K/R: AG metallic blue legging/skinnies and color block poncho

I want to wear these (not together) this weekend but would feel more confident with YLF input.
1/2: Could you see your mother or grandmother wearing these metallic blue jeans. ( says leggings but I sized up). Shown here with high-low navy cashmere pullover. I would add a sparkly necklace or earrings.
3-5: colorblock poncho on sale rack at the Rack. I'm not sure about how they should fit. Is this too much volume? The colors of black, charcoal and taupe will go with all my sweater dresses and several pant/jean combinations.
What do you think? I'd like to wear the pants tonight to a dressy-casual event and poncho tomorrow but am leery of cutting the tags yet. Please be honest. I want to know.

I love both and would happily keep and wear them. Swooning over those jeans, they are so cool.

  • Mellllls replied 8 years ago

I think both look great on you!

I will say this because you specifically asked. I don't think I could picture my mom ib the jeans but they truly look amazing on you. They are right for you. Your age; family status does not matter. .

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Thumbs up on both from me too. You look hip but not age inappropriate, age being just a number ;-) I loooove the blue metallic leggings so much on you I'm lusting after them. Where did you find?!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Ann, these were found at Nordstrom Rack on deep discount: originally $215.00 for $29.97.  They are AG (Adriano Goldschmied) made in USA.

The Legging, Super Skinny Style FCB1288

75%rayon, 25% nylon.  Very comfortable.  I could not find them on either the Nordstrom or Rack site, but other stores may carry them.  I usually wear a 27;  28 in skinnies.  I got these in a 29 but could have worn a 28.  They have a lot of stretch, but wearing them around the house, they do not get baggy but loosen just a bit.

Thank you for your input, Tanya, Mellllls and Ann.

I vote go for both too! You look super cool in the pants, and the poncho is super fab, I think!

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Ahhhh, one of those serendipitous finds at the Rack. That makes me nuts to come home all smug from finding something like that and then not be able to get an online pic of it, much less a Find. Luckily custom Finds helps, but it's just not the same when I'm putting outfits together on 'paper' here. Maybe I'll pop into the store and see if they have a pair in my size. Angie had posted some metallics, including blue, last year for the holidays, but they were Paige Verdugo and sold out quickly. Anyway, you look fab!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

I like the way you draped the poncho in #5. Looks super, Joy.

And I think you should give those metallic skinnies to me. (Love them on you too).

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Ann, my Rack had them in several sizes but did not have a 28.  what size do you think you want?  I could see if ours has it.  The price was the Rack price, not a red tag, so not on a sale rack.

  • gradfashionista replied 8 years ago

Thumbs up to both, particularly the blue jeans. They look absolute fab on you.

  • Janet replied 8 years ago

I'm not even reading the other responses -- I absolutely love both on you! Oh, I wish I could wear shiny pants like that!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Angie!  Thank you for your comment.  I am looking forward to wearing these pieces.  If the poncho works out, I hope to spring for a cashmere one.  I'll try this one on the cheap to see if it will work under a coat.

  • replied 8 years ago

JOY!!  I love them!!!  The color is sublime.  They fit you perfectly and look so damn cool!!!

I can't speak to the poncho.  I really have no idea what is a proper fit.

  • Nebraskim replied 8 years ago

I hope you keep both. The pants are super fun and I love the poncho, esp. the way in photo 5 that it's more "contained." I admit I have the sugar eye for ponchos, esp ponchos like this that are simple and elegant but can dress down for jeans and up as needed.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Grandfashionista, Janet, Sterling and NebrKim, you have helped me find confidence to keep and wear the blue skinnies. They may also be just the thing for future KC Royals celebrations ( I hope). Thank you for your comments.

  • Ornella replied 8 years ago

Two winners Joy. The jeans look like fantastic take on festive wear for the upcoming weeks.
I am biased when it domes to ponchos, I generally love them and love this one. It's great that it will fit with many of your existing pieces. If you're still uncertain about keeping it, how about showing us a few stylings with what you plan to wear it with.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Joy, I'm a pretty consistent 29 in AG's. Message me if you end up back there and see this size. I may swing by mine tomorrow too.

