Inspired by Angie's Khakis, Tee, Blazer Ensemble

Today I shopped my closet, inspired by Angie's latest ensemble post. The khaki cargo pants have straight legs so I tried to taper and roll a little. I don't think that part is working very well visually, but they have stayed rolled.
I don't have sandals out yet and don't have Birkies or that style. I used an old pair of clunky Eccos for the look. They need replacing with something but I'm not sure what I want yet. The bag is an old leather hobo that I thought I'd purged.
Khakis: Target a couple of tears ago
Tee: Fendor
Blazer: Nygaard tuxedo jacket
Belt: Target
Sandals: Ecco
Your suggestions and comments are appreciated. Shall I get rid of the khakis? Would a more draped tee be better? How can I master this ensemble?

joy love those cargo khakis on you - I would do the roll slimmer and messier if that makes sense...and the T is a winner!!

Thank you, Dustt. You would have approved of my first attempt at rolling these :)

LOL - ok run around and mess 'em up!!!

Love that tee and the sandals! Great outfit, although I agree with Dustt about the roll.

You've given the look your own individualistic twist--and I like it!

Great interpretation, Joy! I love the cargos in this. I think those chunky Eccos give a similar vibe to Birkies and they look super comfy. Well done!

Joy, it's funny you aren't sure about the rolled pants, as I was going to say that's my favorite part of this. It gives a fun structural element, kind of crispy, that I really like.

Joy you could also try pegging it with the pinch at the back or at the sides instead of in front like here. Out of site out of mind ;) I might be inclined to go a bit higher, too.

Dustt and Marmee, I messed them up to go out for BBQ (casual).  I'll try to get a photo.  I'm not a RATE dresser, so it felt a bit strange at first.

MsMaven and Julie John, thank you for the vote of confidence.  I am beginning to feel a little old to be wearing cargos but I like them.

Kellygirl, you saw why I chose the chunky Eccos.  They are super comfy.  I could walk in them all day.

Aida, you always have the best suggestions and I really appreciate that you took time to post.  I will work on rolling and think a back pinch would help a lot.

What a cool tee! I think this is a really fun version, but I agree that I'd roll the trousers a bit higher (another roll or two) to show off your ankles. :)

I like the finished product with the blazer & all! Totally works. I especially love that tshirt!

You nailed it, wonderful Joy. Fabulous. I LOVE those rolled cargos on you.

And to answer your question on another thread, you can absolutely wear these ankle strap pumps with small ankles.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

E and Jackiec, I am enjoying this tee too. E I will try the trousers with a higher roll. It was chilly the day I wore this.
Angie, I'm thrilled that this closet-shopped outfit gets your approval. I hope those beautiful pumps are still available when we get back from our trip.

Fun outfit with cargo trousers.  These have a nice slouchy fit to them.  I keep searching for a pair but they are always too tight on my thigh area.  The search continues.

I like this outfit a lot. You've gotten some good suggestions here - I'd try them all! You're never to old to wear cargos - at least I hope not, because I just bought a pair!

You look GREAT!! Modern and fresh.

  • Kiwichik replied 9 years ago

The only thing I would change about this fab outfit is the shoes - I can totally see you rocking the bickies look.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you for your helpful comments. I love knowing what others notice.
Lisa, as you can probably tell, these khaki cargos are not tapered. The legs are straight before pegging them. You might look for something like that. You could taper them from the knee.
Karie, I would never have tried wearing cargos if it were not for YLF
Thank you, MamaV. I like the sound of modern and fresh!
Kiwichik, I think that you are right about the shoes.

That's a fun casual outfit, Joy! I love how this formula can have such a range of variations that all work. I was wondering if the khakis might work better if you cut them off a bit shorter so as not to have too thick a roll. That is, unless you also like to wear them full length.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Parsley, I am ready to try to taper the legs and would probably wear these more in summer if they were not full length. Cutting them off is an excellent idea! Thank you.
