WIW: texture with rolled jeans

Inspired by Angie’s blog post today, I am wearing old white Kut Catherine boyfriend jeans, a black shell and black and white EF over layer. The bottom of the top-most layer makes a line at a wide area. This is also probably a last wear for these jeans. Maybe black pants would work better? Yay or Nay?

In theory I'd like it more with dark pants, but that's from my low contrast POV! The white bookends your hair though, so it does work. You could scrunch up one side of the top to create an asymmetric line.

I love this. Crisp, graphic and comfy. White is wonderful with your grey hair, Joy.

Thank you for your thoughts, suntiger and Angie. I need to experiment more with the black and white top and will try black pants too. I like the idea of making an asymmetrical hem with a partial tuck. These jeans are a lower rise than is fashionable but more of a midrise.

Joy, you look great! I like it best in #3 without the extra top layer - it looks crisp and cool for summer. I think black pants would look great with this too, but I’m partial to the white.

I think this is perfect with the white ... Would look good with black too, but I like the contrast here!

    Loving the crisp white bottoms.

I like this top with the white jeans. I find it pretty and breezy looking. I prefer the last option, without the black layer on top. Where the top ends doesn't bother me; doesn't seem unflattering at all. And I don't think black pants would be better than the white jeans, but I do think they would work nicely for another alternative.

I also like the crisp graphic of the black and white. I think black pants would look different , but equally fab !

I think you look great in this outfit.

What FC said. I like no 3 best. I think black pants would look good too (but less daytime summery). I love the graphic black and white combination.

Thank you, Christy, torantogirl, Tammyb, Firecracker, and Taylor, I will have to try the top with black pants, I have worn and liked it with a black tube skirt.

It’s definitely a yay from me!

I really like this outfit. The top looks good, I cannot see any problem with where it ends. I like it both with and without the over-layer. The over-layer makes such an interesting addition - love the geometric feel. You could absolutely wear this with black trousers as well for a less summery look. But I love it with the white jeans too. They are great on you.

I love the contrast and think #3 is stunning on you.

  • nemosmom replied 4 years ago

I think it would look great with black on bottom, but the white gives it such an intentional vibe. Love the contrast.

Thank you Erin and Brooklyn.. We must have cross-posted. Most of the day I wore the outfit as in #3.

I think they all look fab, black pants would be different but not necessarily better. White pants look good on just about anyone in summer, but your hair color works especially well with them. And about your comment on the rise....if you are wearing a top over pants then the rise length isn't very visible so maybe not so important whether it's a "fashionable" rise length or not as long it fits and feels good.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thanks, Chris. I actually have more white pants than black ones.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

Looks great to me. I love the texture in the top.

    This is great for summertime!

  • karen13 replied 4 years ago

I really like the white pants with this. Black would look great to, but not the same summery vibe. Definite yay.

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

I like this on you Joy and find it flattering. You suit black and white very well.

  • Jenni NZ replied 4 years ago

I really like it both with and without the overlayer. What wide area?!- I don’t see one?

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, sweet Jenn. You are probably deep into moving thoughts just now.
