Patterned top, plain bottom; and plain top, patterned bottom

Here is a recent WIW inspired by Angie’s blog post on shorts. The crops are olive rather than white but paired with a patterned top ( thrifted leopard silk woven tee). The Taryn Rose flats are sort of an olivey metallic and the bag is one of those good for your back, a gift from DS. I felt good in this outfit.(1-3).
4/5 is today’s outfit, again with crops rather than shorts. Print polka dot bottoms, white linen EF top. Jacket is also EF and nearly a match for the bottoms. Flats are old Cole Haan.

The olive crops are super cute- love the tie at the bottom. But, your sunglasses are what really caught my eye. The frames are so striking with your hair. Elegant jacket in 4.

Kathie, these Sunglasses are Ted Baker bought at Nordstrom Rack recently. I like white frames and almost bought a second pair of very round ones. Thank you. I think the jacket helps the second outfit. The linen top was ironed but wrinkles badly.

Love both outfits and both are exactly my kind of shorts aka crops. I want to try something like your shorts suit as soon as the weather cools a bit.

Thank you, Shevia. You would appreciate that most of what I am wearing is second hand. I love that the polka dot crops and jacket make a “suit”.

I love your 1-3 outfit, especially. The leopard, utility pants and shoes are really complementary. You look great.

I really like your version of Angie's inspiration post. The leopard top looks terrific with the olive crops.

    Thank you, Opaline and Bonnie.

Joy, I think the leopard top in outfit #1 is too snug and short. It looks like the type of silhouette that should be longer and looser. I vote pass on. Olive utility pants are super cute, and fab with those flats!

Outfit #2 with the blazer fits nicely. Chic and polished.

I love your crops outfits, very chic. I especially admire no 4 - what a great and modern “suit”. You look wonderful as always.

Thank you , Angie and Katerina. I will pass on the leopard top and agree it is too short and tight with that bra and those bottoms. I will give it a quick try with a higher rise pair of pants but will look for something better. Katerina, I am amazed at how well I feel in this jacket.

Joy, you always look fab! I especially like your leopard print with the olive crops.

I like both the outfits a lot too! Try the leopard with the pants and jacket in 4 too!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Mainelady, I really do like that leopard print with olive and will be on the lookout for a better one. The one I am wearing is a mice heavy silk.
Suntiger, I love the idea of the leopard with the pants and jacket of the other outfit. Those pants also have a higher rise (when they are not sliding down).

Great looks!  I actually love the leopard print top with the crops.  And those flats are super cute too.  But I will admit I have a hard time telling fit in photos unless the problem is super obvious.  The blazer with crops is a nice look as well.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Sara. I am tempted to hang on to that leopard top until the end of the hot weather or until I find a replacement. Resale shops seem to have an abundance of leopard in browns. Snow leopard is harder to find.
I’m glad the ballet flats look cute. They are a sort of bronze/pewter metallic that goes with everything and are an important part of my packed travel capsule also because they are all day on your feet comfortable and very light weight. I hope they do not look too old lady.

You look great Joy - you wear such a range of colours well! Really nice looks all round. And I spotted the glasses too.

  • Kate replied 4 years ago

Great outfits, Joy! I especially love the olive crops and leopard tee. The olive flats are gorgeous, and fit your foot like a glove.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Sal and Kate. I do like a range of colors to change things up. These dog days of summer I usually long to wear hot autumn color and black. Today I am wearing black silk joggers and my floral of roses on black Ted Baker shirt. I also like to vary the amount of outfit contrast from low to high. Today’s is medium to low so tomorrow I plan on black and white or mustard and black.
