SYC July: Today's Ensemble and more

The first outfit is inspired by Angie's ensemble post today, without and with the grey topper. Others are recent daily SYC . All are from my summer closet.

Your SYC outfits look stellar Joy! I loooove #1/2, #4, 5, 7/8 -- all so very pretty and fashionable. Much prefer the first outfit without the cardigan but certainly understand the need for it; I think something a bit more structured would be a better juxtaposition with those soft sporty pants. And while I quite like the silhouette in #6, I'm finding the darker tan/khaki pants a bit muddy paired with those rich blues and greens; if they were shorter so you had more of your leg showing I think it could work better, not sure though. Love seeing you in both high and low contrast looks, you wear both really well.

Thank you, Aida, especially for your suggestions. I felt like something was off with #6, but could not figure out what it was. I thought the top might be too short. The cardigan with the first outfit surprised me when seeing the photos. It looks like it has much more volume than it does in the mirror. I ended up changing it for a brownish taupe linen one that is shorter. A grey jacket is a wardrobe hole.

Very fun looks. I lovd the striped top- what is it?

Great looks Joy, I especially like the first outfit and enjoy the colours in 4/5, 7/8. I was interested in Aida's view on 6 because that outfit jarred a little with me too; I find the swirling lines in the top oppose, rather than complement the linen.

Lovely looks as usual, Joy. I particularly like 1-3, as per Angie's ensemble post, and 7/8 - that stripey top is beautiful.

You look amazing as always, Joy. Love #7-8. Deep, rich colors look gorgeous on you :)

Wonderful looks Joy! The ensemble version in #1/2 is fab with the track pants. I also love 4/5 and 7/8. Loving the top in the last look.

I love your style...However, you have spoiled me with wearing the darker colors..remember the blue and black that you looked so smashing in?...The darker 7/8 are also just smashing on you...I like the ligher tops and black pants...I wear such but the dark tops and dark bottoms are wonderful on you...Don't mean to be spreading darth varderish around...smile...

Your closet must be in pretty good shape then because these outfits all look great on you. I particularly like 4/5 and 7/8. I envy your ability to wear sleeveless so well.

I can just about do a version of all of these. We have quite similar selections in wardrobe items and you are a great source for me to shop my wardrobe inspirations. Love your touches.

Unfrumped, the striped tee is Express, but I found it second hand thrifting. It is a favorite.
Lantana, thank you for your helpful comments about #6. I recently added some dark navy pants for summer/fall that may look better with this top.
Thank you, Summer, Maneera, and Diane, for expressing your favorites. It's so helpful yo know what is working or not.
Crutcher, it's good to know that darks work yet. They are really a summer favorite for me. Today I'm wearing a casual column of chocolate and will try to get a photo.
JJ, when I came to YLF, I was embarrassed about arms that seemed to develop a sag and jiggle overnight. Angie convinced me to bare them anyway and it gets too hot in the summer not to.
Archer, I always cherish your comments on my outfits and would love to see your outfits for inspiration.

You are so consistent in your outfits, Joy.  These are all lovely.  My favorites are the tonal look in 2/3 -- so elegant and easy, and the last look.  How does the silk print top work with a skirt?

Joy -- I got so wrapped up in NAS that I forgot to scan the other forum posts.  Always nice to see your WIWs.

I love all your ensembles, my absolute favorite is numbers 1 and 2 because they look so casually elegant and refined.  AND I am definitely buying those Eileen Fisher shoes.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Beth Ann, you know, I have not tried that top with a skirt, at least not this season. I'll try it onSunday. I think it will work well.
Sterling, you will love those EF shoes. I think that they will work on a variety of feet. The front is roomy. I took my regular size and can wear them all day.

Love all the looks - you look great, Joy!

You look great in all of these! I especially love you in the high contrast black & white looks; they make your hair just sparkle. :D

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you , Astrid and E. E, I am very interested to find out how others see me in the high contrast and black and white outfits because I have been wondering if I should stop wearing this sort of thing .

  • kerlyn replied 8 years ago

I also love #1 and 2.  The black and white is great on you!  But all of your outfits look so elegant!

I love the outfit with the grey cardi, cream top and black "dressy sweats"...I just bought something similar from Eileen Fisher. You inspired me!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

You will love those EF "dressy sweats". They are perfect for hot weather but can work in cooler seasons too.
