WIW: Cobalt/Black/Grey

Following Angie's ensemble today I shopped my closet and found a couple of possibilities. It is still warm and humid here, so these are light weight.
1: old EF slouchy silk pants, EF grey silk tank, Halogen cobalt jacket, EF shoes, Target tassel necklace. The jacket is a bit too warm although it is rayon.
2: all EF version. Same except that I subbed an EF sapphire linen cardi for the jacket and added an EF silk scarf (consignment).
Do proportions work? How do you feel about the trousers?

Oh Joy.  You look beautiful.  I love everything about this ensemble.

I think the proportions work great.  And I adore the EF slacks on you.

    Both look great from here!

Cobalt is a great color on you! I wonder what it would look like with the tank partially tucked in the front. Your cardi has really interesting lines but I feel like they are slightly clashing with the straight hem of the tank. In terms of the trousers, I like the relaxed fit and it works very well on you. Great look.

I really like the dramatic impact of the first outfit - the second outfit is also very nice but a more subdued version.

    Oh!  Absolutely fab!

  • celia replied 8 years ago

I love it. Are the pants ( for the lack of better word ) tight in the ankle like sweatpants ?

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

I love #1. So dramatic! That jacket is gorgeous, Joy.

#2 is very polished and pretty. I love that scarf on you. You wear cobalt so very well!

The proportions are great for both outfits. The pants are awesome!

Thank you so much for your comments. They are very helpful.
Stephanie, I will try the top tucked in front. The pants have a rather high rise and my eye needs to adjust. I have the top tucked in one side to create a diagonal line.
Celia, the ankles are tapered but not tight like jogging pants. I tried to peg and roll, but it would not stay.

FABULOUS. You nailed it again, Joy.

Love it, Joy! Cobalt a great color for up you, especially with the black and gray companions!

    Beautiful!  Love that cobalt jacket!

I love it! You look so great in this, and I also like how the scarf sort of blends and ties the whole thing together.

You look fabulous Joy.  That shade of blue is lovely with your white hair.  I really like both outfits but the scarf adds a nice element in the second one.  I think the pants are very flattering on you and a nice neutral.

Joy that jacket in #1 is fabulous on you. Cobalt looks amazing with your skin and hair coloring. I adore the first outfit, plotting on how I can copy even though the only similar piece I've got is a jacket. The second more casual version is cute too. Is that a diagonal hem on the tee?

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

    Thank you for commenting.
Aida, the hem on the top is straight but my favorite semituck this season has been on one side so that the hem forms an asymmetrical diagonal.
Cheryle and Sarah The White, I liked the scarf with this outfit too.
Una, I'm glad that you like the jacket. I need to form some outfits around it so that it gets more wear.
Carole, Angie is right. Cobalt does work well with black and grey.
Angie, thank you. I hope your arm feels better.

Your look gorgeous. I have a slight preference for the jacket version.

  • replied 8 years ago

I am loving the side semi tuck as well, Joy.
I agree with Aida that the topper is so very nice on you.
I think I might prefer the simplicity of #1 slightly.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

UmmLila and Smittie, thank you for expressing your preference for the jacket version. I have gotten away from jackets but know that they look much better than cardigans as I need the structure they give. I needed the reminder.

Lovely renditions.  I especially love 1 with the necklace, Tres Chic!!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 8 years ago

Love this, great rendition of the ensemble. Fabulous jacket and necklace!

  • Debbie replied 8 years ago

Joy-Thank-you for posting these! You look great. Cobalt is definitely your color. You are always an inspiration to me

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Dally and TracyLiz, thank you. The necklace seemed a good way to participate in the fringe trend.
Thank you , Debbie. You inspire me too.

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Both beautiful. I would also love to see version 1 with the scarf instead of the necklace. That jacket is lovely.

  • Summer replied 8 years ago

I love both outfits, Joy.  Your closet is a veritable treasure trove!

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

I like both outfits. The side tuck is a great idea.

  • Cerinda replied 8 years ago

Oooh, love both.  I particularly like the polish of the first and the ease of the second -- a good reminder of how much difference accessories can make.  The tuck might be an interesting detail.

  • replied 8 years ago

Both are perfect, I agree!  Just different in terms of structure and "formality" and a great way to show how versatile your EF pieces are.
