WIW: From the Depths of the Donation Bag, a knit shell

Inspired by Angie's blog ensemble this morning, I scoured the closet then remembered the donation bag. This outfit is almost entirely, except for leather jacket and booties, from that bag. Does this work? Should jeans, shirt, and/or shell go back in the bag?
In the past I have mostly worn the silk shirt with my black furry vest, also in the donation bag but it may get another season if still on trend.
The jeans fit well but I've been off boot cuts. Should I reconsider?
The third photo is yesterday's outfit. I've shown this before except with black flats. Do the peep-toe booties work?

I think it totally works Joy!  I especially like the pattern on the blouse and how well it plays  with the booties.
Great outfit from yesterday as well.  I think the flats work, though I did like it a tiny bit better with booties.

Thank you for your detailed observations, Tanya. Very helpful as I find it hard to objectively judge new looks on myself.

I like your title – I relate – my donation bags hang around a couple of weeks.  I think your outfit works well, nice shirt and shell. The bootcuts fit you to a T (I just purchased a dark-wash pair), I'm not loving the wash though, or not with these toppers. If they were mine I would dye them indigo or black.

I think your outfit works really well. I agree with Tanya about the blouse. Can't comment on the peep toes because I have a poison eye for them.

I love the shirt and jeans-- great visual interest!

    #2. WOW. Killer for sure.

LOVE the booties in #3. So gorgeous and trendy, Joy. xo

Is amazed that this outfit got a K rating, but have felt happy with it all day. Gracie, my donation bag was supposed to be taken to the donation site last week but DH forgot it. I guess the pieces were meant to stay, especially after a Killer :)

Worth keeping for sure! You look great in both outfits. I think the peep-toes definitely work in photo #3.

Joy, I have been waiting to get back to this all day! What a terrific save! I guess it's a good thing sometimes to have a "holding zone." You look fantastic in #2. Love your interpretation and I think both items are worth keeping.

I do think the peep toed booties work but I prefer the black booties slightly with that combination.

Good save, I say! Those pants look really lovely on you, especially with the python booties. SUPER interpretation of the formula in #2. It looks alright with the jacket too, but feels a little heavy visually. The peep toe shoes in #3 works, but I agree with Suz that perhaps black booties would work a bit better (with the pants rolled up so a sliver of skin shows between pants and booties).

Wow! I'd say your shell, shirt, and jeans just received a new lease on life at your house. I love the jeans with the ankle boots in #2.

I love both outfits on you, Joy. Keep the items in 1-2 a while longer. You look great in bootcuts, and I like the color play of all the items together. I was laughing at your title and even more when I saw you created an entire outfit out of donation-destined items! I was thinking I might have a knit shell or two hanging around, but in this instance, I guess I was a little more efficient at donating. Mine are gone!

Oh, and yes, I love the booties with the outfit in 3.

I think there is room for one or two bootcuts in everyone's closet -- even it it's not your dominant silhouette.  These have a beautiful fit, without too much flare.  As for the vest/shirt.  Beautifully styled!  Sometimes a new styling is all that's needed to refresh and item.  Brava!

(Peep toes definitely work in #3).

GREaT save of the knit shell!! I am getting nervous because I have 5 big bags of clothes on the way out the door. 2 left yesterday to the kids' school. They have donation days every 2-4 weeks so I save the bags and send them in when needed. Just last week I pulled out a chambray shirt that I've put back in rotation...wonder what else I might lose....oh well. Glad you made a great save :) You look great today too!

All these fab finds coming from the donation bag? Excellent excavating to create your own version of the ensemble. I really like the second outfit, too.

#2 is fantastic - save the shell! And I always love a good crossover top!

Thank you to all who took time to look and comment. You have convinced me that these pieces deserve another chance with new styling. Jackiec, I probably would not have missed these pieces if they were gone, but it is fun to find a new way to wear them. The shell is nice but too heavy for our hot weather. It is perfect for wearing over a shirt.
