Neutral Spring Drape 3 ways

Inspired by Angie's blog post, I wore a couple versions of neutral spring drape. The white and navy version was for a warmer day. The black sweater was for a cold morning. I wore a leather coat with this about the color of the booties. Are these too high contrast for me?
There was a third version on Saturday morning that did not get photographed that used my color block poncho. I will try to recreate it and get a photo. ETA: close to Saturday version except I used an animal print blouse as a top rather than the striped tee.

Love both versions Joy!  I like the high contrast on you, very dramatic.

I like both, they have a different feel. And I see nothing wrong with the high contrast on you

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Tanya and Chirico. Your comments are very helpful. I'm glad these high contrast outfits are working out.

I like both versions, but the asymmetrical drape just at the right length of that top, played against the crisp skirt and booties, is my favorite. I love white footwear on you.

Looking good Joy :) I love the poncho style knit.

You know what Joy? I think you can wear high contrast. You look great in both looks so I cant pick a fave...love the silhouettes and accessories too. Fab!

  • Summer replied 8 years ago

Both looks are wonderful on you Joy.  I think you can definitely take the high contrast.  More love here for the poncho.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Kari, Caro and Summer, I'm glad that poncho sweater is working out with the skirt. In the past it has been part of a column of black.
Diane and Summer, thank you for addressing the high contrast. Sometimes I feel stumpified by it but maybe the assymetry helps.

Joy -- Both renditions are gorgeous. You can definitely handle high contrast. I love your accessories (scarf and bag) in #1-#2. They really make the outfit. And the poncho in #3-#4 is stunning on you. I love it paired with the lighter skirt and booties.

    FABULOUS. You nailed it, Joy.

  • texstyle replied 8 years ago

I like both and think you look great in them. I prefer #1 because I love navy so much.

  • Mirjana replied 8 years ago

I like both versions, you look great in them. I want that  asymmetrical drape, so beautiful with  the crisp skirt and booties, it is my favorite.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

These are both great looks.  I usually have problems with white footwear and black pants but I should take some tips from you.  The shoes in #1 look great with the pants.  I love the asymmetrical top in #2

Thankyou for your thoughtful comments, ElCee, Texstyle, Mirjana and Sara. Sara, white footwear bookends my hair these days, so I can't get enough of it. Texstyle, the navy and white outfit came at the end of last week's experiments with a navy and blush capsule as I tried to adapt it to the weather and Angie's blog post.

You should be an EF Fisher spokesperson or model.  You wear that label so well!  You look great in all of these!

  • merwoman replied 8 years ago

STUNNING! Love the high contrast, and the beautiful drape of the garments on you - so chic!

  • replied 8 years ago

Joy, I love 1. The linen top, scarf, shoes and bag are all perfect!

  • Aquamarine replied 8 years ago

I LOVE high contrast on you. Perhaps it's your hair, but you can definitely wear it. It is NOT wearing you.

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

You look great in all the pics. I like the high contrast on you. No 1 is my fave.

  • Zibbets replied 8 years ago

Joy, all three of these are fabulous! I love the blue and white and the poncho especially, but #2 is killer too! Well done!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

The high contrast works and looks fantastic. I like the third outfit a lot too!

  • Beth Ann replied 8 years ago

You look beautiful, Joy!  The first and last pics are my faves!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Greycat, I'd love to be an Eileen Fisher spokesperson or model, but even if they called, I have to chose EF pieces carefully or they overwhelm. Thank you for the kind comment.
Merwoman, Aquamarine, and Brooklyn, I'm so glad that you feel the high contrast works on me.
Smittie, Brooklyn and Zibbets, thank you for the encouraging comments, especially about #1. That was a bit out of my comfort zone with the booties.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Shevia and Beth Ann, love you!

  • Cerinda replied 8 years ago

They work beautifully on you.  Love your tonal, textured accessories in #1.

  • Mamavalveeta03 replied 8 years ago

If I saw you wearing any of those outfits on the street I'd probably chase you down and ask you: 1)where you shop? And 2) where did you get that fab haircut? Bring on the chic!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Cerinda and Mamavelveeta. I do most of my shopping at Nordstrom's and The Rack as they are a convenient distance. I watch for Angie picks and Eileen Fisher on sale.
It is getting too warm to wear the outfits as pictured. Maybe my challenge this week should be neutral spring drape for warmer weather.

  • Peri replied 8 years ago

How did I miss this the first time. OMG you look gorgeous!!! Special love for #4-5...jeez that's perfection.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 8 years ago

You did a great job, love them all, but my favorite is the white with blues.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Love them all, and so cool you were using that poncho for the drape theme, this  was also my idea to try it, just couldn't reach to actually doing it....YLF for sure!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, Peri, TraceyLiz and Lyn. I'm trying for spring drape again this week, a version for slightly warmer weather. A Christmas gift poncho will make an appearance although I think it has been in at least one WIW. You give me confidence to try more draped styles on my curveless body.
