Angie Challenge Day 3

Days 1/2 were filling a thread, so I started this new one for the rest of the challenge.
Our weather is cold with an icy fog. Today’s activities include shopping and a chocolate social tonight.
1. This outfit is me because it is s bit dressy with the heavy silk DVF skirt. I was the dressiest there.
2. High low with EF silk top, Aquatilia booties, and long jacket ( inspired by Griffin), also Kate Spade bag. Low because the skirt and scarf are thrifted.
3. Lots of silk
4. Feet felt warm and stable on refrozen ice.
5. Surprise statement bling earrings.
6. Pattern mix of scarf and skirt.
Is the jacket too long for me at 5’3”? Does the pattern mix work? I welcome your thoughts and suggestions. Please ignore the hair which was washed but not yet tamed.

Very nice Joy,l like the patterned skirt which breaks up the black and the pop of red from the scarf lifts the black too.Nicely done.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you, Cardiff girl. I agree that the pop of red was needed. Earlier I had on a black and white wide striped scarf. This one with the red looked so much better. I wish I had red booties.

Oh, Joy, you look beautiful . I think the jacket length is perfect!
I love the black and white with pop of red . FAB!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

The pattern mix absolutely works, Joy! And it seems extremely you. I love the skirt -- it's gorgeous!

I don't think the jacket is too long in this outfit (with the pencil skirt) but it might look that way in other pairings.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you Taylor and Suz!  I almost bought that skirt at full price and could not believe my luck when I found it like new in a thrift store.  The heavy matte silk is a year round fabric for me and it does not wrinkle.  It is not quite a pencil skirt but drapes close to the body.  I have always worn that jacket with pants and the length is ok, but usually skirts could use a shorter topper.

I like your pattern mix with the red scarf a lot, and of course all the silk! The jacket length looks better from the side than the front, which could be due to skirt shape or the jacket shape. From the side I can tell its nice and drapy.

This is very elegant! I love the pattern mixing.

Pattern mixed, light accents, bells a whistles, drama, layering interest, and above all - ECLECTIC. That's our delightful Joy.

The length of the jacket is very now, and you absolutely pull it off here. The proportions work well. The visible waistline of the skirt pulls the eye back upward, which visually shortens the jacket.

The scarf and skirt are KILLER together.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Angie, thank you so much for your analysis and a Killer! It all makes sense.

Thank you, Suntiger and Christina F.  I am so glad the pattern mixing is ok.

The accessories really work well with your outfit. You look great.

Very nice. I’m sure you felt nice. It’s a very you and very put together outfit with some great pieces.

  • SarahD8 replied 5 years ago

    I LOVE the pattern mix!!!!!

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

The skirt is fantastic and I think the length of the jacket looks great - very current. Or maybe it is Griffin's influence - which is plenty good enough reason to like it. One of your best (along with many others!).

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Love the skirt with the scarf, and I think the jacket length is great on you! And a chocolate social- what fun!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Than you, Bonnie. Accessories are a wonderful tool.
Delurked, yes these pieces make me feel good and confident.
SarahD8, I am thrilled that you liked the pattern mix

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Shevia, that is high praise. You have made my day .
Kathie, than you. The chocolate social was fun and included a non-serious trivia game.

Wow, Joy, this outfit is stunning. It is so beautiful and polished, and I love the unexpected details of the earrings and the patterned skirt (I imagine many women would create a similar version of this outfit with a plain black skirt). The jacket is not too long, to my eye, and I am smiling that you were inspired by Gryffin! I like your scarf and bag, and personally, I do not miss red booties with this outfit. I like the long leg line created by the black ones.
In all the posts I've seen from you, I would not have guessed your height. I figured you for at least 5'5", perhaps taller. Kind of funny, huh?

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Firecracker, that is funny. I have never been taller than 5'4, but petite sizes do not work for me very often. I am too short to wear the bigger silhouettes. Patterns and accessories that I would like.

  • Katerina replied 5 years ago

Joy, this outfit is a masterpiece! I want it right now, please send it to me :-)

Stunning combo - elegant, interesting pattern mix, gorgeous colours with your hair (which looks beautiful btw) and I love the dressy dramatic elements. The lenght of the jacket is on trend and looks great with the skirt and the blouse tucked in. You look so beatiful.

  • Mainelady replied 5 years ago

Absolutely stunning! Joy your DVF skirt is beautiful and I love it with the long jacket. No, the jacket is not too long for you (said the 5’2” woman who decided to start wearing dusters). Your scarf is the perfect accessory for your pattern mixing and you know I love those blingy earrings!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

You did a good job debombshelling a skirt with the black opaques and boots and the long jacket-and your hair is the best accessory-love it matches the white in the print! Wow!

  • Bijou replied 5 years ago

I love the pattern mixing and think the red scarf is a complete winner with this outfit. You look beautiful.

  • Nomad replied 5 years ago

Beautiful! The patterns and colors of the skirt and scarf play so well together. You look very elegant.
