SYC July: Citron and black

Continuing my June challenge of finding new outfits in my summer closet, I needed to dress for an appointment on an hot humid day. The Capri pants are silk pull on from last year. I usually wear them rolled but show them two lengths here. The top has a bit of diagonal drape. It is also silk, Classiques Entiere from about two summers ago. The silk jacket is from my funeral capsule and is a textured silk. It turned out to be too hot to wear every indoors.
What do you think? Is this too much contrast? What is the best length of the pants? How can I improve or vary this outfit?

#2 is my favourite - I like the summery feel that seeing your arms & legs brings.

Love that top on you Joy. It's killer! You look fantastic! I don't think the jacket is necessary at all. I love the pants at both lengths, but I prefer #1 as this is a dressier top. #2 is perfect for a cool casual look that's very modern.

Joy! this is beautiful. I love the length at which you are wearing the pants in #1. It's elegant. Those shoes are very cool, I love seeing them with your outfits. Joy you seem to have a very generous wardrobe with lots of variety?

Improving this????? OMG this is as perfect as beautiful! Very brigh. Very cool. Very edgy! Love the shoes. Love the top! Love the colors. Love them....AAAAAAAL!!!:-)

Love the top. I prefer the length of the pants to be shorter. This length compliments the shoes.

This is a lovely summer outfit, Joy.  No need to change anything IMO.

Lovely outfit...I love citron but let me tell you, I love those s hoes......!!!!

The wrap top is beautiful. I think both pant lengths work but no 1 is more elegant, no 2 more casual.

I was incredibly excited to see your pictures based on your title.  I love this color combination!!

I do not think it is too much contrast, but I always veer toward contract in my own dressing so this would look "normal" to me.  I prefer the length in numbers 2 and 3.  My favorite is number 2, follow closely by number 3.

A "10" in my book.  Take care.

This is beautiful, Joy! That's a lovely top and perfect outfit for an appointment. You look so pulled together and stylish. I like the pants at length 1 the best but 2 is also great.

  • Daria replied 8 years ago

It's such a lovely color on you! I prefer sans topper, but they are all wonderful really.

I love this top! The citron is awesome, and looks great with the black. You look fab.

  • Dee replied 8 years ago

You look great in citron! I think both pant lengths look fine. The shorter length reads a little more casual while the longer one looks a little dressier.

This is a great outfit!  I love those shoes and the citron color of your top. I don't think you need to change a thing.

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

Gorgeous, Joy! That is a great top; I love the lines. I have no suggestions for improvement. Perfect.

What a lovely top! I think I prefer the outfit without the jacket as it looks 'enough' and I don't mind either pant length as they give a slightly different vibe. I guess maybe the length in #1 wins by an edge perhaps. You look great!

Love the look of this top, and all the outfits work.  I prefer #1 and agree it just looks more dressy-casual for the top, whereas #2 is intentionally sporty, not necessary but okay, and I like the pant-shoe proportions in 1.
The black shoes are perfect for the modern ankle-pant look, and I think the black jacket works fine if a topper is needed, but maybe you could SYC for handbag or even different topper for a lighter look. A print  or 2-tone handbag with some similar colors would be fab, but not necessary. Metallics can be weird with citrus brights, so would have to experiment. Pure white might interfere with the nice intentional color palette  you've got going. Sorry not much help but just looking for more "lightening" ideas without messing it up.

I love both pants lengths. I think I just love the outfit in general. The color, the shoes, everything. My favorite thing about this look is knowing that it's all silk. The fabrication elevates the outfit to classy and elegant

  • Thistle replied 8 years ago

Wow, so fab!!  Terrific way to SYC!  I love the top, especially, the dramatic cut and color, and the sandals really do lengthen the leg line while still letting you stay cool.

You look wonderful in citron!  What a beautiful silk top.  I think it looks great with black - not too much contrast at all.

  • tulle replied 8 years ago

What an elegantly draped top--exactly the sort of thing that's necessary (but hard to find) to look complete when it's too hot for a 3rd piece. I like both pant lengths, though I slightly prefer the longer length. I don't know how you could improve this, unless you find a necklace that adds an extra dimension.  But when it's hot, jewelry becomes unappealing, I know.

You have a funeral capsule!!!!!!! OMG

    Love the outfit, very chic.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

I want that gorgeous top! 2 is perfect and so summer lovely.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Killer, and I like #2 best.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Add me to the rave reviews, particularly of #2. I MUCH prefer the shorter length on you. My brain is vaguely recalling that you have a yellow blazer, am I way off? If you do, that could be a super fun twinset sort of pairing.

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

Love! The blouse is a great shape, the shoes are perfect here and the whole thing is flattering, current and chic!

    eta love the knee length!

  • viva replied 8 years ago

I love the shorter length pant but think it's fab that you have versatility in these pants. The top is fantastic. What a great summer look!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Sorry thatyesterdaywas so busy that I didn't get back here. I enjoyed reading all the comments and ideas. It sounds like either length works depending on the vibe is going for.
Viva, I can also wear the pants at their full length that comes about 3 inches above my ankles and has cute little fabric covered buttons, but that length looks off to my eye.
Aida, I don't have a yellow blazer but think I have marked one for consideration in Finds. I have an orange blazer that could be interesting and bright. I'll add a yellow blazer to my short list of items to look for. I'd love having one. Thank you for the idea.
Angie, a Killer! I am thrilled. Thank you for giving your preference.
Aleta, I do indeed have a funeral capsule and it has been wonderful to have when one's thoughts are not very coherent. I found the need when my mother died unexpectedly and I ended up having to try to find an outfit at a small town Walmart. And vowed never again. That jacket has been to lots of funerals.
Tulle, good idea to add a necklace. A pendant on a chain is usually not too bad except on the hottest days.
Jenn, yes all silk is the best! I hand wash it and hang to dry, so not even fussy.
Unfrumped, thank you for such a complete reply. I pulled that dark leopard handbag because originally I was going to wear leopard flats. It is screaming for something lighter and I don't own the right piece. Pewter is my fallback option.
Thank You, everyone who stopped by and commented. It helps so much
