WIW: July 4th Outfoor Events ETA: photos of tuck options (scroll down)

This is my July 4th contribution. It's mostly white and blue with red flats. I could add a red cardi, but it is too warm. Angie, thank you for the inspiration.
You have probably seen most of this outfit before. All pieces are fairly old except the cross body/ clutch Kate Spade bag. I like having a white bag.
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions. Is the top ok worn out?

The top worn out looks good to me!  love how the cross-body strap echoes the white stripes on it.

Yes, the top looks great worn out--it wouldn't occur to me to ever tuck it in because of the buttons. I guess it looks like a sweater but now I realize it might not be that thick. Great outfit and I love your new bag; it's really sharp!

Great outfit - I love the little pop of red, along with the stripes.

Joy, you look amazing. I love the top like this -- so crisp and classic. And the bag is terrific. Shoes add just the right pop.

You look wonderful in that striped top! The buttons are very classy. I really like how your outfit pays subtle homage to the holiday.

Love the outfit Joy, so polished.  I think the top looks great worn on the outside, and that bag is gorgeous.

I love the gold accents on the tank -- so nautical. A girl after my own heart especially with the red shoe. I hope you had a fun day.

Oh I love this! The red flats are the perfect touch.

The top worn out looks great proportionally and I like the pop of red with the shoes.

Love the classic nautical feel of this outfit! As always, you look amazing, Joy!

Thank you all for your comments. The happiness factor was high wearing this easy, comfortable outfit. Claire, the shirt is heavy tee weight rather than a sweater, and could be at least semi tucked, but it didn't feel right.

Very cute outfit!  The red shoes are so fun - and I love that K.S. handbag!
I'd love to see the tee semi-tucked (just for comparison.!)  When I opened up your pics, I put my finger over the bottom of the tee (so that I could get an idea of what the outfit looked like if the bottom of the tee hit closer to your waist - and I liked the look of it better - but then, its hard to tell with my finger!)

I love this outfit. Of course. The individual pieces are great and they play together brilliantly.

the detailing on the top, with the side buttons is unexpected and lifts the whole thing up a notch.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Marley, I wish I'd snapped a photo of the half tuck for comparison. I'll try to recreate it later because I'd really like to know what looks best.
Ornella, thank you. There is something about stripes that still looks fresh to me.

Our patriotic princess looks amazing. xo

Another clutch lover! Very chic addition to a fun outfit IMO. Love it!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

    Angie, LOL
Neel, I love this clutch/crossbody. It is just the right size for most events.
Below I added photos of the same outfit with
    1: semi tuck
    2: faux tuck
    3: semi-side tuck
    4: worn out for comparison
    5: Full tuck
Which option(s) do you like best?

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Oh My Gosh Joy!  I like it lots better with the semi- or faux-tuck!  To me, the proportions look just right.  Thanks for posting these "new" pics - since, my finger was NOT giving me a very good idea!

You look elegant an patriotic Joy! Great outfit. I do think I have minor preference for the semi-tuck. Marley is right the proportions are better. If you kept the top out it would probably need a slightly shorter skirt for pleasing proportions.
