Cobalt and Black

Today’s outfit was inspired by Angie’s blog post. Black slim pants, old white turtleneck, old cobalt jacket discovered in the closet and usually worn in warmer weather, white and tan croc embossed booties, black and white small scarf and small leather white crossbody. I am mixing metals here. The boots have silver studs and the bag has gold hardwear, as does a bracelet with blue glass. I may change the boots for white loafers.
Does the mix of metals bother you? Is the fit of the jacket too far off? It is better over something more lighweight than the thick long sleeved top I have on. The jacket is close to being a closet orphan. It is time, I suspect, to let it go and look for a better one. I welcome your thoughts.

Anxiously awaiting photos but in the meantime I will say that my philosophy is "all metals are neutrals, and all neutrals go together."

You rock!!! Fab outfit, I really like how you bookend this outfit!

It looks awesome.  I love the mixture of all the textures and patterns.  The jacket is on the shorter side so I think it would look really nice with skirts, dresses or high-waisted culottes.

    KILLER

The white boots, bag, and scarf are a sublime finishing touch!

Fab outfit! Are those joggers? I love how they look with the boots. You are clearly the most stylish person in Boulder.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

There are rich people in Boulder and several rather pricy clothing stores on Pearl Street, so no way could I compete, but Dana, that was a sweet comment. These are not joggers but might be sized up leggings. Ordinarily I would wear my EF black pants, but there is a bottleneck in the laundry and they were not dry. These are also EF black knits. I scandalized the SAs when I bought them because the fit is not a legging fit on me. They thought I should size down a lot.
Thank you, Angie! I am astounded and humbled by the Killer. These boots are becoming favorites and the scarf gets lots of wear. This small white bag has become useful to carry my glucose meter and phone and a tube of glucose tablets during the day.
Yes, Tanya, I need a longer jacket for this outfit. This jacket is mostly worn with dresses and skirts which is why it is a near orphan this year. I can do about the same outfit with a black knee length tube skirt.
Thank you minaminu and MsMary. I love bookending and hope the mix of metals is not too distracting.

This is a very chic outfit. If it was warmer I could see it working with ballet flats or loafers as well.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Cardiff girl. Yes, I think sneakers would also work.

Gorgeous outfit! I really like the scarf and the little bag with the cool boots. So great!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Katerina. Both boots and bag have a bit of a reptile texture, so they really look like they belong together.

I like this outfit a lot, Joy! To me, the boots are such a fabulous finishing touch. I can't see the mixed metals, but I would generally not be bothered by it; I mix mine a lot, and in fact did the same this week--booties with silver, and gold/brass higher up in the outfit.

Perfection. You can do no wrong.

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

So chic with the booties and the scarf! The pant length is perfect and looks fab with the jacket. Love your rendition!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Brooklyn and Kellygirl, you are both so stunning. I so appreciate your comments .

Gorgeous! You have a white complement happening right there!

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Wonderful look - love all the white pieces and mixed metallics!
    Very stylish look!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

I learned here that adding white can be magical and solve a lot of problems. Lynne, I had. been looking for white booties to bookend my hair and a white compliment is a wonderful idea.

  • Jane replied 3 years ago

Ooo - the scarf is great and I love the white / black / mixed metals vibe.

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

    Nicely done
love the booties, matching bag, top, and  sunnies
and honestly, even after you pointed it out, i really don’t see the mixed metals, its just not my thing.
I’d hang on to the jacket, and keep your eye out for something you like better, if you find it great, if you don’t this one is still there for days you are wanting a pop of cobalt

Beautiful and the mixed metal does not jump out at me or detract from this winning formula. This shows the power of a good jacket as I like this strong shoulder line on you, very much along the lines of a Balmain jacket. I think you can wear one of these fitted jackets without it looking I’ll fitting. If it is not comfortable to wear then pass on the jacket, but it does not look too tight.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Jane, kkards and Bijou. I am glad the mixed metals are not distracting. The jacket fits ok over a light or sleeveless top, so I will probably keep it for summer and look for a winter one too. The jacket I am wearing is useful with a red top and white bottom to make a red, white and blue outfit if needed.

Agreeing with Angie here - this is FANTASTIC!  Super modern and chic.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

You are the cool modern grandmother - YLF!

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

You have single handedly made me reconsider white booties with black pants, which I feared would shorten me too much. Another to copy look for me!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Wow. Shevia, you need some grey and cream snake patterned shoes to bookend your salt and pepper hair. White would be good too.

  • AJ replied 3 years ago

Joy, this is a sophisticated and stylish look! Keep the jacket.  YLF!
