WIW: vest & linen trend and a MsMary copycat

The first outfit is a trial run of rolling the linen trousers plus using the black sleeveless jacket. I felt pretty happy with the outfit but may be deluded. Suggestions are welcome.
The second outfit was copied from MsMary's copy. I ended up adding a third black and white pattern with a cotton scarf. I'd welcome your suggestions and comments on this outfit too. Is it too hectic? Do the proportions work? I needed a jacket and ended up using the cropped red denim.

Your linen trousers are fab with the roll and your shoes are to die for!
I really like the b/w pattern mix. I would love to see a black shoe with it, perhaps a patent? Also, what if you tried it untucked and sans belt? I think the scarf will be great with it too!

It is so fun to see fabbers copying other fabbers. I'm totally marking this for my take on the outfit.

I really like your linen trousers (the narrowish leg) and how you rolled them up to show the sandals. On the skirt outfit, I wonder how it would look without the belt and untucked or semi-tucked, so the top doesn't end at the same level as the jacket...  the patterns look very pleasing to me.

Zibbets and Gracie, I didn't think this particular stripe looked right when next to the skirt print, but I was in a hurry and will try without the belt with this and a wider striped top. Would a different belt make any difference? I will also try black pumps. I did try black and white color blocked flats, but they seemed too much at the time. Thank you for your sharp eyes and suggestions.
Ornella, I can't wait to see your take on the outfit!

I think you look fantastic in both :) I love how you added the extra print and red jacket. Perfect :)

I like them both Joy! The rolled linen and sleeveless blazer work very nicely, and those super modern sandals really up the look. The hectic pattern mix looks good to me, the scale of both the stripe and the leaves are in line with each other. What are your shoes there? I think I'd like to see that one sans belt, it's too blocky to my eye. The red denim jacket is a fun addition, it's a bit unexpected; I think the no-belt would look better with the jacket on, too.

EDIT: if you still wanted a belt, a thinner one would work better with these particular prints (esp. a lower contrast one, say metallic or gray). If you do a wide stripe then this wider belt might work. I think I'd still like it best without any, though.

Looks like everyone else has you covered with suggestions so I am only chiming in to say how much I like these. The shoes with the linen pants are absolutely perfect and the pattern mixing with the skirt is really pleasing.

Love the linen with vest. The roll looks just right with the sandals. Great copy of a great copy too!

Thank you for the helpful comments! Aida, the shoes with the 1st outfit are SE wedges from late last summer. With the 2nd outfit (pattern mix) I'm wearing Cole Haan pewter metallic wedges, also from last year. A metallic belt might work well with these shoes.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Gotcha. With the metallic shoes I definitely vote no belt, or a slimmer metallic or very slim white belt :)

Oh goodness. I can't move past the first outfit to see the rest. WOW. Joy. That outfit is killer sensational.

I like your pattern mixing a lot!

The linen trousers look nice too.

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

They both look really great to me!  Way to pattern mix!

I forgot to mention that the skirt in the second outfit has it's own black waistband. I wonder if I should wear the striped tee out to over it or tucked to reveal it?
    Angie, a Killer Sensational! xo
    Ceit and Amy, thank you!

Love love love!  So fun!!  I adore the addition of a third print in your fab copycat outfit (like the original inspiration photo but yours is way better)!  And the first outfit is super fresh and fun!  You are so fab! :)
