WIW: Column of Color

Inspired by Angie’s blog post on Friday, I have been trying columns of color while staying in place except for dog walks and some weed pulling.
Missing is Saturday’s outfit, a column of rust. Sorry, I did not get a photo but it was russet EF pull on pants with a rust Madewell pleated swingy top and long Halogen rust cardigan. I used gold metallic flat loafers and a gold crossbody small bag and black face mask.
Photos 1/2: she green EF pants with graphic tee and Philosophy long green cardigan. Face mask is old Gap bandana sized cotton scarf. I also wore green beads as a necklace.
Today’s outfit was a column of mustard, all inexpensive sale pieces with leopard print bag and Croc flats. My bandana is really old goldish print. The bag is larger than usual, big enough to hold all the stuff I need, but fabric, so light weight.
I welcome your styling ideas and ideas for improvement
. My hair is long and awful. If I go outside I wear a sun hat.

Your mustard column is great, but #1 totally speaks to my current interests right now: camo and zombies! :)

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

These are both great looks Joy - 1 is really interesting with those patterns!!  And I like the column of mustard.

The hair looks fine but I understand the pain......

I like #1 more because the colors are tonal, not the same, but the mustard color is so good on you too!

I've missed your WIW's Joy! So nice to see them again. Your zombies are just PERFECT! I love the mustard, too!

Your columns are lovely, and I am always so impressed by your talent for accessorizing. Great shoes, bags, jewelry and glasses! Your hair looks good to me.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Rachylou, you crack me up. Zombies have an appeal right now.
Thank you, Sal, Suntiger, nemosmom and ChtistelJ for your king words. Today I may try a shirt dress if it fits. The hair has reached a length where it wants to flip up. I am tempted to do a big hair back comb and let it flip.

I am so happy to see your outfits, which are always spectacular. And I know I have said it before, but you have the most beautiful hair I’ve seen.

I love the tee, especially the way you styled it. Also love the bag. Overall you look great and pulled together.

Fun green outfit - love graphic tee and printed scarf!
Great accessories game - earrings, necklace, sunnies and bags add interest and polish.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

You are columning with attitude. I like it! Well done!

I LOVE your white sunnies, and the scarf-masks are a fabulous match with your outfits. I expected nothing less :)

Sweet Ruth, I hope you are staying strong, safe and healthy, and have support. Much love. xo

Nice! I like your take on the C of C. Very fun outfits.
Your hair looks good to me...

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Preppy Pear, Angie, slim cat, MsMaven and Catherine, thank you for lifting my spirits with your kind words. Angie, when I find white spec frames that fit, I grab them. Most fall off if I bend over.

  • JAileen replied 3 years ago

Two great outfits!  The mustard is very smart, but the other one is fun.  Have your grandchildren seen it?  I bet they think grandma is pretty cool!

  • replied 3 years ago

My hair does the dumb flip thing too :/ Braiding when it's wet helps a bit.
Think of it as an experiment. Since we have to leave it alone for the foreseeable future, we'll see how it (hopefully) sorts itself as it grows :)

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, JAileen. The grandchildren have not noticed that tee yet. They are most interested in my bracelets yet. I hope to see them for Mother’s Day but it has been over a month since I have seen them in person. DDIL is on meds that suppress her immune system.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Suntiger! We must have cross posted. I will try braiding. It I’d driving me crazy. I tried rollers when it was wet but it is still wanting to do it’s own thing.

  • Mainelady replied 3 years ago

I love these! I love the way you coordinate your scarves. The mustard....my favorite!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Mainelady, you are the Queen of Coordination. I am still working on bracelets, major warm weather accessories.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

Love the tee! Columns of color in mustard is great too!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 years ago

These are great outfits. I have thought about the column of color, too, but couldn't figure out an outfit. Leave it to you, Joy, to have just the right pieces to run with it! I especially love the column of mustard. It's a very Joy look--elegant, unique, and chic. I am with Rachy about the first one, too--very fun with that quirky tee. It's so fun when you come up with these unexpected elements.
Your hair looks great, but I know the feeling of wanting/needing a salon visit!

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Fab interpretations. I love the mix of patterns and textures in 1.
    Stay well and strong!

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

Fabulous Joy - a column of colour is just so effective. YLF!

  • unfrumped replied 3 years ago

    I love # 1, with your sneakers.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you for your helpful comments, Shevia, Firecracker, Brooklyn, torontogirl and unfrumped. Those silver sneakers are my favorite. They are basically slip on with bungee cord type laces, very light weight so good for travel too. They are ECCOs from a few years ago. The ones I have on are duplicates of an earlier pair.

  • karen13 replied 3 years ago

Love these - the colors are so what I"m craving right now. I hope you capture the rust outfit and share - it sounds fab too.

  • Star replied 3 years ago

Great outfits, especially no 1 for me.  also love the accessories.

  • Star replied 3 years ago

BTW, your hair does not look awful.  so many people are complaining about their hair currently yet most of the time it does not look bad at all.  Sometimes we just need to look at ourselves with fresh eyes :)

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Karen13 and Star. I will try to wear the rust outfit again soon. It is more of a fall color but I was able to make a column of the color. I also hope to wear a floral on blue column for Mother’s Day.
