WIW: double plaid

Today’s blog post sparked outfits with my wide brown plaid pants( 3-6) and a thrifted Books Brothers plaid blazer and western inspired tan and grey boots.
And photos 1/2... EF black pants stuffed into black Aquatalia square toe booties to look a little like outfit #2 from the blog post. The last outfit (#4/5) has more pattern mixing and warmth with the addition of a pseudo plaid scarf.
What do you think? 1/2 is what I am wearing with gold hoop earrings. I may add a gold chain with a gold covered aspen leaf pendant for autumn. Is it all too much? Especially the pattern mixes in 4/5? Do I dare wear this outfit out in public? Do the soft shades of brown and cream soften it or make it more hectic?

#5 is ultra professional tonal pattern mixing. 2 plaids and a pattern, WELL DONE.

KILLER and you are ready for NYFW :)

Pattern mix looks soft and fashion forward. Go for it! YLF!

Angie, haha, NYFW is something I would rather enjoy through your eyes.
Thank you, Kellygirl . Maggie, the dog, will not care what I wear to walk here if treats are involved.

You dare wear it out because it looks great! These are  lovely colour combinations on you

That jacket is a great find and and your styling is perfect.

Looks lovely - nice mix of soft tones. Slight personal preference to #1 - since I’m wearing a lot of black lately :-) .

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Both look fab. I have a slight preference for 1 but adding the scarf. Love the scarf. You have a fantastic wardrobe.

Thank you, Kellygirl, Cardiff girl, Bonnie, slim cat and Brooklyn. Thank you so much for the vote of confidence. I am having a horrible time trying to get my blood sugar under control today and don’t know why. Your sweet comments help me relax.

The soft tones are rich, classic and soothing, super pattern mixing. I hope your sugar levels calm down shortly.

  • Liesbeth replied 3 years ago

Both versions are great! You can wear both high and low contrast imo, especially when you add in those mid tones.

#1 and 2 are very 1990's and #3 - 5 so very 2020's - both fabulous. You must wear the plaid mixing version out and about. Joy, with everything going on in the world, it is not surprising that your blood sugar levels are a bit out of sorts - sending you hug. If playing in your wardrobe helps - we are definitely the winners because your posts are always a highlight of YLF.

Blazer was an excellent find. I can't see well enough to comment on the details but all of these work, and work well!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Shevia. I need to look at your WIWs for ideas for wearing this blazer. I used to wear it with jeans and brown bottoms, but most of those are gone. The plaid is just dark brown and cream with a cream lining. I welcome styling suggestions.

I don't think it's too much at all - and the cream is beautiful with the browns. Hope you are feeling better!! xx

I just LOVE #5 on you, Joy.  It's so sophisticated with the pattern mixing and the addition of the scarf is sublime.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you so much, nemosmom. I am feeling a bit depressed with all the staying home. My little grandson’s birthday is this week and it sounds like We will not be able to see him or take him a gift. It is probably for the best but it hurts. The most exciting part of the week is DH getting stitches out after a pulled tooth.
Please don’t misunderstand. I am very grateful that DH and I are not sick and live in a beautiful spot.

Joy, you look perfect. I especially like the square toe boots. And you have the most beautiful hair I have ever seen.
