My challenge on ElCee's thread is to wear toppers this week that don't play well under coats. My difficult topper today for teaching and dinner out....long jacket ( often too long under other coats) or poncho? Either would work for the occasion.

Which should I wear? Would black booties be a better choice of footwear?

Hi Joy! When you say it's "too long under other coats", do you mean you prefer the topmost coat to hide the one beneath completely? I understand what you mean, I guess I've just given up on that since it seems impossible to have that many outerwear coat options. (Although looking at my mudroom, I seem to be making an attempt.) :)
I would say with black at the top of the outfit, black footwear to me seems more grounding than the gray. If you have gray on top, then the gray shoes give a nice bookending effect.

I like the long jacket best - but the poncho is cool too! I might vote for black shoes.
