Wide pants; cropped top

Inspired by Angie's post. These are already about 3 inches above my ankle bone. The photo angle makes them look longer. Should I shorten them?

Wow, what a fantastic colour combo on you ! Love the bright red with it too !
As for the trousers' length, well, my eyes have not adjusted to cropped wide legs yet, so no useful answer from me, sorry.

Thank you , skylurker! I felt that my eye would not adjust either and then tried these on at Gap for a laugh. They ended up coming home with me :)

Maybe the material is too stiff to be flowing?  But you always look very stylish.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

True, Linder. They are a bit stiff but not crisp. I'm hoping a few more sessions in the washer/dryer will knock the sizing out of them. I am also considering hacking them off at the hem to shorten and do away with the weight at the hem. Not sure if this is a good idea. Thoughts?

I personally would not, you would loose that nice hem at the bottom that really makes the pant. Try running them through the rinse cycle with white vinegar, that will knock the sizing out, may take a few times.

    Love this!

    KILLER

Great length - no need to shorten.

This is an excellent colour palette on you, Joy. You look gorgeous.

  • Tanya replied 6 years ago

I think they are perfect just the way they are, Joy. Love the whole outfit and the shoes especially.

You look amazing. I was on the fence on buying a pair but after Angie's post today and seeing your photos has given me the push to try them!!

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

WOW, one more exciting colour palette on you , I love, love it very much. The pants are beautiful I didn't do anything, great outfit as always.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Angie, I am thrilled that this ok on a 70 year old! I would never have attempted these wide crops without your styling guidance. I'm thrilled that they do not need shortening. I think that they will shrink a bit more.
Tanya, thank you. The shoes are BCBG Generation from last year. I love your outfit!
Linder, thank you for the white vinegar hint. I will try it. Deb, thank you!

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thank you for the encouragement, Sandy and Mirjana. Sandy, try this style and see what you think. It is great to have an option besides skinny jeans.

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

Joy, I love both versions of this outfit (jacket and vest).  This look was made for you, the pants look perfect on you.  Also, you look good on every color I have seen you wear, whether it is pastels, neutrals, metallics, or brights.

This is such a great look for you. Very fresh and great colors. I love the shoes, especially.

  • harmonica replied 6 years ago

Lovely! Especially with the white denim vest. I second Linder's vinegar hack.

  • Marilyn replied 6 years ago

    Love this, Joy.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

Super cool. I love the pants with those shoes, too. I think the length looks good!

  • lozz_oz replied 6 years ago

    Perfect!

  • Runcarla replied 6 years ago

Wowsa! Especially love the look with the vest and bare arms.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Dianna, your comment put a big smile on my face.
JAileen, thank you for the confidence booster.
Harmonica, Marilyn, Firecracker, lozz-oz, and Runcarla, thank you for your comments and encouragement.

I especially love this with the vest, Joy. You look so youthful!

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Jenn, I love "youthful" :). Thank you. A big 71 years will be here soon. Where does the time go?!

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

As always you look terrific, I especially like the vest, but both look great.  The elegant shoes and bare arms provide some structure.

  • Elizabeth P replied 6 years ago

Looks great joy! I like the length as is. My fav rendition here is with the vest and bare arms.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 6 years ago

How clever to get the fitted top but also have the boxy jacket for a great spin on this look.

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

You have such a great closet, Joy. You can pull off all of Angie's ensembles effortlessly. This one, especially, is fab.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

Love the outfit, cannot tell about the length with the angle of the pictures, but here is looks just right!
