WIW: Leopard tube play

I've been trying to put together some high summer outfits with the NAS VC leopard tube skirt. There are still other ideas that I want to try but here are a few.
1/3: inspired by MsMary and her graphic tee with the striped tube skirt, I paired the Fender guitar tee with the leopard. I was not completely happy with this as I need to fill in the wide neckline of the tee. I took off the leather necklace and liked it a little better but need to look for a small cotton scarf instead. The second photo has an added black Ponte knit ancient EF bomber jacket to try to debombshell the skirt. The third photo uses a denim jacket instead.
4: the skirt with a silk Classiques Entiere top in citron. The color does not show up well but I liked it.
5: this time with an oversized silky gold woven tee. Again the color shows up too pale.
6: this time with a black EF silk tank
7: another black tank, Target. It's a bit shorter.
I welcome your thoughts and ideas for styling this skirt for summer.

Fantastic skirt, still! Glad you are having fun with it.
I love the casualizing effect of the graphic T--might wish it were more boxy, since current trends are pushing me to looser fits, with the structured tube skirt. But since the color and tonal match is so good, I'd say wear it.
The citron top is just gorgeous--I sometimes have trouble with this length over skirt but something about the asymmetrical appearance really makes it work.
I like the color in #5 but wish it looked more substantial--that is something I like about top #4, it looks like an untucked top with substance.

I have just ordered this skirt...Vince Camuto leopard...I am having such fun trying to style it for  late summer and with anticipation of fall...I have a dress up reception to go to in two weeks and I am wearing the skirt...I have a creme silk Banana Republic blouse and black strappy sandals...Great skirt and I love your suggestions...

Many great looks here. Love 2 and 4.

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

    I like them all, Joy.

Well, I like #2 the best--and #7. You look so great in a fitted tank! Maybe it's kust the lighting, but the light coloured top doesn't do anything for me. But maybe it is better in person?

Joy, you are making me so jealous that I did not buy that skirt. It's gorgeous on you in each rendition.

What a great skirt and stylings, Joy. My favorites are 1, 3 and 4. I think I prefer 3 over 2 because the denim is more of a juxtaposition to the potential bombshellishness of the skirt. The color and structure of the asymmetry of the blouse in 4 is gorgeous.

I am in LOVE with #4 and #7. Wow. Killer Chic. I am biased towards a more simple look though, Joy. xo

I love look 4 the best!  The skirt looks amazing and fits you perfectly.  I can see myself trying to imitate some of these looks....(copy cat syndrome has hit and I'm heading to my closet to play with my leopard skirt and see what I can come up with.......)

What a crazy wonderful versatile skirt. You definitely demonstrate how leopard can be a neutral.
I so want to buy that skirt so I can have fun copycating.

Well I actually wore 1/2 to a women's meeting where everyone else had on jeans or capri pants, but the knit skirt with the tee felt somewhat casual.  No one commented on the outfit, just on the dessert (key lime bars) that I brought.

Unfrumpted, I was nodding in agreement with your comments.  The Fender tee has the same tones in it.  It is supposed to be a fitted cut I think but is a bit big on me, but not boxy.  The citron top has lots of movement.  I can adjust the length of the skirt a little and maybe it should be worn longer with this top?  The tee in 5 seemed to develop static cling.  That is probably why it doesn't look substantial.  It is polyester rather than silk but usually stands away from the body more.

Crutcher, I want to try a cream or white silky top.  I have a cream long-sleeved buttondown silk shirt that I thought looked like it might work.  I think that this skirt will look fab the way you plan to wear it to your event.  Please post photos.

Meredith, I agree with 2 and 4 as the easiest to wear and most de-bombshelled.  I wish that I had a longer denim jacket.

    Shedev, thank you!

Alana, The light colors are more washed out in the photos than in real life.  They would probably work better if I had dark hair.  I thought that they looked better in person but may be kidding myself.

Suz, You would look great in this skirt.  I did size up from my black lace VC tube skirt from an XS to a S, in case you decide to get one.  You may want to try a couple of sizes.  It does not seem to bag out at all on wearing.

Pil, thank you for your sharp eye.  I got the shirt to try a version of Angie's client Karen's leopard pencil skirt look with a denim jacket.  I think it will be a real go-to look for fall.  The denim jacket was just too hot to wear more than a few minutes.  I have an assymetrical black top that I want to try.  The high-low tops seem to help balance proportions.

I love both the graphic tee and the simple tank with this (not sure from pictures which tank I prefer). Great job styling!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you for helping me with styling.
Angie, simple does look more polished, doesn't it.
Staysfit and Frannie, please show us any outfits you come up with. I still want to experiment with white tops.
Shevia, you have such great style and I would love to see how you would fit a skirt like this into your wardrobe.

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

Joy, I like all of them with slight preference for cream silk top. The sandals are beautiful.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Love the skirt on you Joy:)  And you hit it out of the ball park with the Fender Tee :)  #1, 2 and 4 are my faves.  Really nice look.

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

I think I love the citron best, but they all work so beautifully on you, you can't go wrong.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Mona, Deborah, and Beth Ann, thank you for letting me know your preferences and encouragement. I learn so much. I meant to ask...am I too old to wear such a body-con skirt? I need to know the truth and will not be offended if I am.

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

All the stylings are great but I love 4 the best. As far as can you wear that skirt. ABSOLUTELY!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Debbie, you are so kind. I need to look for more tops like #4. I like that it is woven, not knit, and collapses back onto the body but doesn't cling.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

    Wait a minute...how did I miss this???

YOWZA Joy - way to ROCK the animal print skirt! Love each and every combination, but my heart belongs to the graphic tee/denim jacket combo. Soooooo my kind of outfit :)

  • Emily replied 9 years ago

#1-3!!!! Amazing.  I love it to pieces.  :)

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

I like them all (I have that skirt too so am taking note) but particularly like the ladylike look of #4 and the more casual look of #7.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Amazing looks Joy, you have styled the skirt to perfection. Number four is especially stunning, there is something about that top.
