OBG #2

Today I pulled more OBGs from my November 21. I am wearing a dark brown cashmere cardigan that is at least 12 years old or from whenever brown was last more popular than grey, an old Chaus turtle neck from the same era, old dark brown booties from before booties were popular and ancient dark brown tights that you cannot see but show when I sit down. The wide plaid pants are last year, as is the tiger print bag. The orange pearl jewelry was made by me about 8 years ago before a jewelry making friend got really sick and died.
The oldies are goodies because the cardigan has not pilled in all that time and is warm and layers well. The turtle neck is the color of my eyes. The booties are very comfortable with and without socks. They will be replaced when I find the right pair. These do not have grippy soles and are too big at the top. The pearls are full of memories.
I welcome your comments and suggestions.

Such a polished outfit and love the surprise of the Tiger Bag with plaid pants :)  Inspirational.

I love your explanations, Joy, and this line made my day: booties from before booties were popular.

Those plaid wide legs are gorgeous!

Very elegant! Dark brown items are hard to find, this cardigan in dark chocolate is perfect. Hard to believe that it is 12 years old.
works really well with contemporary pants.

FABULOUS! The pattern mixing is fun an effective! The sentimental jewellery is comforting. I'm impressed.

You whacked it out of the ballpark wearing a belt bag that way :)

Winner! Love the outfit, simple and stylish at the same time!

Really lovely modern look - love the bag here!! Stylish and warm.

Thank you all so much for looking and commenting. You have made my world a better place after a long phone call about the confusion of trying to compare medical insurance plans. It seems that our medical insurance company is dropping us after several years and we must scramble to find new plans. This may involve looking for new doctors. My old mind is not able to handle all the details.
Star, each day I look over my small bags to see what will look best with my outfit. I had no brown so with with the tiger as closest.
Suz, these wide pants legs seem to even out my body and disguise the skinny legs underneath.
Irina, the cardigan came from a store in a mall neither of which even exist any more. It is time that brown returns.
Angie, I hoped that the wide pants, pattern mixing, and way I wore that bag would help these old pieces and dated color look more modern. Thank you for the encouragement to DYOT.
Minaminu, Sal and Cardiff girl, thank you for the kind comments.

Thank you, Rachylou and slim cat.

Another great outfit - browns are looking very fresh now, it is great that you kept these pieces, I particularly love the check pants with your tiger print bag - stunning pattern mixing.

I do have the look in nr 3 head to toe, myself, too- and that  means big LOVE!:-)

Sweet, Ruth. Can you ask your children to help you find a new medical plan. It’s so overwhelming and complicated. Much love and good luck. Xo

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

Lovely pattern mixing and earthtones, Joy!  Love the brown on brown, too. It is nice to see brown showing up a little these days!

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

I love the mixing of new and old. This is fab, it has an easy comfortable elegance to it. And the bag adds a nice unexpected pop

Thank you all for your comments. Browns do feel fresh again. Angie, the kids are overwhelmed already with jobs and the little ones. I hate to bother them with this chore. My diabetes meter and parts and DH’s CPACK machine are considered hard items under pharmaceuticals which complicates everything. Some of our doctors are not in the network and considered specialists.
I need to take a phone call and will be back to comment more later.

Beautiful!  I love dark brown.  It is such a rich, warm colour.  You have styled your pieces so well, as you always do.  These are definitely oldies but goodies.

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

OBG for sure.  Looks 2020 to me!  The tiger belt bag is street style cool!

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

You look so sophisticated and posh in this - very Ralph Lauren. YLF!

I agree with Angie - if you can recruit help to navigate the medical insurance, why not - I don't envy you trying to work that out :(

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, nemosmom. I would like to see more browns show up. Camel is combing back and looks fresh. Maybe more shades will follow.
Thank you, kkards. I do lots of mixing of old and new. Even most of new- to - me is old and from thrift or consignment shops. I wear something second hand almost daily. Today it is the little black and furry crossbody bag. If I want plain black, I turn it around.
Thank you, style fan and Runcarla and torontogirl. I’ll take street style cool and Ralph Lauren. DH and I have read hundreds of pages from insurance companies. I read 600 today. It is all so confusing and hard to compare. So much is couched in vague terms. We may just have to plunge in and change next year if it does not work out. For now we think we will go with a PPO. So we can keep the same doctors even at more expense.

Fabulous outfit and perfect example of combining old and true classics with more modern styling. Good luck with the insurance issues!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Shevia. I am thrilled that such a stylish lady likes this outfit. I hope you and your family stay well and happy.

  • Liesbeth replied 3 years ago

This looks so modern you look like you walked out of a catalogue; you could never tell some of the pieces are over 10 years old.
Maybe I shouldn't press this issue but one of your kids may feel this kind of research to be no bother at all. I like helping my mom with things like choosing a new phone even if my life is also very busy. She helps me a lot too, like babysitting so we can have a night off once in a while ;).

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Liesbeth, thank you so much. One of our sons lives and works in Japan and has been there over 12 years now. He has no idea of American medicine. The one here might be willing to do some research. I will try to approach it.
I am thrilled that what I am wearing still looks current. The replacement “suit” has a longer jacket and wider pants. I wish it had the texture that this one has. It is stretchy and a smaller size.
