WIW: knit grey jacket 2 ways

Using Angie's formula on Monday, I pulled out my very warm wool blend knit Halogen blazer from NAS a few years ago. For the most casual part of the chilly day I wore a long sleeved Nygaard graphic tee under it. Leopard booties and belt completed the outfit. (1/2). Is it too much to use all that leopard with the tee? The belt is narrow and doesn't show much.
Later I had a class and thought the tee might be too distracting for the children. So it was replaced with a Pleoine crossover striped top and putty SE Petty booties. (Photo 3) I later replaced the leopard belt with a distressed silver grey one.
The scarf was needed for warmth. I'm not sure that it works here.
I used a black puffer coat as it was cold, windy and snowing.
I'd welcome your comments and suggestions for improving either of these outfits.

I love the multiple cat effect in #1. And #3 is just as fab. 11 out of 10 for both looks. You are a true Elegant Eclectic, sweet Joy. And thoughtful to change for class. xo

#1 is so clever and subtle - I love it!  #2 is a little more for my eye but also lovely.

I think both looks are completely fun and and fashion forward.  I'd very happily wear both!   I really like black and yellow stripes with gray and I think it works with the patterned scarf.   I also like the gray with the denim and leopard.  This actually gives me an idea for an outfit I want to try...

ETA: both outfits are actually reminding me of this top which I admired from afar: http://www.farfetch.com/shoppi.....62686.aspx

Both versions are fantastic Joy but that first rendition with the kitty tee just blows me away!

I love outfits with a bit of quirk & humour and you are rocking the pussy cat in outfit 1. In fact I like both these looks and can't wait to have a go at this myself - hmmm if only I had done decent boyfriend jeans.

Meow.  Meow.  Meow.  Love both versions, Joy, and how sweet that you thought your class.  Your grey blazer is such a versatile piece.

I am in love with outfit 1. Its a bold outfit .... and I like that :)

I love your outfits and I love your jacket! I want one just like it. Grey is my new favorite neutral (since I went grey) and knit sounds very comfy.

Thank you for your comments. They really help let me know what works.
Angie, 11 out of 10!? Take a bow for suggesting the knit blazer outfit.
Una, Shannon, Kiwichik, and Neel, I'm rather surprised and happy that #1 is getting favorable comments. I was afraid it was too maximal.
Rabbit, the tee you linked to would be fantastic with grey!
Kiwichik, you must hunt down some BF jeans.
Vicki and Angie, there are children who will ask you if you are a cougar if you wear animal prints! Even without that idea in their heads, the tee could easily have them off on tangents.
JAileen, this jacket is very comfortable but almost too warm. Greys look pretty good with grey hair...less harsh than black. There are so many shades. I like mine clear best, neither too yellow nor too blue or pink.

Oh, thank you so much for posting this, Joy! I have the same jacket, and you are a constant source of inspiration. Both outfits are fab. I would love to copy #1. Dd has a tiger tee, maybe I can "borrow" it from her. :)

  • carter replied 10 years ago

I love them! Especially all the cats...awesome.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Honestly I didn't realize it was "all that leopard" until reading what you'd written, Joy! Both look great to me, so really you've just got two different outfits here :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

    OH. WOW.

Joy, I cannot tell you how much your style inspires me and makes me smile. I just adore #1. Adore it. And now, I think I need to raid my daughter's closet for a cat print tee.

Well, I will round out the favorites contest by mentioning the Pleoine crossover blouse as my fav iteration. The scarf and light boots soften the boldness of the stripe and it looks fab on you! :)

Debora, you have the same jacket? I was wearing it more with the Halogen seamed pencil skirts...black, yellow, and dark purple especially. Only after Angie's ensemble post have I tried wearing it more casually and like it that way. You and Suz need to steal that cat tee from your DDs.
    Carter, thank you.
Aida, I hadn't realized how different these looks are until looking at the photos. The jacket makes an easy third piece.
    Suz, I can't imagine being able to inspire you! That's mind-blowing ;)
Sarah, thank you so much for weighing in on the Pleione top. I'm so glad it looks ok. It's a bit out of my comfort level but looked so good on others that I had to try it.

Love the way you've repurposed this jacket!  I think both versions are strong and repeatable.  Love the kitty!

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

Joy, I got my jacket at NAS, too, maybe 3 years ago? I was also wearing it with my pencil skirts, but I love how you are styling it. I haven't worn it much this year and you've given me renewed inspiration. Now if I can only get DD to come and visit with her tiger shirt before the weather changes! :)

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

In my eyes you just can't put a foot wrong style wise. Truly an inspiration.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

    Both terrific!

  • SarahTheWhite replied 10 years ago

May I beg/borrow/steal all of this? ALL of it! I love it so much... :-)

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

How fun to see some tweaks to an outfit.  Both versions are lovely but I am partial to #1 because I like the nod to the cat top with the shoes.
