WIW: The Orange Capsule

After giving some thought to what my June challenge to myself should be, I will attempt a month of shopping my closet and posting outfits.
I hope to up my style, look for ways to evolve, decide what needs editing out and to use the old in new ways. So I welcome all critic, suggestions and comments.
My inspiration today was Angie's 77 year old client's orange capsule. I have some similar, but old pieces.
Red jeans: NYDJ rolled just a bit.
White tank: old EF linen with a white Target tank underneath. I need a new white tank.
Cardigan: old Bobeau poly/rayon blend. Just right for today's temperatures.
Shoes: old Pikolinos
Bag: thrifted Fossil woven leather
Finds are similar until I can do more custom finds
All comments, suggestions and critic is welcomed

Love the shades of red/orange here Joy.  Proportions look good... a winner!

And good for you doing a bit of a June challenge.  You've got me thinking that perhaps I should come up with something as well.

Beautiful, Joy. I like the earthy accessories -- they are fresh with this.

Great outfit!  I love the colors and the the tan accessories.  It's summery and colorful.

So pretty on you! I've always liked orange and pink together (on other people... not my color, sadly) and the red jeans are simply *dark pink* right? The accessories are perfect. And I sympathize with you for needing to replace a basic white tank. Sometimes, those are the most challenging items to find.

Wow. Totally hip, comfy, pulled together and happy. The shoes are amazing with those jeans, Joy. FABULOUS.

Thank you all for your comments.
Elizabeth, TraceyLiz, Crutcher and Kellygirl , I need a challenge to keep from getting lazy. I hope that I can stick with it.
Suz and Sara, the shoe and bag color were the closest I could come to those in Angie's ensemble. I'm glad they are working. The clothing colors were also an attempt to copy those in the Orange capsule. I don't think I'd have put them together on my own, but enjoyed wearing them on a cool cloudy day.
Annabelle, I think these jeans are dark coral. It will be challenging to find a good white tank. I am only 5'3" but most seem too short, or the neckline and armholes are too low.

Angie, we must have posted at the same time. The outfit is fun and comfortable. The hip and pulled together part I have you to thank for the inspiration. I know that your client must be enjoying her orange capsule.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

She is. And so am I. (((HUGS))).

Great idea for a challenge, and I'm glad it means we'll get to see more of your beautiful, elegant style. :) This outfit is a fun start; I like the vibrant colors and your choice of shoes and bag.

Joy, super re- mixing. This is a great inspiration post. I am much in need of " dwelling" with what I have and editing more rigorously. Your outfit looks vibrant and summery. The warm leather tones do that, as a change from pairing with black of gray.
    The shoes are great!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Angie, your sweet words are like a warm hug.
Windchime, thank you for looking and your kind words about my style.
I saw "Iris" last week and loved her memories of being told as a young woman that she was not pretty, would never be pretty, but she had style. I'm not and never have been pretty, but aspire to have style.
Unfrumped, please join in and see what happens. I agree that this is a nice change from black and grey.

I love the color combination.  It literally takes my breath away.

I love the fit of those pants on you - very nice!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Sterling. The colors were unexpected and cheerful. I wasn't sure the cardi would look ok with the bright pants.
Torontogirl, the jeans are a roomy fit, so quite comfortable. My skinny legs mean that even skinny jeans are often a loose fit. I'm glad that you think these look ok.

    Bright, cheerful,and fab!

    Thank you, Shevia

Wow, so lovely to see those colours on you.
You look great and I look forward to following the challenge over the next month.

I'm a new member and am really enjoying these WIW posts. You did a wonderful job interpreting Angie's capsule. Looking forward to more of your posts.

Really pretty color combination, Joy! And so nice with your coloring. I wish I wore orange tones better, but I enjoy this palette on you.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Kiwigal and Bonnie, you are very gracious. There are going to be failures this month, but I will appreciate your thoughts.
Shedev and skit tie, all that brightness is out of my comfort zone, but I did enjoy wearing these on a gray day.
Janet, you are right. Tomato, orange and coral reds are some of my best colors when I want to get away from neutrals. I wish I could wear purples, olive and dark teal better. Some are ok but not my best.

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

Gorgeous colours, Joy! I, too, just love the shoes :)
