Playing with a Gingham Shirt

Today Angie's blog post inspired my outfit. I like gingham, especially in spring. My challenge was to find a different way to wear a citron gingham shirt that I got from Una on the Style Exchange. I usually wear it with blue, olive, or grey jeans. Today I wore it with white Kut Catherine jeans and, because I like citron with grey, decided to change things by adding silver...jacket, flats, bag. I changed shoes from pointy silver loafers to my old Dr Scholls for wet pavement, so am showing both in Finds.
I welcome your comments and suggestions on anything here. My goal is improvement and also editing out pieces that are not fab. Warning: I'm looking puffy today.

Oh, wow, Joy! This is a great outfit. I love the glam element with the silver. What a fresh, chic look. The citron gingham is gorgeous on you, too.

Thank you, Sharan. I was hoping for a different look by adding the silver.

Fabulous! I love it with the silver never thought about doing that.

Fabulous outfit, Joy! Really fresh and vivid. Love it on you. Also love that you have already tried out that custom finds feature. It may be a while before I get that up and running but I see its value for sure!

I'm not a fan of gingham--Tammy and the Bachelor with Debbie Reynolds, etc--but this is amazing and fabulous. Wow!

Great look and I will be rethinking gingham.

Debbie, thank you for your comment. I thought gingham with silver would be a bit unexpected.
Suz, thank you. The custom collect feature is very easy to use and will help me form capsules and a packing guide.
MsMaven, I was attempting to give gingham a different look. It helps that the shirt color is not traditional, I think.

Gingham & glitz--how great!  I remember Rachylou comparing someone's outfit to a gin & tonic once, and that's how this one strikes me.

Superb re- mixing. I love that this outfit has " personality" and still so polished.

Wow, look what happens when you get creative!

Gingham has done a transformation...did you know?...Where it once was indeed was cutesy and ribbons, it now has become its own attitudeifstyledright...Seeing your style with citron, I am assured that you received this memo..smile...

My shirt!  So perfect on you.  I wish it had fit me just a little looser...

Beautiful outfit Joy, so clever and unexpected to add silver to citron gingham.   Love the colors together.

  • Vicki replied 8 years ago

Well, Joy, this is really cute and I love your gingham choice of color and pairing it with metallics.  Both flats are really cute, round or pointy-toed.

Love the palette. And wish I looked that puffy :-)

It was a busy day with an all day retreat on Liturgical Architecture , and it was uplifting to find all these lovely comments.
Tulle, that is funny. I will try for more "gin and tonic" outfits in the future.
Unfrumped, I'm thrilled that this gingham mashup looked polished!
TraceyLiz, you discovered my dark secret. Getting dressed is my creative outlet.
Crutcher, yes, I'm a failure at cutesy. Just not me.
Una, the shirt is fabulous. I love it.
Tanya, Olivegreen and Vicki, I'm glad you think the citron-silver works.
Thank you, Torontogirl, for your encouragement. I did get a nice compliment from a young complete stranger at the grocery store.
