WIW: Festive Casual Layered Shirts

Angie's post on wearing blouses and shirts in cold weather prompted this post. I was determined to try plaid shirts in a casually festive way on a cold day and decided to try layering two of them over a cotton Target tank. A thermal silk layer would also work but I wanted to be able to strip down for exercise. For even more neck warmth I added a cotton bandana scarf.
To Add sparkle I wore metallic gold loafers and later gold sneakers and a gold cuff. The belt buckle is also gold.
Jeans are an old pair of EF and felt wide after wearing skinny jeans. Are they JFE or should they go? Should I tuck on my waist-less rectangular frame?
Does the layered shirt idea work or look silly? Comments and suggestions welcomed.
I needed more warmth later in the day and added the red puffer vest below in finds.

This totally works! You are rockin' it today, Joy!

I'm living in my flannel shirts right now, so am drawn to this look on you today, Joy.  Maybe do a faux/half tuck to make it a little more casual?  (Models both show this look, in fact, in your finds).  I almost always wear a tank under my flannel shirts .

    I like it!

I really like your cute festive outfits but I'm loving your loafers. I'm working on a shoe bookend capsule and those loafers look perfect for me. Where did you get them? Are they currently available?

I think this is a fab outfit and I love it with the print of the scarf.

Thank you, Shelia and Joyce. I'm happy that you don't think I look crazy.
Laurie, I did not think of the half tuck and will try it. Thank you.
Bonnie, metallic gold would be a wonderful shoe choice for you. I am wearing Born loafers that are a few years old and almost worn out. They are as comfortable as slippers. I recently bought very similar Sperry gold loafers as an replacement. Both brands fit well in my usual size. I bought the Sperrys at the Rack. Below is a photo of the new Sperry pair.

Very fun plaid shirt with bandana. Super cute.

I vote pass on the jeans though, Joy. You are too cute to wear stuff that looks too big.

Thank you for helping me decide about the jeans. I think that I need to stick to skinnies or pants that look intentionally wide.

I almost missed the shirt inside. :0) I think it is a fun idea, the one thing I am not crazy about are the jeans but you already made up your mind about it.

I like the layered shirts. It's a chic way to wear the plaid shirt trend. I might even pull the collar of the shirt underneath fully out to lay over the outer shirt collar.

Like the top half, but skinnies might work better. If you like the jeans, consider cropping them to culottes or bermuda shorts.

I love the shoes and your shirt. I particularly like the little blue neckerchief. I think the outfit would look more up-to-date with slouchier boyfriends or skinnies.

Celia, when I tried I tucking for a half tuck, the inner shirt tail hung below the outer one in back to show more plaid mix.
Sharan, I do need to play with those layered collars. I didn't care for the inner collar over the outer one but probably didn't try enough with it. It needs another chance.
Shevia, cropping the jeans to culottes is an excellent idea!
Smittie, I agree that these jeans don't look modern, but quite mumsy.

Brilliant idea with the layered shirts Joy - and I hope you don't mind if I copy you on it.

Not at all. Please let us know how it turns out. Now I am looking at other shirts with new eyes. The plaid ones work well because the sleeves are more generous than most.
