WIW: Furry vest casually. ETA photos with white and metallic

Inspired by Angie's blog post today, I wore this mixed faux furry vest with a column of black and leopard booties. Not shown but I used a brown leather hobo bag to pick up the brown in the vest. Seeing the pants in the photos, they look pretty awful. They have been tailored to fit, but trousers are very hard. They always look baggy no matter what is done to them. Be grateful if you still have hips. For the holidays I know that more bling than the small diamond studs I'm wearing is needed. Suggestions welcomed. I have black boots and booties. Would they be better if I repeat this outfit? I feel like it needs something.
ETA: some asked that I try the vest with a column of white. Here it is with pewter booties

That is a very cool vest, Joy, and whole outfit works very well.  I wore a fairly similar outfit today with pewter instead of leopard booties.   I too felt that something more special than plan black booties was needed to liven everything up.
The pants look pretty good on you, they just have a more relaxed, slouchy vibe.  If you are looking for something more fitted may I recommend BR Sloans?  I find them the sleekest and slimmest fitting out of all BR pants, and the quality is pretty good.  I own multiples in various colors.

You look so cute in your furry vest outfit, Joy. I personally like the "bookended animal print", especially as it is a casual outfit. Why not have double the fun?! But you could certainly wear the black booties if you want a slightly sleeker, dressier version.

    I echo Tanya completely.

Joy, that's a fun mixed media vest. Would look cute with that brown leather skirt you probably just put on the return pile.

Fun outfit. I would happily lend you some hips and gratitude, were it possible. If you want to add bling, I think a long necklace with a pendant would go well--something bold, but simple. But as is, I still liked the outfit and didn't find it lacking. Your hair is impeccably styled, by the way.

Thank you for your comments. Tanya, I will try the BR Sloans as it would be wonderful to have some well-fitting trousers as a change from jeans and knit pants. I have a pair of dark pewter booties. That is a great idea. They are not very shiny. I could also use my shiny silver pointy-toe loafers ( thinking as I go here).
El Cee, you make me feel better about the outfit that I am wearing. The degree of warmth of this vest is just right inside.
Angie, I actually had the vest hanging next to that brown leather skirt. I've not yet gotten it returned. What do you think? The leather is so soft and the color is lovely and rich.

Grandfashionista, we must have cross-posted. Yes, I'll take you up on the hip offer. I used to have hips. One of the results of aging is that they disappear. How many women of average size that are over 70 do you know with hips? Your hips are a sign of youth. Thank you for your kind comment about my hair. I am getting used to the length.

Lets see the best with the skirt!

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Yes, I'll do it tomorrow. DH has already gone to bed.

Ooh, I love that vest! I think this is a great outfit!

    Great vest!
I'm wondering about trying some of your creams or taupes for the column of color. The black looks so dark. You could echo your hair color in the main outfit and use the vest as a deeper richer accent.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

    Thank you, Sara.
Unfrumped, that is something I can try. I suspect that something a little less high contrast may work best, but you never know. You have given me some ideas. My really furry vest in black and cream is a definite possibility.

  • Bennett replied 7 years ago

I'm with unfrumped on this. The vest would be the star and pop better over a column of winter white. How about a knee length tunic or dress in cream, with a slim cord belt to define the waistline, and some cream ponte leggings or slim creamy jeans? Your leopard booties would show up fabulously, too.

It looks to my eye like all the darkness has just swallowed you up. I like seeing you light up your space!

  • unfrumped replied 7 years ago

Or, Joy, just a medium color/neutral that is sort of like the lightest color in the vest.

  • Janet replied 7 years ago

That's a great vest. I would like to see this with metallic, shiny booties instead of the leopard print. It is, overall, a darker outfit that we're accustomed to seeing on you, so it feels like you need a little bright or bling to lighten it up and pick up your amazing hair.

What a fab vest! I think Tanya may be onto something with those BR pants. Though you do look good as is.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Bennett, if it looks ok and the weather cooperates, I will try your dress idea tomorrow. Thank you.
Unfrumped, good idea and I will search my closet.
Janet, I will try to add a photo of shiny booties, although this is with a column of white rather than black.
Diane, I really hope that those BR pants will work. I had great luck in the past with BR Martins before they were discontinued.

  • Bennett replied 7 years ago

Oh, oh, oh! NOW we're talkin'!!!! Literally, night and day difference! You are now the center of attention, the fabulous vest is in the spotlight....

    YLF! YLF! YLF!

Really like the white agnist the fur.

  • Bonnie replied 7 years ago

I like it best with the white column, too. The vest is really interesting and fits you well.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

Joy, that vest is gorgeous, and I love how you're wearing it over the column of black. I know it looks much more rich and beautiful in person than can come through in the photo. I like your idea of shiny silvery loafers for the next time, especially if you have some shiny silvery bling for jewelry. I could see a layered-jewelry look with this outfit, or a long pendant with some sparkle or shine. I prefer the lower contrast of the dark column to the higher-contrast white column outfit.

  • Style Fan replied 7 years ago

I really like the white outfit.  The vest stands out as the star of the show.  The other outfit looks great too.

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

You look terrific in that vest, Joy!  I'm so sorry that pants that fit are such HEWIs for you!  I think your slight frame work really well with the fur -- I've rejected every one I've tried as just too bulky a look!

I like the white option best, although I hasten to add that dark colors don't photograph easily. I also think the vest would work with burgundy or teal.
