(Sort of) Ruffled Hem Top and Bonus Ruffled Hair

Aida gave me some tips on using salt spray. What go you think? I'm willing to work at this if it looks ok. My usual hair style is not much trouble, but this would be super easy. But do I look like and old crazy lady?
Does this top work? I have usually layered over it.

The salt spray gives you a great hip vibe, Joy. More RATE than what you usually have. I happen to like it a lot but it is up to you and those close to you. If y'all are in sync with it, I say do this to your hair when the look calls for it! You are fortunate that you have such a versatile hair style and cooperative hair!

Your hair looks terrific!  I love it when people with natural wave let it show.  So pretty.

I love the outfit and the hair - YLF!!

NO, you do NOT look like a crazy old lady!  I love this!  Great for a change now and then, and verrrry sexy :)

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

    LOVE.

YOU LOOK GORGEOUS with the wavy 'do. My word. .

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Ooooh the hair! SO FUN. I like it a lot, but then my hair is almost always crazy so you can take that with a grain of salt (haaaah get it ~~). Did you scrunch the bottoms up at all? If you wanted a slightly tamer effect you could try adding a little smoothening product -- a smaaaall bit in your hand with a touch of water added, and gently scrunched into the ends. But I really do like it more frayed like this. Perfectly beachy. How did you feel? It's a lot less polished that I'm used to seeing you, though the sleek outfit offsets it wonderfully to me.

With that hair and that outfit you look like summer incarnate.

    Oh. My. GRACIOUS!!!

You look incredible, Joy!! I absolutely LOVE the hair.

I need to learn about salt spray. Yeah. I know my hair is too short now..but...please fill me in.

This top is also stunning on you and I want one. Did you get it at the Rack? Oh how I wish I had this option, or simply more places where I could try on EF in approximate sizes and therefore find out what works for me. What size is this one?

  • Vildy replied 7 years ago

I didn't mean it as comedy, y'know. I grew up in California and you look like a California girl.

Oh gosh, Joy, this is a beautiful look. Love the beachy waves with the loose layers and cropped pants. Gorgeous!

  • catgirl replied 7 years ago

Oh, the hair is wonderful!  As it the whole look.

  • cobaltblue replied 7 years ago

So fun, Joy! I've been meaning to try out a salt spray recipe, and you've given me the push to do it.

  • Debbie replied 7 years ago

I love your hair!! You find the best EF pieces!

Kellygirl, Bonnie, Aliona, Una, and Debbie, Thank you all for your comments and encouragement.
Shelia, Except for one friend who really liked the hair and DH, who was confused by it, I didn't get much feedback here.
Laura, I have very little wave in my hair but have a little for the first time. One comb through when it's wet, though, straightens it immediately.
Lisa, if this hairstyle can help me look sexy, it is a miracle.
Angie, thank you. You always make me feel more confident when I step out of my comfort zone.
Aida, thank you for enabling the hair. I did try scrunching the bottom but it is still very straight. It felt fun and young but I think DH likes a more polished look. His eye may just need to adjust. I will try some smoothing product next time.
Vildy, your comment was beautiful. It made me smile. I wish there were a poetic button. Growing up with Beach Boy tunes, I would love to look like a California girl! You are a sweetheart.
Suz, Aida had some helpful comments on my thread with the neckerchief. I picked up a very inexpensive salt spray at Target to try before ordering the one Aida uses from Amazon. I followed her instructions and those on the spray, using the diffuser on the hair dryer to partly dry the hair first.
I did get the top at the Rack. It is a Small. An XS would be better but I wanted it and at the reduced price thought it would be worth trying. I may have the Rack's wonderful tailor take it up some in the shoulders. Thank you for your encouragement.
Cobalt blue, if the salt spray recipe works out, please share.

Interesting how the salty waves make your hair shine, the platinum white sparkles - counter intuitive but that's what I see.
I really like it, it looks more alive and modern to me than a perfect blow out - but you have to remember I come from a country where people don't like to coiff and discipline their hair.
I think the right balance would be wavy length but no fuzziness at the crown - or that's what I'd like on myself if I took the time to coiff mine.
(I see no issue with the top, great outfit).

  • Summer replied 7 years ago

Joy, you could never look like a crazy old lady. My first thought was how youthful you look with your wavy hair - and by youthful I mean fresh and lively, not juvenile.
    I love the top, too.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Skylurker, thank you for your thoughtful words. I will have to work with hair and product to get it right. We are having very humid weather and every little hair wants to turn to frizz.
Thank you, Summer. I am feeling refreshed by the wavy hair.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

    You look wonderful!

Joy, you look fantastic, lovely top..... hair make you younger, I can only say wonderful.

  • Lyn D. replied 7 years ago

YLF Joy, and Yay for the softly wavy hair with the flowy top here!

  • Aquamarine replied 7 years ago

You look fantastic! The wavy hair is so modern and YOUNG looking, not crazy old lady. I love it!

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

    Love! You look incredible!

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

Love the fun outfit and the wavy hair.  It's a fun change.  I occasionally use the salt spray as well, and the texture is always nice.

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

If that is crazy old lady sign me up. This fit is so so lovely. I wonder do you feel comfortable in it? Is it a new silhouette for you?

  • Colette replied 7 years ago

You look like a very stylish lady! Not old, not crazy. I love the soft waves in your hair, it's a nice way to change things up a bit. I made note of Aida's salt spray recommendation because I have wavy/frizzy hair and always blow dry. In the humid weather my hair usually ends up pulled back or up which means all summer. Thanks for the instructions.
