WIW: casual denim vest with jeans

1 is faded vest from Hinge a couple of years old.
2/3: an experiment with a clearance rack find. Can this work as a duster/vest?

Love this. I prefer No 1 because it shows off  your slim figure to a T!

I might like No2 if you wore a lighter color shoe (for a longer leg line) and maybe leggings if you have them.

Fun take on Angie's Ensemble, Joy!

Love the first outfit, great rendition! I think the duster idea works, though I would also prefer lighter shoes.

I love the first outfit. So fab! I think to wear that longer vest as a duster might require skinnier bottoms. I'm not really sure.

The first outfit is great. I think if you tried that light blue "duster" over skinnies with a non-patterned top in the same color as the pants, and dressed it up with some jewelry it might work.

I think you're almost there. Great try.

Joy, try untucking the first top, rolling the hems of the jeans and adding lighter footwear.

I think the duster might work with skinnies or leggings - but in looking at the pics, the fabric (to me!) seems to be awfully flimsy.  Is it?  I want it to have more "body" or be "firmer" - don't know if I'm making sense or not!
The first outfit works and you look great!  I agree with Angie (of course I do ;-) about untucking the top and rolling the pant legs!

Thank you for your replies and help for fixing these vest looks. Marley, the fabric of the duster is rayon and has no structure. I can see what you mean in the photos.
In these pictures I have on the BR cream skinnies. I will have to think of what I have that is more skinny. My clam diggers may be too short. I need to try buttoning and belting to try to wear as a dress.

Agree with Angie (of course) on what to do with #1. With that, you've got a good little casual look! The second vest looks more like a dress to me, and my brain can't get past that. Probably all those buttons. Have you tried wearing it like a tunic?

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

I think #1 is cute and I'm learning here, tops, as I read Angie's note about going untucked with the shirt. I like the duster and a column of color (white or a darker color) might be fun, too, like a denim gilet.

I keep losing my posts, getting logged out, but want to thank you for your replied and ideas. Aida, I will try the chambray piece as a tunic and wonder if it should be shortened.

I love the soft colors in your outfits, Joy! I wore a vest and faux tucked the shirt and I'm wondering now if I should have untucked like Angie suggests...YLF!

Ps I keep loosing my posts and get logged out also:(

Carole, does it happen to you every few minutes? I checked " remember me" and it is better. At least I don't have to always enter everything.

I really like the like the duster and the way you have it styled I would also do some type of walking short. I don't really care for the shorter vest but, that is just my poison eye.

Ladywone, thank you for your thoughts. Proportions are my nemesis. When it gets warm enough, I love the idea of wearing the duster with clam diggers ( my version of shorts).
