Oh, wow! You nailed it Joy.

Thank you, Torontogirl, Murph11 and Diane. You were fast. I like to play with tonal neutrals and texture.

Ginger replied 8 years ago
Wow! A symphony of neutrals! This is perfect for you.

I think it looks great! I might be tempted to shorten the pants by just a fraction ....?
-
Angie replied 8 years ago
#4 is FABULOUS. Better without the scarf to my eye. (Trousers might need a little shortening).
-
viva replied 8 years ago
I also prefer without the scarf -- it allows the look to be more fluid or something. But gorgeous, Joy. You really know your palette well. So lovely. And I envy your waist!!!!

Joy replied 8 years ago
Thank you for taking time to look and comment, Angie, Ginger and Lisa. I agree that these trousers need to be shortened since I no longer wear heels with them. I've been trying to decide whether or not to keep them.

I love this! Agree with Angie it's even better sans scarf! The belt is fab!

Oh, I really like it with the scarf (!)
-

I personally love the look. You pull it off marvelously.

Joy replied 8 years ago
Thank you, Viva, Mary, Sterling and Rachylou. I had not intended to wear the scarf but needed it for warmth. It usually came off inside.
My jackets are being eyed with the idea of trying belting again.

Like #4, colors are great with your hair and skin tone. I would shorten the slacks.
-
Mirjana replied 8 years ago
Wow! Great outfit, I like the colors , # 4 is my favorite and agree sans scarf and trousers need a little shortening.

Joy - this is a beautiful outfit!! Wonderful on you. I love how you have pattern mixed belt to jacket - very elegant!! The jacket I have on my thread is 33" fingertip length on my and the belt I'm wearing sits much lower. Is that not your natural waist? It looks by eye about there. I have my belt sitting right above my hip bones. But this is gorgeous on you, just a different look. I wish I could do that and look good!!
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
Griffin, thank you for looking. Yes, this belt is at my natural waist but I think belting lower would look better. All y jackets are too short but I could experiment with a tunic shirt or even a simple belt less trench.

Deborah replied 8 years ago
This is just stunning Joy. I do like the scarf version too. You have nailed it.
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
Linder and Mirjana, thank you for your helpful comments. The trousers need to go to the tailor. The waist also needs to be taken in as they slip down during the day.
Deborah, thank you.

Joy -- You look stunning in those pale, soft neutrals. This is a fabulous outfit with or without the scarf. I think the belt is a fine width.
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
Thank you for the encouragement, El Cee. I do love the soft pale neutrals.

Yay! my partner in belting over a blazer today :) I love the coordinating neutrals!

Joy replied 8 years ago
Thank you, . You nailed the belt over blazer better than anyone. You need the bow belt in Angie's post :)

Gorgeous! I love all of the textures. What a beautiful scarf, so special to have it from the artist.
-
Jaime replied 8 years ago
You are an inspiration! I do prefer without the scarf.
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
Lucy and Shevia, thank you so much. I really love the scarf. It is a linen fabric.

Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago
Nicely done, Joy! I, too, like the outfit best without the scarf, but understand the need for a warm neck!
Since you are debating the trousers and wanting to get them altered, I wonder if you have a pair of ankle pants or slim trousers that will work when the weather warms a bit? (I'm thinking of the inspiration photo that Angie showed, and I thought maybe you had something like that. Perhaps even a skinny jean.)
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
I do have EF slim knit trousers in a light grey, white cropped jeans, and dark denim cropped skinny jeans. Any may work. I will have to try. thank you for the idea. As to the trousers I am wearing, I have been deciding whether or not to keep them at all. Right now I am leaning toward keeping and having them altered because it is so hard to find trousers that are not baggy in the rear. What I question about these trousers is their strange waistband with two sets of belt loops, a set for a wide belt on top and narrow ones underneath. They are substantial and make a statement, so I wear something long over them.

Suz replied 8 years ago
Lovely soft textures and neutrals on you, Joy, and this is great! I agree with keeping and altering the trousers for the length.

anchie replied 8 years ago
Such a harmony of neutral colors. Beautiful.
-
approprio replied 8 years ago
Loved this when you posted it in the other thread, love it here too! I think this could look even more fab with your gold jeans. Have you tried that?
-
Joy replied 8 years ago
Thank you, Suz, Anchie and Approprio. Suz, I think that I will hold off until next fall to decide about shortening the trousers. I'm on medication with the side affect of weight gain and wonder if that will happen and if these or many of my clothes will still fit.
Approprio, I had not thought of wearing the blazer with my gold jeans. Thank you for the idea.

Joy, I saw this when you posted your scarf in a different thread and LOVED it. So glad to see the whole thing. It's so awesome that you're out there just casually putting together things that Angie has suggested, even before they've been suggested!
