WIW: Combat Chic #1

Using Angie’s blog photos and what is in my closet, this outfit was inspired by #1, Architecturial Darkness.
What do you think?
Jeans are Paige, Old Sweet Pea assymetrical Top, Michael Michael Kors coat, Flex booties, Makowsky leather bag from consignment bought to compliment the booties. Some of the Finds are similar items.
If this outfit is a success, I want to try these booties with skirts. Comments and suggestions welcomed. You have so many good ideas.

Ooh, Joy! The bag and boots are perfect together! This feels so modern to me, it’s from the future!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Rachy, you made my day! My family will be impressed.

This looks fab! I love the jeans and combat boots, perfect together and perfect fit. I like the coat and bag with the black sweater. I would only add a scarf for warmth (getting REALLY cold here), but otherwise, can’t improve on perfection!

ETA, just sayin... I like this ten times better than the wide crops, but to each her own preference, of course.

Thank you, cjh, it is cold here too with many inches of new snow. ( see photos from our windows) I can add a woolen scarf that was a gift with a plaid of dark reds, blue, green and black for warmth or 2 and 3 also in Finds below. They would add warmth but are not wool. The first scarf looks more red than in real life.
Which is best with this outfit?

    Perfect!

Love those boots and can’t wait to see them with skirts. I like the red and grey plaid scarf to pick up the tones in the bag.

I love this on you! Feels hip and casual and very nicely put together!

Really nice, Joy! That's an outfit I would steal from you. :)

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Firecracker, I would be honored for you to steal the outfit.
    Thank you, Glory and Torontogirl.
Karen, I hope they work with my knife pleated skirt like the picture in the blog. Thank you for the scarf preference.

Wonderful outfit! The boots and bag combination is great - matchy-matchy in the coolest way.

  • Gigi replied 5 years ago

    NICE.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you for your comments, Katerina and Gigi. They give me confidence to wear this type of outfit.

One of my favorites here Joy!
The richness of the bag and boots with the dark denim ....love !

  • Jane replied 5 years ago

Love the detailing on the boots. It is a super outfit.

Such pretty photos, so much snow.

  • Brooklyn replied 5 years ago

Fabulous! I vote add the blue Cambodian scarf.

  • Mainelady replied 5 years ago

Love this! Joy, your outfits always inspire. This is one of my favorites. Whoo hoo, love those kick a— combat boots!

Great outfit and very true to Angie's inspiration photo. As for scarves, they all will work well, given the cold conditions I would wear the warmest scarf. I love the brightness that scarf #1 would add to this outfit.

This looks great to me. I like the proportions you’ve put together. I cannot speak on snow, as even now we are over 70 for highs this week. Snow looks so pretty, but it’s tough to get around in, and I cannot even wrap my head around some of the cold temps people are experiencing right now.

I love combat boots with skirts and leggings. This makes me want some combat boots back in my life. I look forward to seeing what else you put together.

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

    One of my favorites!

  • cjh replied 5 years ago

Love the scarf choices. My order of preference, 3, 2, 1. But I’ve been wearing two, one as warming accessory and another over it under my coat as part of my outdoor wear. Stay warm, everybody!

  • Sonce replied 5 years ago

The quilting on those booties is to die for!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

I would say combat chic fabness! Love the graphic integrity (and the glitz) of the hardware on the puffer and the substantial cuffs on the jeans!  texture on the boots is gorgeous, too!:-)

Love it- one of my favourites of yours.  Does the coat have a zip lining too, or are you wearing another jacket underneath?  And - I really like how you've chosen burgundy patent instead of a predictable black for the boots and bag :)

    This looks great, Joy.

  • nemosmom replied 5 years ago

Ooooh I love this look on you! Those boots are divine. My vote is for the stripey scarf with the dots.

  • Bonnie replied 5 years ago

I like this look on you. I'd like to see it with a skirt, too.

  • kkards replied 5 years ago

    love!

    FABULOUS

    You nailed it. Nicely done.

    Pure love, Joy.

Thank you all so much for your comments.

Lisa, these boots had more of the combat look than any of my others, including black but I may use a black pair of ankle boots in the future with a long black tube skirt.  The coat has a short zipper just for the top part, not a zip in lining.

Jane, yes so much snow.  It has brought lower temperatures too.  Maggie (the dog) loves to go out and eat it and roll in it.  That makes for slow dog walking.

I ended up wearing the first scarf for warmth but all three looked ok.  The outfit felt good and was warm enough for the weather.  Angie, thank you for the idea.  I will try one of the skirt outfits tomorrow for my class and trying a new restaurant in town that specializes in savory pies.

Joy, I freaking love this SO MUCH! <3333

  • Ket replied 5 years ago

Oh my goodness!!! You look so chic! I think this look should be a regular for you!

I love the red plaid scarf! There is something so 90s and yet so current and fresh about pairing tartan plaid with combat boots. It would look smashing on an already smashing you!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you so much, Cindy and Keturah. I do think this could be a regular for me and nice change. I wore a skirt combat look today although it was not as bad a$$ as the blog ideas. I used the same boots.

  • texstyle replied 5 years ago

Missed this one before but it is fantastic to me!  Now I want those boots. But I will have to admire them from afar as I have cold weather boots and not too much cold weather here.
