WIW: Warmed up shirts, hopefully festive, Part 1

Angie's blog post about wearing shirts in cold weather was my theme this week. Here are casual looks. Please let me know what is working. Most have at least one second hand piece.
1-2: BR cream jeans, Nexx silk shirt over a cream silk long sleeved LE. under layer and velvet blazer from Kat via Style Exchange. Pearls.
3: same with thrifted satin down vest, semi-tuck.
4-5: plaid jeans, chambray BR shirt, semi-tucked, thrifted brick red velvet blazer. Close up of bandana scarf.
6. Black BBshirt doesn't show under silky jacket worn indoors, dark red coated jeans.
7. I posted this one with layered collars earlier. I intend to repeat it with different jeans.

I like all these on you Joy, but I especially like the white out/cream out looks!  So elegant and stylish. The plaid shirt look is lovely too:)

You wear a shirt so well.  I love shirts on other people but struggle to wear them myself.

Oh yes, love the cream outfits and the dark neutrals + shoes. next fave is the plaid ? jacket over the red jeans.
For the semi-tuck if it's  "half-tuck" with placket shirt, I have trouble with the jacket over it as my eye wanders too much. Whereas in #1-2, the tails out are just intentional enough with the blazer (plus it's a ubiquitous look nowadays with the longer untucked shirts.)

Joy, I must be more used to seeing you in colours. That white-out with the grey blazer and silver shoes is stunning on you!

You are SO ridiculously fab in #1, I can't get passed it to see the rest of the outfits. Chic, elegant and beautiful. Killer to the power of killer. WOW.

Angie, you blow me away with your praise for #1. When I wore this, I did get one of those backhanded compliments for wearing "white" jeans in winter. I'm glad you have shown us that white jeans can be year round.
Sally, unfrumped and L'Abeille, thank you for your kind comments as well.
Sally, it can be a matter of finding the right fit of shirt. I like mine more tailored rather than boxy to show some shape.
Unfrumped, yes that is the half tuck. I see what you mean about the shape created being distracting.

I agree that #1 is really outstanding. The gray jacket looks beautiful with the cream shirt and pants. The plaid and chambray shirts are fun looks, too.

OMG - the grey velvet jacket is divine.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

This grey velvet jacket is useful all year long. I like it with jeans and also with dressy frocks. I have a summer dress in silk almost the same color,so the jacket extends its season. Thank you , Kat. Oops I just realized that I have the same photo for both 1 and 2.
Shall I donate the cream vest?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

I like both cream outfits especially, Joy. You just glow in that color, and I like how you've added just a few touches of gray or animal print to liven up the tone-on-tone looks. The vest is so fun--are you really considering donating it? I can picture it over a plaid shirt with jeans, too.

All of these outfits are great. I like the belted tunic over jeans--a different silhouette, and it works really well!

Sharan, I hope YLF will help me decide if that vest should stay. I really loved it when a got it a few years ago and still like it as a shiny texture in a white/cream outfit. I wore it under a puffer coat this week but it isn't an easy fit. I like your ideas for styling it. All your comments are so helpful.

I love the first outfit. That blazer is a great piece! You look chic and pulled together in all of the outfits.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Wow, nr 1 is a very festive version of a winter white out-and my fave! Love the adition of greys and animals, to it! Gorgeous look!

  • Laurie replied 8 years ago

1.2.3. -- fabulous, Joy.  Just such a rich and elegant combination of neutrals, and your hair looks gorgeous with these outfits.  I love the blouse buttoned all the way with the pearls in #1-2.
There's your semi-tuck!  Looks wonderful.    The shoes are perfect, and I really like the texture of the belt in #3.

Grey and cream.  It's my current favorite combination.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Debbie ,Lyn67 and Laurie, thank you for your helpful comments. It looks like #1 is worth repeating. I hope it can go beyond the holidays. Do you think it needs changes to be worn then?

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

I love the white out and the festive jeans.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Shedev, for your generous thoughts. I am so enjoying white/cream outfits and festive jeans right now.

  • Kat replied 8 years ago

SO thrilled to see you in that velvet blazer, Joy-- you look so lovely and it gives me a warm feeling to see that the jacket has gone to a good home :)
I love that you are able to wear it year round, too. I just couldn't make it work and it sounds like it fits right in for you.
I also really like your cream outfit with the vest and adore the colors of the other outfits, and the way you're tying that bandana scarf around your neck is a great idea I wouldn't have thought to try.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Kat. Your jacket goes well with much of my closet's neutrals. I almost forgot that it has a ribbon belt and must try using it for a festive look.
