Trying out the Drapey Top, Ankle Pants & Ankle Straps for the Zoo

My June Challenge outfit today was to shop my closet to breathe new life into an older EF linen tee. It hasn't had much wear because it feels too voluminous and sloppy. I tried to add structure with a semituck and by adding a denim jacket. I also needed to fill in the neckline and used a cotton scarf, rolled, twisted and knotted.
I'm not sure this worked. Does the outfit look like it has enough structure or is it messy?
Shoes may not be true ankle straps with a rather low strap. Jeans are rolled rather than being real ankle pants.

3: denim jacket added
4: slightly different version that I hope shows scarf better
5: zoo bonus

I think this works perfect Joy. The pants and semi tuck add enough structure so that there is no "messiness". And I love the shades of blue together.

Between the jacket, the rolled jeans and the hat, you have plenty of structure. And I love the way the bright top pops against the pale jeans.

I think you look fabulous.  I love it with the jacket.

This is great Joy - it looks perfect to me, good structure, great colors, love the jeans.

Shannon, Dee and Texstyle, I'm happy that you feel there's enough structure.
Sterling, I liked it with the jacket too.
Texstyle, I have loved these Aeropostale jeans that I thrifted for yard work but liked them too much for muddy knees and grass stains. Their fading seems natural.

Aren't you adorable in this outfit formula. So is your zoo bonus shot.

I love the perfectly faded jeans and the proportions of the top and topper! You look wonderful!

I think this is a great top, love the colours and the relaxed air.  I think this is worth repeating!!

    Lookin good!

Hugs, Angie, and thank you for your comment.
Sarah, I appreciate your noticing proportions, something I'm not good at.
Kiwigal, thank you for the vote of confidence to repeat this outfit. It will be a good daily Summer look until it gets too hot for jeans this long or sleeves.
    Thanks, Brooklyn.

Looks great to me. Your friend looks contemplative doesn't she?

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

LOL, Shevia. She was contemplating her food, I think, although our zoo orangutans use laptops. She may be thinking of an one-line friend.

You look just so smashing in this outfit...Probably my favorite of all...I am such a hat person that your little hat made me smile...Something tells me its all happening at the zoo...I do believe it...(remember that?...)
Hope your day was fun and thanks for sharing...I love that!...

Joy, this is gorgeous on you! Plenty of structure. For myself, I find a semi-tuck like this (with whatever neck adjustments are needed) plus rolled pants, skirt, or shorts, offer plenty of structure, and the same is true here for you. It does not look too voluminous, only fashionably fluid. The blue is a fabulous colour for you.

Thanks for the chimp, Joy! You've got the hang of the partial tuck...I'm jealous! Was it the chimp that shared that tidbit of advice?!?

  • Karin L H replied 8 years ago

I definitely think this works! The blue of the top is gorgeous on you. And with the white jacket I think it works extra well!

Crutcher, our day at the zoo was lots of fun with most of the animals very active. I'm turning into more of a hat person, but need to find some in smaller sizes.
Suz, thank you. I knew that you would "get" the challenges with structure and neckline.
Mamavalveeta, my pad keeps trying to change your name to Mama Always there. The partial tuck takes practice I. Front of the mirror, but well worth the time. Even then it just won't work. The little furry friend was more interested in dining etiquette than tucking. :)
Karin LH, thank you for your comment and helping me know what is working.

A great outfit. Perfect for the zoo. And hehe, who is that cutie in the last pic? ;)

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I didn't catch her name but was the smallest in the new orangutan exhibit that day, staying close to a large female who was purposefully spreading a blanket to nap on.
