WIW: Lace Bomber with a Midi Skirt

Inspired by Angie's bomber and midi ensemble post, I had to shop my closet and used last year's lace bomber with an EF tube skirt and EF black silk shell. I felt a high happiness factor in this outfit, although I'm not sure that the patent peep toe booties work that well. My bag, not shown, was a vintage black snake clutch. Do the proportions work? Suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Joy-I love this outfit. I think the proportions look great and I love those booties.
Those EF pieces fit you like a dream.

The tube midi looks so fab on you and the other YLF ladies, it makes me want to try!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Thank you, Debbie. You have this bomber too, don't you? Maybe in the lighter version? The EF base makes a great column of black for a variety of toppers. I think that I will wear the lighter version of the bomber over a light taupe CK fit and flare dress for Easter.

Looks great Joy - I love that lace bomber!

Lyn, it's amazing how easy these tube skirts are to wear. I wish I'd bought the wide striped version last year.

Looks great and I think the shoes add an arty flavor to the outfit. Nicely styled.

  • Marmee replied 10 years ago

    Well done!  Love that bomber.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I think you look fabulous, Joy! I love everything about this outfit.

Joy, you never look anything less than elegant! I love your style!

Do you have any just-over-the ankle booties you could try this winning combo with?

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

You look terrific in this! And to me, the shoes work perfectly. I wonder what makes you think they are not perfect with the rest. Au contraire, their design is a nice complement to the solid black, just enough to flatter without calling all the attention on them.

Gorgeous bomber jacket, I love the lace. YLF :)

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

No suggestions because it is perfect as is. These booties are fab and work perfectly here.

I think the shoes look perfect with this outfit, and the proportions look perfect to me. Beautiful!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, such a great interpretation! Great shoes, but aren't they rather some peep toe sling back sandals/shooties than a bootie?:-)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shevia, Marmee, and Debra, I'm thrilled that the lace bomber is still getting approval. It's an Angie pick I probably would not have noticed on my own.
AJ, an arty flavor is exactly what I wanted.
Krishnidoux, I love your logic about these booties.
Ingunn and Sveta, approval from such stylish ladies makes my day!
Fuzzylogic, i do have some just over the ankle black booties that may work. Thank you for your kind words.

Great take on the bomber and midi look, Joy! You look so long and sleek in that column of black!
I think the shoes work fine. They don't make a big statement, but I don't think they need to unless you want them to. If you wanted something flashier you could wear a lighter color to bookend your hair, or a metallic, or an ankle bootie, but it's not necessary.

Your outfit made me reflect on what wonderful workhorses Eileen Fisher separates can be. They really hold up, and can form the basis for so many varied outfits.

    You look fabulous!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Karie, we must have cross- posted. I'm glad the proportions look ok.
Lyn67, I guess I consider these booties or maybe shooties because of the high vamp. Not having dark hair to bookend, I like to break up the black with some skin.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Parsley, I appreciate your thoughts. I struggle with black footwear but have not found the right metallic bootie to wear with skirts yet, although maybe I should post what I have ( DV metallic "desert boot" wedges) with a skirt to see what the Forum thinks.

Another great outfit Joy!  I think everything is spot on and you look beautiful.

You terrific bomber and midi lass. xo

Always a treat for the eyes Joy!  Well done!

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Super comfy and chic.  Love the shoes with it. Don't change a thing.  Maybe some silver earrings?

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

    Just lovely.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Love this, Joy.  I think the shoes echo the relaxed edge in the bomber -- and I like the bit of sheen.

    Yeah for midis!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shannon, Texstyle, Angie, LACeleste, and Kiwichik , thank you for your kind and helpful comments.
Karymk, this outfit is very comfy. I can certainly try silver earrings.
Beth Ann, yes, Yay for midis! With all the black, I wanted to mix up the textures, the reason for the patent shoes.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Very clean lines!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Don't change a thing, this is a top notch outfit.

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

Perfection! You are exquisite in that lace bomber. Parsley makes an excellent point about the versatility of EF pieces. I must keep that in mind. I certainly love how you wear yours.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

This works very well.  The bomber is a fun twist to this outfit, it's more unexpected than a blazer or cardigan.  Nice job!
