white lace sweatshirt in this post.

Rabbit, you touched my heart with your memories of your grandmother.
Debora, you look so polished, something I'm always aspiring to. Thank you for including Jeneva's outfit too. Clearly I need a pretty lace top.

    Gorgeous! Both renditions.

That dragon jacket is beautiful. Just a touch eclectic, but grounded by your classic look.

I wouldn't change a single thing! Two super stylish looks in one day! I love them both; they are each perfect for their occasion!

Oh Joy, two wonderful Mother's Day outfits. You shine! I especially like the second one. Just the right amount of accessorizing, IMHO.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Both outfits are impecable! Love your yellows/citrons, and details in the second outfit! You have a fab style, Joy-such an inpsiration!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous. You wear yellow beautifully :) and that kimono is lovely.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you each for your kind confidence boosting comments. I plan to repeat the second outfit for summer and need to find a very lightweight jacket in white or pale grey to step in for the leather moto in summer heat.

  • pil replied 9 years ago

Both outfits are gorgeous, Joy, I am swooning. You also have me looking at the Citron website as I am still looking for something for a wedding.

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous outfits, thanks for the close up of the detail for the blue top, it's a pretty piece!
