Trying an Angie ensemble with leopard bag

I wore this ensemble with my black culottes a couple of weeks ago but this week tried it with black wool pants. Cardigan is grey. I tried to lighten the photo to show more detail. The pants look baggier than I thought they were in R/l. They are JCrew from thrifting and have been favorites for years. Maybe it is time to retire them? Or shorten them? Does the silk shirt look too voluminous for me? Suggestions welcomed.

I like that grey cardigan! I think it goes well with the shirt and the fit of the shirt looks good to my eye.

Nice ensemble! As far and the pants are concerned, I do not mind that they are a bit relaxed/baggy, but that is a personal choice. If you are not "feeling them", perhaps it is time to pass them along... or try cropping them to see if that makes them feel more fresh and current.

I like the white blouse with your hair, Joy.

I am questioning the fits of all three pieces, though. Pants and blouse look too big, and the cardigan somewhat stretched at the hem. What do you think?

Joy, your hair with that blouse is magical! I love the grey, leopard, and black with the hit of white. The pants do look on the large side, yes...

Angie and Suz, I need to try these pants again and am surprised by the way they look in the photo. This is an example of being sized out on the small end. The blouse is an XS Nexx piece and is too big for me. The cardigan was deliberately washed and stretched to make it more duster length. I will try to wash and block it back. Is this a bad length for me?
Thank you for addressing these problems. I need to look for replacements as I like the color of the shirt and weight of the wool pants.

I like these together and love the cardigan especially. I do think something is off with the pants. Maybe they should be hemmed shorter or cropped?  I have been cropping my pants that feel a little off and that helps make them feel more current.

I like the idea here, but as Angie already said, the fit looks off.

Thank you, Robin and Lisa. I will try to shorten the pants as that may solve the bunching problem, that or wearing a small heel. The shirt.. I wonder if the volume can be taken in successfully as I love the fabric and color. Anyone tried this?

I think the blouse is nice and OK, but the pants is , to my mind, longer. I have the same problem often when I tray pants from last year or maybe older and solve this to shorten them usually. I think that will solve the problem and it would be different look, as Robin said that helps make them feel more current. I like cardigan and bag.

I kind of agree with the fit comments. I too find the pants a bit on the baggy side. I love the colour palette of this look a lot on you Joy...very chic.

I'm not sure any of the items are worth the effort, Joy. The cardigan looks overly stretched. (Length is fine). The top and bottom are oo big.

LOVE the shorter hair, and sending healing thoughts to hubs tomorrow. Much love to you.

    I <3 that bag, Joy!

Angie, I appreciate your comments so much. Sometimes it is best to let things go. I need to practice PPP.
Thank you too for your wishes for tomorrow. I am worried and frightened for DH and came very close to losing him once.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

The outfit looks excellent despite any fit issues. Best wishes for your DH.

Will be sending up prayers for DH tomorrow, Joy.  I love the way you wear light neutrals!  And I appreciate an opportunity to remember that the size selection is limited on both ends -- it helps a bit to remember that everybody has shopping limitations.

Beth Ann and Shevia, I appreciate your thoughts and prayers for my husband tomorrow.
My fit issues are complicated by a lifetime of wearing clothing that is too big for me, either because smaller sizes were not available or they were handed down from relatives sometimes decades older than I. I really appreciate the input that I get here.