  • JAileen replied 8 years ago

The metallic pants look great on you. They look like they might make a really nice New Years outfit.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Ornella, I hope to wear it tomorrow as it is supposed to be rainy with thunderstorms. I will want something cozy. I like reversing the usual plain pants and sparkly sweater outfit with the sparkle on the bottom.
Ann, the Rack is pretty close to where I live. I will try to get there tomorrow. I hope you find a pair.
JAileen, these days we usually meet friends at a neighborhood bar. You are right. These pants will be perfect. I see wearing navy or black on top, or both.

  • Bonnie replied 8 years ago

You definitely can wear both of these items.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 8 years ago

I love love love those metallic jeans on you ( wantsies...AG are one of my best fitting brands, too.)

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Bonnie, I can get into them, but should I?  ;)  Thank you for your comment.  I know what you mean.

UmmLila, these blue metallic jeans should come with a warning label.  They seem to be a geezer magnet :) .

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

I saw this thread too late to be of help, but I'll just say those metallic jeans are awesome on you. Love the outfit! I'm in stitches over your geezer magnet comment.
The poncho is fab, too. Glad you're keeping both!

  • AJ replied 8 years ago

Those metallic blue jeans are FAB!! I would definitely high-five my mom or grandmother if I saw her wearing your first outfit!! I don't even think you need a necklace. Let the jeans take center stage.

I like the poncho too, but those jeans are giving me the wantsies!

Must plan how I can get to Nordstrom Rack tomorrow!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Sharan and AJ, thank you for the kind comments.  I wonder what my fashion-conscious son would think of these.  At least he is unlikely to see them so I don't care.

re: geezer magnet: I've not had so much male attention in a long time :)

  • AJ replied 8 years ago

Joy, what did hubby say about all the geezer attention? (Note to self: do not wear metallic pants to a bar.) ;)

Are the jeans low or mid rise?

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Hubby had a different event to attend and was not with me.

I'd say they are mid rise.  If I get to the Rack to look for Ann, what size do you think you might want?

  • AJ replied 8 years ago

I wouldn't want them tight. So probably a 29 as well. Thanks for offering to look for me too! I can't believe they are under $30 dollars!

  • Elly replied 8 years ago

Oh-- those are great, Joy! Really fun and totally age appropriate without crossing into "gold lame Golden Girls" territory.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Oh, man, I hope not, Elly! The Golden Girls territory anyway.

  • Mirjana replied 8 years ago

I like those metallic skinnies, adorable....

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Rack report. I went to the Rack to make some returns and found no size 29 AG metallic blue pants. A SA helped and said that their inventory was not separated by color as these jeans were in an assorted batch. I did find the same Jean in a light silvery metallic and a metallic plaid but only at this Rack in smaller sizes. There were other styles and colors of AG jeans at the same $29.97 price. I came home with a pair of AG black Prima mid-rise cigarette pants as my Black Kut Diana skinnies have gotten a bit faded and were scheduled to be replaced. These were also available in burgundy. There were black and dark blue velvet jeans too. Nothing left in size 29 and I thought 28s were tighter than I'd like. You might see if a SA would call other stores for you.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Thanks for the recon Joy, we're gonna head into the B&M Rack in a few minutes, so we'll see what the selection of goodies looks like then. Stay tuned...

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

What a fun thread this turned into.  YLF geezer enabling chain in action!  good thing I saw this now, as I'm also a 29 in AG :)

Both pieces are great on you Joy, glad you decided to keep them.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Yes, Elizabeth, the geezers are alive and frisky.  Ann, I hope that you found some good stuff.  There were some great prices on EF too.  I just didn't find anything of that brand that I needed this trip.

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

I found some great pieces at the Rack on recent trips to SF. Love the blue skinnies on you. I'm glad you're keeping them. No my mother would not wear them but she's not into fashion and she's sized out of things like these. I'm glad they got noticed by the geezers!

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Not one pair of the blue metallic, or any other color. However, I did come home with two bags of shoes! Wrote a post on the topic Sunday night and lost before I could post :-(

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

    THOSE PANTS!  Keep.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Denise, it depends on the geezer. ;)

Oh, no, Ann.  I hate when that happens (lose a long post).

Thank you, Una.  I will keep them.  If nothing else they provide an ego boost with the attention from guys.
