WIW: can you stand another pastel outfit from me?

I've been hunting down any pastels in my closet that may work in this cold weather. Today's outfit consists of several wardrobe orphans and even orphaned pink lipstick.
Jeans: These are orphans because they are a bit too short. Does wearing them with these new booties help or make it worse? NYDJ with a pearly coating (I love the color).
Lavender tank: today layered over silk underwear. This is an orphan because the color is hard to pair with much of my closet and it fits best with a padded bra. I bought it when I weighed more. I like the color on me, and it's hand washable fabric of silk/cotton/spandex has a lovely weight and sheen. By Karen Kane several years ago.
Light blue denim jacket: I wanted this light denim blue color jeans last spring and never found them so picked up this little cropped BP Nordstrom's jacket instead. Then it turned too hot to wear it and when cooler, the color didn't seem fallish enough, so it's seen very little wear.
The last photo is of the Karen Kane lavender shell with its matching cardi with sparkly edging. Is it too matchy to wear together?
Blush pink MK belt and DV metallic wedge booties...both fairly new.
What do you think? Does this work? I'd love to have your suggestions and honest opinions on the outfit and individual pieces.

This lavender color does look great on you, Joy. I think you should make an effort to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Is it pretty fitted or more relaxed fit? Also it looks on the short side - is it?
I really like the color combination of cream, lavender and faded denim but it does read more spring to me or even summer - not so much because of color as because of fabrication. This outfit would be great for late spring and you can roll up the jeans to deal with the short length. (I do think they are on the short side even with the booties, especially from the side but I think it is passable in  a pinch if it does not bother you).
    Love the booties!

Thank you, Sveta, for your wise suggestion to save this for late spring and roll the jeans. The lavender top is a relaxed fit on me. It is on the short side . Would it be better completely tucked?

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

The pants don't look too short to me, and I love the lavender and lt blue denim combo.  The lavender twinset is a bit sweet/ladylike.  I'm not sure if that's a plus, neutral, or negative in your style world.  If you're not big on the ladylike factor, layering the cardi with the tougher jacket would toughen it up, plus provide another layer or warmth.

Not only does the lavender look good on you, it is the Pantone colour of the year! (See below). I like it with the cardi, and with the jean jacket. I bet it would look good with any greys you might have, as well as dark wash jeans or navy. Maybe even an olive, as a wild card pairing or colour block style with a bright.

I think the pants are for rolling now, or with a flat. Just a tad too short.

I would like to see the pants a tad longer, they're a little short, but not too short. The lavender looks gorgeous on you, and I agree with Sveta that this would make an excellent spring outfit. The sweater looks great semi tucked, and would probably also look good with a full tuck.

Joy, you look so lovely in pastels. What's not to love? If you still want a pair of jeans in the color of your jacket, try these: http://www.victoriassecret.com.....ueType=OLS. Unrolled, they are full length on me (32"). I expected to hate them for a variety of reasons, but I love them.

MuseumGal, I don't mind ladylike at all, in fact, try for it, but you make a good point of using a tougher jacket for a different look and warmth.
Runcarla, you have many really good ways of wearing this top. Thank you for the inspiration and pointing out the Pantone color.
Karie, I agree that using the outfit for spring with rolled legs would look much better. Thank you for backing Sveta up.
Carter, I'll have to check out those VS jeans, especially as the light blue are not destructed. How is the sizing?

Joy, you look so pretty in pastels. I do think the pants are a tad short. Why not try a roll and see if you like the look?

  • viva replied 10 years ago

I agree with the rest on the pant length -- a tad longer would be better, but a little cuff or roll could make them work with a completely different vibe, if you are comfortable with that.

You look stunning in this lavender/orchid shade. I like the tank styled both ways. Look #1-#2 reads very fresh, playful and casual. Look #3 is feminine and classic. Equally lovely looks… just different vibes. The pants do not look short to me, especially when worn with booties, but I do think they will look adorable cuffed come warmer weather. Heck -- I personally would not wait until Spring to sport this look. [Guess I am getting tired of all the gray and black right about now.] And I agree with Runcarla that you should try some other combos with lavender as the color is so very flattering on you.

You look gorgeous Joy! I will agree with everyone who has commented about the pants, but the colors are divine. You certainly know how to play up that lovely hair. Seems those colors do us a favor.

Joy, I am 100% in agreement with Sveta on this one. Wear this beautiful outfit with the jeans rolled up in the late spring. Problem solved!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I like Suz's suggestion of rolling the jeans for Summer. I echo that the palette is fresh and pretty on you, Joy. The booties and belt are delish.

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Joy, I can wear anything from a 2 to a 6. I figured that even though these were a looser fit they may be tight on my thighs in the smaller sizes. I ordered a 6, and I like the way they fit, but a 4 definitely would have fit for a slimmer look.

  • LACeleste replied 10 years ago

Wow Joy!  You look radiant in that orchid color! Very fresh and pretty!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

So pretty, and I like that this shade is 'colour of the year'.

  • Halo replied 10 years ago

I don't think the trousers look too short with the boots, although with some shoes I agree you'd need them a little longer. The colour of the top looks beautiful on you.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Nothing new to add, Joy, but the lavender with those pants and jacket is gorgeous on you.

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

You have pulled off the fake full length with the booties. The lavender is super fab on you. Pastels are friendly to you.

  • gryffin replied 10 years ago

Joy - this outfit is so soft and beautiful!!  I think the jeans work nicely with the booties.  I think any high ankle bootie is going to help take these through the cooler weather.  Love the whole outfit...soooooooooooooooooo pretty!!  You are a breath of spring on this raw snowy day!!

  • shemarie replied 10 years ago

Great look! With your gorgeous hair and skin tone, you just shine in white/pastel-toned outfits!  Those shoes are fabulous.  Such an effortless, chic style you have!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Well you know I love that pink! belt! I think it looks amazing with the light jeans jacket - I want to copy this!
