WIW: Rust, Blue and Gold, Casual

Inspired by Angie's ensemble post today, I put on rust she'll and open cardigan (EF), faded jeans (Aeropostale thrifted) and gold metallic loafers (Born). Belt is Fossil. I've not worn this combination before. Thank you for the inspiration, Angie.
I welcome your comments and ideas. Are the top and topper too Matchy here? Should I add a small scarf? For a bag I would use a gold metallic day clutch or a have a tawny woven leather bag about the same color as the belt.

Hey, I like that they're matchy-matchy. Looks pretty cool!

Ok, Joy. Lookin' too cute now. Hehe. Really good stuff.

How fab are you? I like the idea of the bag that matches the belt.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

    WOW.

Killer, Joy. That twinset looks super fresh. Woohooo. Go Team Matchy-Matchy.

    Gold belt is another option.

This is really great Joy - love the twinset, what a wonderful color too!

I'm happy that the matched set is working. Angie, a gold belt long enough to wear with low / medium jeans is a wardrobe hole. I'd like something like bronze that could also be worn with my gold metallic jeans and have not found it yet.
No styled hair or makeup when I took these.

Love this, Joy!  Not too matchy matchy at all.  I like the idea of the gold bag to tie in (or is that match :) ) the shoes.

    Looks great!

I like the matchy-matchy-ness! A scarf could be nice but it looks fab on it's own too. The rolled pants make it such chic, casual look.

Great job Joy! A scarf would definitely work but isn't necessary.

Wow! Love this on you! A perfect combination of deeper colour (the rust) and the pastels that suit you so well. April has been a stellar month for you...what with ROG, the fantasy/reality challenge, and the ensemble interpretation.

Beautiful! Rust looks wonderful on you, and so do your jeans. I also really like the gold shoes you chose.

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

Looks great and doesn't have a matchy matchy vibe in a negative way at all.

I really like it, Joy! It's such an unusual color combination, and it looks great on you. I always like a fresh take on the twinset. Far from being too matchy-matchy, your version gets a big thumbs up from me.

Wow I love this interpretation of the rust and blue.  Perfect in my eyes.

This is lovely on you, Joy.  I don't think it's too matchy matchy at all.  A scarf in a combination of the colours would be good, but it all looks great as it is.

I must have forgotten to hit "submit" for my long reply post last night. My addled brain on antihistamines also somehow overlooked a "Killer" from Angie! So exciting and unexpected. Thank you all for your kind comments and encouragement, especially when I try new-to-me ideas at less than a year and a half from age 70 ( although I probably look it already!). Your help is very much appreciated.

  • Tanya replied 8 years ago

Wow, you totally nailed this, Joy.  Such a beautiful version, and rust suits you very well.

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

Well done!  Is there a color you can't wear?  I think the matchy works!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Sandy! Thank you and so good to "see" you on the forum.
Thank you, Tanya and Beth Ann. Rust works better for me than a more blue-toned burgundy, but I think that I can wear both, depending on the other pieces and the saturation.

Joy, You look so cute! The conservative nature of the matching twinset is set askew by the rolled light wash jeans, and then adding the gold  gives it an unexpected cool vibe. I love it!!
