Neckerchief with ROG inspired casual outfit

The outfit (1/2) is mostly ROG with s neckerchief added inspired by Angie's Blog. 3/4 is the way I mostly wear bandanas. I think I started as an attempt to reduce the openness of wide summer necklines. Suggestions and comments welcomed.
ETA: please excuse the shower hair and no makeup

...yep it sure does hurt...(per suz)...looks terrific. I'm drooling over how you've elevated this whole look with those shoes.....this is going on my "try it" list.  I need to troll through your finds...uh oh that sounds kinda bad....I mean it in the best possible complimentary way LOL.

Love this look Joy - you demonstrate how to do the neckerchief with real style!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

You are such a cutie patootie. I can just eat you up, Joy.

    *chomp, chomp, chomp*

  • Bonnie replied 8 years ago

The outfit is great and the scarf really ups the outfit to "wow".

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Lovely, Joy! I really like the dark paired with faded denim and plenty of skin. VERY striking. And I gotta say, the wet hair has some fun rockin' texture. Have you ever tried popping some salt spray in your hair to rough it up? Neckerchief looks perfectly at home on you. I prefer it as in your outfit in #1/2 over the tied necklace look in #3/4.

Thank you all so much for your comments and suggestions.
Aida, I would love to give my hair a different look. Is there a brand of salt spray that you would recommend or do you actually mix salt with water? I would like to try this.
Bonnie, Texstyle, thank you for commenting on the scarf. I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking it adds something.
    Angie, you are so kind.
Chris, the shoes were a favorite for me last summer. They are DV brand and very comfortable. My custom find is below.
Thank you, Shedev, Avemaria, Shannon, Jane and El Cee, for your encouraging words.
Suz, being called hip made my day!

    Hi Joy --

The cowboy knot version really suits this look! I feel like this is more skin than you usually show and boy does it look good on you. Sass + class!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

I use the one below, though it's a little pricey. Most of the salt sprays out there are too drying for me -- fine, thin, and curly doesn't work well to add too much dryness! This one is less "salty" (and actually is a little hydrating) than many, so the texture it adds is less noticeable. My sis has straight hair and it was more noticeable in her hair than in mine, but still not overly tousled looking. I like it best when used on dry or almost-dry hair; I spray a little aimed at the root but far enough out that it gets hair too, then do a quick blow dry (like under 30 seconds quick) angled up into the hair and finish with a good shake.

You are the epitome of cool.  What a fab outfit.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Vic, I could have posted this under Angie's blog post on our summer body. Thank you. At almost 70, I don't expect that showing more skin looks good.
Aida, thank you for posting this product and how you use it. This sounds pretty easy for summer
Torontogirl, I'm smiling. I don't think anyone has ever thought I looked edgy before.
Smittie and Robin, I'm so happy that you think the scarf looks ok.
Deborah, ditto what I replied to Torontogirl. I doubt anyone thinks I look cool very often, but I like it. It is especially wonderful coming from you, who always looks cool.

Agreeing with all the other Fabbers about how amazing you look! I, too, like your textured hair here. Wear the outfit and hair a lot this summer!

Oh, yes, definitely a hip look. You wear a bandana so well, Joy, and I love your take on the inspiration photo (even though I guess it's technically, the ROG's take on it--ha ha!).

  • Vicki replied 8 years ago

Wow, wow, wow!  Joy, you beat the model inspiration photo by miles.  I was blown away by photo #1 and you put it all together beautifully.
