WIW: Still Trying to Bring Some Spring into Outfits

This is a mish mash of recent outfits formed from my spring closet. It's still chilly, and you have seen much of this before. I'm not sure that my style is going anywhere. 1 is my copy of Amiable's copy of Suz. It features old trouser jeans. 3 is an open weave pullover over a sheath dress. 6/7 shows tucked and half tuck. Suggestions and comments are welcomed!

You always look so pretty! My faves are 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. I know I'm late to the party on the semi-tuck (which I now love), but I still really don't get the half-tuck.

Love, love, love seeing your outfits, Joy.

I just tried to click back through your pictures to choose a favorite, and I love 1 - 5 equally.  I have yet to acquire a taste for pattern mixing so I rate 6 /7 slightly lower, but that's just personal taste.  You'll get better input from our pattern mixing experts.

Oh Joy, I've never seen you looking anything but fabulous. All these outfits are modern with on trend touches, and extremely stylish. Perhaps you are just getting a little bored with your colder weather items? I especially love outfit 1: the cropped white jacket is so spunky with the elegant trousers jeans and striped top. Outfit 2 with the faded denim, pink, blush and burgundy, such beautiful colour palette that looks extra wonderful with your hair. And outfit 5 with the white and light grey, always a fab Spring colour combo in my book, and I love the V-neck layered over the tee. The pattern mixing in outfit 6 makes me happy too, it's gorgeous (and what a beautiful cardi and button-down).

Joy, these are gorgeous, and of course I am honoured and love #1 best!! :)

Is it really warm enough to wear rolled jeans? WOW.

Joining the YLF choir!  You have fab style Joy and I love all your looks!

I am noting your belt and loafers in pic 2.
    All lovely as usual!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I think you look so fab in every one of these, including the stellar patten mixing in 6/7. I would love to copy you in every one of these looks.

  • MsMaven replied 10 years ago

You look spring-like and very pretty in all the outfits.

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

The stripes and floral in 6/7 is so freakin' appealing! Love!

You always look great Joy. If I start feeling meh about my style I find some new shoes usually fix the problem :) :) Love the first outfit & would love to see it with some pointed toes, if your feet like them :)

Really enjoying these lighter looks! I am especially fond of #1, 2, and 5. I'd like to see trendier footwear with #3, even something as simple as pointier pumps. I prefer #7 to #6, the additional layers are much more visually interesting.

Thank you all so much for your replies!
Carter, I think this is the first time I've tried a half tuck, but the blouse was difficult to tuck at all. I ended up doing a full tuck, but the back part kept escaping.
April, this is pretty radical pattern mixing for me and not one person said anything which probably means that no one liked it. I did the same mix about a year ago but buttoned the cardigan. That seemed more successful.
Inge, out are so kind and encouraging. The v neck over the white tee was very comfortable and just the right weight for the day. I was thinking column of white with a third piece.
Suz, it has sometimes been warming up to jean rolling temperatures at mid-afternoon, but I have to confess that I wore sheer nude stockings under the jeans for more warmth. It's too cold for bare legs and feet.
Thank you, Celeste, Ingunn, MsMaven, and Runcarla, for your kind words.
Lyn, those loafers are lighter toned blush in real life. The belt is too long but I love the blush color.
Caro, you are right that the weather messes with my mind. I 'm wearing old round toe shoes in some of these because I didn't want to ruin my newer pointy toed shoes in the rain and mud.
Aida, thank you. I'm working on finding low heeled pointy toe pumps that are comfortable.

#1 is my favourite! And wow... That outfit is a copy of a copy???? Impressive!!!

:) :) Darn weather - we are still having summer temps here grr.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Love you in those light tops!

    Hi Joy --

    Trying and succeeding, I'd say!

I don't know how you got those trouser jeans to look so perfect on you but I'm envious. Love what you've paired them with, and also love #2 for a whole different type of denim look.

All your choices look great and hey -- does style always have to be "going somewhere?" Can't it just look good going nowhere fast? ;)

Given I have a similar sweater as #6&7 I am already partial but when I opened the photos to see the denim stripe combo I fell in love. Wow I really love that combination. #1 is definitely my kind of outfit. I love the jacket and the striped top with the wide leg on the jeans. It looks nautical and spring-like. #2 I like them muted tones proportions and easy chic feel of the outfit. It definitely makes me long for warmer weather. #3 is repeat worthy.

There is a juxtaposition between #s 4 and 5 I find interesting. I admit my bias against too much slouch however to my eye the fit issue is negated by the crisp white. The muted tones in #4 don't work well for me with the slouch -- I am amazed at the difference in my reaction to these two outfits based on color because the fit seems about the same in both. Amazing.

Love the pic 6/7 I'm all for the pattern. All look great and chic

MsKatieKat, the YLF site is full of inspiration :)
Caro, summer seems so remote for us, but I will feel as you do in September with heat hanging around.
Shevia, and Ladywone, thank you for letting me know your preferences. So helpful.
Vix, you are right. It's probably the temperatures still calling for winter things at least to start the day that have me feeling that way.
Day, thank you for sharing your reactions. I was fighting the tee in 4 all day. It is too big but the color blends well with the jacket and is a hard color to find. 5 was comfortable casual.
