WIW: Casual Ensemble with White Sneakers

I have had these sneakers hidden in their box in a guest room closet for a couple of years! Encouraged by Angie's ensemble post today I tried a version from my closet. The cargos are the closest I have to khakis but I will also try with denim clams. This is a post and run but I would like your suggestions and comments to see what works and what doesn't. I think last time I posted these pants rolled, a messier roll was suggested. Does this work?

I love it!  You look great and the white sneakers and the messy roll totally work.  So sporty fresh. :-)

I love when Fabbers are able to take Angie's ensemble post and find the items in their closet and where it ASAP. I love this combination on you Joy and adore the messy roll.

Joy, you're making me rethink my original view that it would be almost impossible to  make white sneakers look intentional AND fashionable. I think it looks great and I'm surprised! ;) (I mean that in the best way possible!) I like the messy roll.

Looks great, love the sneakers with the chinos. Wish there was a pair of these in the back of my closet too!

    It works :)

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Yep .. Totally works! And you should wear those sneaks more often Joy. They look lovely on you :)

Oh yes! This really works Joy. I think you hit the right balance by pairing quite a smart button-down with the khakis and sneekers. Plus you kept the colours minimal.

Well no one gagged at the white sneakers at my meeting this morning :)
Without Angie's ensemble I would never have put this together. This was the only white buttondown ironed and ready to go but I do have short boxy one that's more of a tuxedo look.
Christy, without Angie's example, I would agree with you that there is no way to make this sort of white sneaker look stylish.

You look so cute, and comfortable.  Win, win!!

Love, love, LOVE! the peg roll in your pants. To me it does not look messy – from the side it almost looks tailored. Great bookending with the shirt!

I think you look great.  To my eye what makes this work is the roll of you pants.

This is great Joy! The colors in the outfit really make the white sneakers work.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I changed into old sneakers about the color of my pants todo some yard work and the outfit lost it's crisp look. Angie is a genius.

One of my favorite outfits of yours Joy! Love the crisp white with the cargoes. This outfit brought a huge smile to my face. So cool!

Pretty impressive to pull out a two-year-old pair of unworn white sneakers and end up with something so stylish and fashion forward! You look fantastic! Interesting that the white sneakers looked better than the other pair. Angie is a genius, and you're a quick study.

I really think the button-front shirt and the great tonal pale neutrals is what does it, for me. Yes, you could do denim, but the low-contrast really works.

How fun that you already had these pieces in your closet.  This works for me, I like the messy roll here.

Joy, you are nothing short of amazing!!

Awesome outfit, Joy! You look like you could be illustrating Angie's post. I can't believe you had the perfect white sneakers tucked away, ready for their appearance now, right on trend. You put together the most stylish looks without having to shop. I really like the cargos and the way they fit you. I love the cargo look, and so many that I see in the stores or online are skin-tight. The roll looks good!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you all for your kind and helpful comments. Firecracker, these cargos are from Target a few years ago. Before they changed their fits, their slacks used to fit me just right. The shirt is thrifted and also an old purchase. The bag is a fairly new Kate Spade following Angie's orders that I needed a white bag. I used it since I don't have a fashion backpack.

Joy, are you sure you aren't traveling with Angie this summer, because you look perfect and ready to go. I love this outfit and I'm so happy you brought these pants into the light of the summer sun. You've got this ensemble down and I like the way you roll. In fact, I roll in a neat fashion and I need to do it more like yours, messy, loose and cool.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Hah. How fun. Sporty Lux and VERY on trend.

    Killer

You nailed it. You ALWAYS make me smile, incomparable Joy. Thank you for being you. xo

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank YOU, Angie. I hate to think where I be without your inspiration and encouragement.

Love your outfit- nice bookending with your hair! And I like the matching phone case:)
I still have problems with the white sneaker look for myself and wonder if it has to do with haircolour too- bookendingwise?!?

  • LACeleste replied 9 years ago

    Wow Joy!  You look incredible!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Looking so good Joy…I absolutely love your messy roll.  Please give me lessons!  Maybe a JoyTube video?

  • Mamavalveeta03 replied 9 years ago

You styled these pieces in such an adorably chic and stylish way. Plus, (and I don't know how you feel about these words, but it's something I strive for at age 54 with a 16-yr old daughter!) "age appropriate." I'd love to see the outfit with a pair of Supergas. Maybe in navy or grey. But it certainly works, as is. Great job!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Denise, my messy roll comes from just doing it and not trying too hard. I don't think I could duplicate the roll .
Jazz, I think bookending with white hair helps a lot, but one could use a white bangle, tee, hat, or casual scarf.
MamaV, those are good looking sneakers. I'm not familiar with the brand.

    That looks cute!
