WIW: a few attempts to put Spring in my life

The daffodils want to bloom but the cold and snow keep them closed.
Some recent outfits with a touch of spring. These are experiments that turned out just ok to meh. Suggestions are welcome!
1: Halogen yellow raisin skirt with Target Chanal-esque jacket and dotty silk shirt and scarf.
2: Same yellow skirt with ivory silk shell and bone jacket which may be too dated.
3/4: JCrew camel skirt with black cashmere sweater
5: Turquoise Halogen skirt with ivory shell and black knit Gibson jacket. This is also the unveiling of a new Kate Spade bag that can also be used as a clutch.
6: Buttoned up kimono top over olive-grey jeans. I don't think this worked.
Actually, is there anything that you like about any of these outfits? It looks like a cold week ahead but I don't think I'll want to repeat any of these.

The first is my favorite. I like the proportions and pattern mixing.

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

I really love #4! The clutch is so great and meshes well with the streamlined outfit to me, but I think the scarf in the other picture maybe competes a bit with it. I could also see one bold accessory in a similar color as the scarf working well. #5 looks very springy and sophisticated, too. You look so pretty in turquoise.

#1- hello, Chanel!! Love the colour selection and pattern mixing! Expertly done!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love your colorful skirts! You look fantastic in each one of these outfits. And it's another cold week here too. I wish spring would arrive sometime soon!

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Love #1 and #5! You look lovely as always in 2, 3, and 4, but for some reason those outfits just didn't knock me over like the other two. To me, #6 doesn't seem to fit your style as I know it. I've only been around a few months, so take that with a grain of salt. It seems to overwhelm you though, where your typical outfits highlight you. Does that make sense?

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Columbine and Fuzzy, #1 was probably my favorite of the bunch. Thank you for your comments.
Aubergine, are you thinking of a necklace or bracelet? I will have to try shopping my jewelry box. That is a good idea.
Karie, these are the same skirts that beautiful MaryK has in about every color ( in 1/2 and 5). Argh, the weather. We are expecting more snow tomorrow.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

The yellow is so springlike! #1 and #4 are my favorites but you look good every day.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Carter, you make perfect sense. I 'm thinking of having the tunic in 6 shortened to more of a summer jacket to see if that helps. I like the print and the colors work with other spring/summer things but the length is a challenge.
Shevia, your preferences are so helpful to me. Thank you both for commenting

  • Dee replied 10 years ago

I really like #5 best. The proportions and colors work together really well. On #1, the proportions and fit are great. You look great in the yellow! Shortening #6 sounds intesting. I agree with carter that it's a bit oversized/overwhelming on you.

Joy, I think your posts, more than anyone's, make me sometimes long for a larger wardrobe. Every time the seasons begin to change, you reveal such treasures! These are all so fresh, bright, happy, and yes, spring-like!  My favourites are 1, 2, and 5. The bright skirts are a brilliant way to bring spring to your step! :)

  • suzanne replied 10 years ago

I love #1 for the shades of yellow and the pattern mixing. It is just classic and I think it's a keeper. I would keep it in rotation. It looks great on you!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Dee, thank you for your wisdom. My biggest shopping problem is liking things that overwhelm me.
Suz, your seasonal changing out closet strategy really is working well for me. I have come to realize that, although I have long wanted a small closet...everything together...I have learned that I probably get tired of pieces just looking at them all the time. By putting things away for several months, they seem like new again and that has drastically reduced my urge to shop for new things. I had a small closet that I loved when I lost weight, but I was also still needing to replace the old that no longer fit each season, so there was lots of turnover. Thank you.
Suzanne, I'm glad that you think #1 works and is worth repeating.

I am knocked out by 1. WOW.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

My absolute favourites are the yellow Chanelesque oufit and the one with the Nehru collared tunic. I don't believe I have seen you wear yellow before and it looks beautiful on you.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I was searching for the meh outfits ... I couldn't find it. I think I like all of them but 1,2, 4 and 5 are clear winners. The Kate spade bag and the orange clutch are beautiful. Cute skirts.

Not a big fan of 6, but that's because of my own aversion to high necks. But it doesn't look anywhere close to meh! Great set of outfits Joy and springy indeed!

  • Golden replied 10 years ago

They are all nice but my favs are 1 & 5! Love the yellow and the blue.

  • Asingh replied 10 years ago

Joy, you've put together some great outfits, my favs. being #1, #3 and #5! YLF!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

#2 is my fav, and you look very Spring-y in all these lovely outfits!

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

I really like the halogen skirts - love the colours. I like the yellow skirt with both jackets & wonder what it would look like with lighter coloured shoes - the black seems a little heavy. I really like the turquoise skirt and the waybthevscarf picks out that colour & ties everything together - definitely not meh.

  • Angela K replied 10 years ago

I must agree #1 and #5 are my favs, (I luv bright colors!)  but I think all the outfits are worth repeating. :)

  • Helena replied 10 years ago

Very nice - the beautiful blues in #5 are my fave!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

I like 5 and 6 a lot as is, and vote repeat those for sure.  #1 is interesting but I'd rather see the yellow jacket with a black bottom and the skirt with white or another neutral so it really is the star.  Right now the jacket and skirt look like two statement pieces that are vying for the spotlight.

  • replied 10 years ago

    1 is absolutely super!

  • adorkable replied 10 years ago

I agree that 1, 2, and 5 are the best - but they all look spectacular.

  • Marina replied 10 years ago

First of all, daffodils are my favorite flowers! And I really would like to know when they are finally going to bloom and thus fill out the shelves of flower vendors!
Secondly, I see you're a fan of pencil skirts, and I should admit on each selfie you have a great outfit. And the varity of skirt colors truly underlines that there is no problem for you to make a choice. Every shows you're chic and fabulous!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Joy, the Spring in your step despite arctic temperatures is highly commendable. I particularly like #1 and #4. Well done. xo

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

My faves are 2,3 and 5, but nr 1 also very springy and elegant! I also love the adition of black for the early spring, you did it beautifully. You have great and wellfitting springy pieces in delightful colors, so you are all prepaired! Thanx for the inspiration!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.  They will help me evaluate what to wear this cold week and beyond.

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

I love you in #1 and #5.  You look wonderful in yellow and the blues in #5 are so pretty!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Knock their socks off! I love these all, Joy.

  • L'Abeille replied 10 years ago

Ooh the first is so amazing! At first I tried to ignore your post because of the title; we are SO far from being able to dress for spring that it just made me resentful (am I petty or what?) But when I saw the thumbnail in the picture-layout view, I couldn't resist peeking. What a gorgeous outfit (the yellow! And the polkadots!) Now I am inspired to start wearing my spring coloured winter weight items..for the blizzard coming this week...

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

Oh Joy! I you look like a breath of fresh spring air. How elegant you are in YELLOW. When I think yellow I think fun, casual, and happy but not elegant and chic. How nice to have my head turned. I also love how yellow looks with your hair especially when you add silver tones to the outfit. I also love the aqua skirt outfit as well. I have no suggestions for you as I think you are all sorted on these early spring looks. Simply fabulous!

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

You are a vision in yellow! Thanks so much for the inspiration. I think I will wear my own yellow raisin skirt tomorrow. I'm ready for spring!
