WIW: Summer vest, inspired by Angie's post and Neel

Yesterday I copied Neel
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ess-blazer
and her inspiration photo (3) with my sleeveless jacket, faded denim jeans, leopard pumps and gold leather bag. (1/2). The second photo I hope will show the layering best. The under layer is an old silk shirt. Pumps are Bandalino and a fairly recent find. I'd been looking for a low heeled pump in a leopard print and pointed toe that are comfortable.
I later changed into a hot weather version of the outfit (4-6) with sleeveless EF shell and leopard sandals. The 6th photo is an attempt to show the shark bite affect of overlapping semi tucked tank and longer front of the vest.
The last photo is another attempt with the same vest tried today with grey coated jeans rolled and chunky Ecco black sandals that I wanted for a hot rainy day but the rubber soled fell apart while wearing. I can now see a small piece of black rubber already off in one of the photos. At a meeting I had to pick up big chunks of black rubber under the chair. They are now in the trash. These are a couple of years old but have not been ill-treated or left in the sun.
I suspect that jeans should be rolled higher? What do you think? Are the proportions ok? Is there enough of a heel on the pumps to balance out the low vest?

I like the pumps in #1 and heeled shoe in #6 best.  For rolled hems I seem to prefer a heel of any height versus a flat, but that may just be my personal preference.

Wow. You absolutely nailed all renditions, Joy. Killer all round. xo

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Look at you in those coated skinnies! Wow! I love the animal print belt with it. Very clever!

Love all the renditions really! And I think the rolls are perfect. You nailed it! And I am honored to have inspired you :)

Lisa, I don't always practice it but agree with you that some heel looks best with the rolled hems.
Angie, a Killer!? You just made my day!
Neel, I was looking for a post by you so I could link to your post that was my inspiration. Now it is done. Thank you for showing us your wonderful outfits.
Now to look at Angie's black sandal picks for something to replace my poor chunky Eccos.

This is so fab joy - I love #1/2 and then the warmer weather version is equally great. Those pumps in #1/2 really do elevate the outfit I must say. Makes me want to wear heels (and I almost never wear them.)

You look awesome Joy! The roll looks perfect to me and the pumps are my favorite. Nice!

You have me reconsidering my opinion on vests! I love all of your outfits, Joy. Super cute!

All fabulous renditions! I just adore #1 with the cute little pumps; the jeans roll is perfectly positioned there. For the hot-weather version I think I'd actually like to see the roll a bit lower. The gray coated jeans in #7 are super cool! Too bad the sandals fell apart :\

Aida, I thought of you and your great looks of rolled pants with pumps when I bought those.  I have purged most of my black shoes, especially sandals, and need to find another pair.  The Rack didn't have what I was after today, so the hunt is still on.

Aw that's sweet Joy ^^ Well you totally rock the look!

I love all of these outfits on you, Joy. You have such great style, and you look every bit as hip as the inspiration photo, plus a little more polished with your gold watch and bag. I think the roll of the coated jeans is great in the last photo. Too bad about the Eccos. They shouldn't have fallen apart like that!

Sorry about the sandals in the last picture - but that is a great outfit! They all look terrific! I love the leopard pumps with the bf jeans!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Aida, Firecracker and Shevia, thank you for your comments. I don't think the shoes should have fallen apart. The leather is in mint condition. But they are a few years old. I thought of Deborah and the rubber bag. Strange that both shoes crumbled at the same time. Photo below

All of these are so sleek and fun.  The leopard shoes are stunning, and it's probably my favorite version but, having been in KS in the summer, I think the sleeveless versions are amazing.  It's so hard to look chic in the heat.  The layers and the black make it work.  As for the last photo -- great proportions and bad, bad shoes!

Are you kidding me Joy????? These outfits are all so very cool! I think that my favorite is the first one because of the leopard pumps - they add just a little bit of fun to the super chic feel
Of the rest of the outfit. But I love them all and you've inspired me to dig my vest out of the back of my closet and give it a whirl! Also - had to chuckle about the rubber on your shoes. My DH and i used to have a house in the Keys and one time when we were there I pulled out my running shoes which I had stored there in the closet. I put them on and went out for an early morning run. I didn't get any more than 20 yards from the house when the rubber soles on my shoes completely separated from my shoes except for just the tips of the toes were still connected. So as I ran the sole would flap, flap, flap up against the bottom of my shoe! It was hilarious and it was the humidity that had ruined them. Is it possible that yours may have been destroyed by the 'Humidity Gods?' LOL. Whatever - you look great - and I don't know if I've ever told you before, but your hair is gorgeous. I'm sitting here feeling just a little bit sorry for myself that I was born with thin hair and then menopause decided that it wasn't thin enough so for a few years there I was shedding my hair at an alarming rate! It's stopped now but I never got back my original "thickness!" Yours though looks so nice and thick, and shiny, and healthy - and the way you have it cut and styled just adds so much to your overall look. But, back
To these outfits? Bravo! And thank you for posting!

Holy smokes! Awesome! I love all of them and the way you have turned the inspiration pic inside out with the coated jeans and leopard print belt! My fave is the first outfit with the leopard print pumps- be still my heart!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

You look great, Joy! I love the one with the leopard pumps the best but also love the dark sandals -- sadly, I guess you won't be wearing that version again!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Texstyle, these are very small heels. I try for 2" or less and then they actually get worn and are not just sitting shoes. Lately I've needed to replace my small collection and am only looking at pointed toes.
Marley, I appreciated your story. We certainly have plenty of humidity so that may be what killed the sandals. They had been in storage over the winter in a cardboard boot box ( I store sandals for the season when the boots come out).
Thank you all for your comments. I think I will love those little leopards with lots of things, my first patterned pump. I'm not sure what to look for to replace and update the Eccos.
