WIW: my take on Angie's tomato, light blue and white

Today I managed a warm enough version of Angie's ensemble of tomato, light blue and white. It felt messy but that was not the colors, probably that the jeans were too long for these flats, worn because they are white.
Jeans are old NYDJs.
Light blue cashmere sweater thrifted to felt down. I grabbed it out of the project box.
Long white shirt from fab member San.
Flats are Cole Hahn
Does this work on me? Is the sweater working or should it go back in the box for felting?

I like it on you, Joy! Felting? Not sure what that really means, but I think you should keep wearing this sweater personally :)

Jackie, thank you for commenting on the sweater. My aunt shrinks and makes felt of old wool sweaters and makes fab things out of the felt. This sweater would probably be part of a baby blanket. It had a hole in it that I mended.

I like it. The proportions are very good.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you, Debbie. I tried a shorter white shirt and the proportions seemed really off.

I like the proportions, too, Joy. The jeans don't look too long, and I like the flats with the outfit. Do you have white or light colored loafers? That could be another style option. The sweater looks soft and fits you well. Is it a color you like to wear? If so, maybe keep it out of the project box for a while and see if there are other outfits you want to wear it with.

Those are great ideas, Sharan. I should get some white loafers. I have some light ( grey and cream) snakeskin loafers that could work. As for the sweater, I am surprised at how much I like this pale blue next to my face. If you think the sweater is worth keeping to wear myself, I will gladly do it. It is a soft cashmere with more body than most I see this year. I think it may be too cropped without a longer layer under it but the color will go well with grey pants or pencil skirt, maybe even black with a white shirt with small black polkadots.

Ooh, it's like getting a new sweater! I bet you have at least a few tops or blouses that you could wear under it to add length as you've done here. I was surprised at the color, because I don't recall seeing you in this shade before, and I think it's very nice on you. The light tone works well with your hair and complexion.

You are right. I have not worn this color and it surprised me that it would be better than just ok. I do have a few older EF pieces in a more midtone shade of this blue but like the lighter blue even better with my skin.

I think you're right about the footwear being too flat for bootcuts. Try a pair of booties? Your cream Pettys maybe.

Joy, the rest of the outfit looks great. Fun colours and gorgeous with your hair. xo

Yes, it's working -especially  fab with your  hair color!

This color combination looks great on you! Good work.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    Oh wow. Colour perfect.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Angie, thank you for pin pointing and solving the problem with the outfit. So often the Pettys come to the rescue.

This works so well. Love the fresh colours on you Joy! I can really see the Pettys working well with it.

I think this looks great Joy.  Agree the Petty's might be a better footwear choice.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

Great take on the ensemble! The soft blue is beautiful on you; I vote to put the sweater into your closet. :)

Agreed that loafers would work well with the jeans. I wonder if a slip-on sneaker might also work.

It really is such a crisp and stunning colour combo, isn't it. Your sweater looks good to me too, Joy and you wear this look extremely well. I think you will feel more polished with a slightly higher heel with the trousers, but this really didn't look messy to me.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I'm glad that the consensus seems to be to go ahead and wear the sweater. I may need to look for a buttondown in this color. It is a difficult one because it is not really an icy light blue although at first glance I would think it was. There is just a bit of warmth in it.
Windchime, I think at least one pair of my sneakers will work but they are not slip on, although I often wear them that way, tucking in the shoe strings. Great idea. They are even white!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Yes definitely try with the Pettys - the shoes were the only thing I could object to here!

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

This looks wonderful and the blue sweater is beautiful on you. I think a heel would look great with the red pants.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Shevia and Sharon, thank you for your helpful comments. I will definitely try a shoe with more heel. I'm also considering shortening the pants or narrowing them. If the Pettys work, that will be the easiest fix.

I totally agree with the other ladies; the soft blue is really gorgeous on you and looks fab with the white and blue.
