Trying the Burgundy/Eggplant/Grey Pallet

Inspired by Angie's ensemble post but lacking much eggplant or burgundy, I tried to go for it anyway. Does this work?
1-2: It is a fairly warm day and my plaid Puli topper has just the right colors.
3-4: what I am wearing without the topper. The eggplant under layer is a Classiques Entiere silk shell. The Nic and Zoe open cardi is eggplant and dove grey. Burgundy coated jeans from NYDJ. Booties are old Tsubos.
5: a couple of Gap silk squares twisted together. This photo shows them a bit messed up.
Did I over do it? Should I avoid these colors in future? So far my only problem is that I wore old nude knee-highs and one keepe slipping down.
Comments and suggestions welcomed.

Looks great!  I love how the topper and the scarf pull the colors together in your outfit.

heheh my first instinct was these colors will look amazing with your hair color and BAM they do!  I really like both outfits, the colors and doesn't seem like too much at all to my eye.  Personally I am not a plaid person but that topper with those colors I am liking! ;-)

I like both of these outfits but my favorite is #2. That topper is really nice and the scarves you combined are the perfect addition.

Sara, mtsofthemoon and Bonnie, thank you for your helpful comments.

Wear these colors again! They work perfectly together on you. I wouldn't change a thing.

Beautiful colors on you, Joy!  I like both outfits, and the scarves are perfect, they really pull the look together.

I like your use of the prints--the plaid and the patterned sweater--to pull the colors together. The outfit looks fantastic, Joy, I might omit the scarf, to let the cardi shine, but it's a nice way to add warmth at the neck (if, like me, you need it this time of year).

Prints are my fave to tie in colors, too, your eggplant and burgundy is beautiful! Hair color is elevating it even more!

Aquamarine and Tanya, I got compliments on the color pallet but must give credit to Angie for her ensemble in these colors.
Sharan, I do need the scarf warmth of at least a light weight scarf at this time of year. I have a long sleeved knit top with higher neckline in light grey that will help the cardi shine. Thank you for pointing that out.
Lyn, thank you. Burgundy used to look better on me, I thought, when my hair was brown with red highlights many years ago, but maybe it works now too, just different.

The colours work beautifully for you, Joy.  All good, but I'm particularly drawn to picture 3.

    Thank you, Summer.
Another question I have about this outfit: Are these booties ok yet or are they looking dated? Would a lighter shoe be better?

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

Love the second outfit especially. I almost wonder whether a more silvery grey bootie might work better in one. They look very blue grey on my screen. Definitely wear this color combo often, Joy. It really suits you!

Thank you, Kelly. Those booties are quite blue-grey, which has made them difficult to style. I have silver flats and pale grey suede flats.

    I especially like #3/4!
