My blouse with gathers from an early NAS

The first NAS I participated in I got this blouse which is still in my closet. It is a good example of the type Angie describes with gathers near the neck.
It has sleeves that fall just over the elbow and the sleeve is gathered at that point. I have not worn this blouse much because it is for cool weather. It is polyester which is warm on me and sheer enough to need an under layer which adds more insulation. I usually wear it over a cami or tank but have worn it over black silk or heattec long underwear tops in mid winter and sprayed warm.
This style works well under jackets or cardigans. It is still in my closet because I like the colors and pattern and how it works in fall weather.
Is the pussy bow looking too dated?
Today I am wearing it with black Paige Hoxton jeans from last year’s NAS and EF espadrilles. I later put a rust long cardi on top. Under it I am wearing a cotton black tank, my bag was the light tan in the blouse in an ostrich skin texture.

Oh! I love this blouse on you Joy!
The colors and style are perfect for today...NOT dated at all! YLF!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Taylor, I am happy that you feel that the blouse is not dated. I do enjoy wearing it as a break from knits and button down shirts.

  • Jenni NZ replied 4 years ago

Wow Joy I really like it too. I have seen pussy bow blouses in our very latest Spring fashion magazines so I don’t think they are dated. How many NASs have you done- about 10? I see you’ve been on YLF about 11 years from your profile. A true stalwart!

It still rocks! Totally a statement piece.

  • Cardiff girl replied 4 years ago

That is a lovely blouse, and the pussyfooted cat bow is subtle not overly large so I think that it won’t date.

  • Liesbeth replied 4 years ago

Great blouse. The color palette makes it look very 2019 imo. Like jenni, I keep seeing pussy bows around so I don't think the are dated.

Beautiful blouse, looks current and actually quite on trend to me. You look great in it! To me blouses (when I manage to find one that I like) are also a nice break from the knit tops and button downs. I see why you’ve kept yours.

The colors in this are fab. Totally current. And the fit is fab. Love this. Perfect illustration of shopping your closet

I think it looks beautiful on you - not dated at all. The colors and pattern are really fun, too. So glad you kept it!

  • kellygirl replied 4 years ago

I still have that blouse too. I was just looking at it yesterday thinking I need to get that into rotation.  It looks fab on you.

  • Katerina replied 4 years ago

What a lovely blouse! It suits you beautifully. I really like the pattern and the gathered neckline with the pussy bow. I think pussy bows are classic.
    I vote YAY.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you all so much for commenting. The blouse will stay. Jenni, I have lost count of NAS years but have really liked everything I have bought; In fact, that blouse is probably older than I thought. I used to wear it at first with a black leather pencil skirt that I no longer have. It is perfect for transitional fall weather. I need to find a way to style it for spring. Any ideas?

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Well I hope pussy bows are not dated, because I have recently bought some! I love this top on you, the colours are so pretty.

  • Erin replied 4 years ago

I don’t think the blouse looks dated at all. It looks great on you, and I love the colors.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

I remember the NAS blouse from LOOOOOONG ago. Still so fab on you. Nice fit.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Bijou, Erin and Angie. Bijou, if you are wearing pussy bow blouses, I feel I am in stylish company.
Erin, the colors were a rare find back then. Most offerings were in cool colors, so I grabbed this piece as a wildcard.
Angie, it was so LOOOOOONG ago, wasn’t it? I remember you client, Karen, looking stunning in it.

That’s a beautiful blouse & it looks beautiful on you. I like those colors.
I don’t think of Pussy Bow blouses as dated at all.

  • Bonnie replied 4 years ago

That is a beautiful blouse and I don't see that it is dated at all. It has striking, colorful print that looks timeless.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

    Thank you, Opaline.
Angie, I can’t resist the oldies-but-goodies. Your picks are the best. I would otherwise have overlooked this blouse because of the puffy sleeves.
Bonnie, thank you. I will continue to wear the blouse with confidence.

  • Aquamarine replied 4 years ago

Oh yes, keep wearing it. Great colors for fall, but you could wear it with beige/tan bottoms in the spring too.

  • Windchime replied 4 years ago

You certainly made a good buying choice when you added this blouse to your wardrobe over a decade ago. As others have said, the colors are current, and it looks great on you.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Aquamarine. That is a good idea for spring. I hope I can find some beige or tan bottoms. Right now I don’t own any. Other springy colors could also be worn with them.
Thank you, Windchime. The blouse was an Angie pick, I think. Now it’s still in like-new shape, although it has seen many washings.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

I like the pattern too - still looks great on you!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Shevia. I’m happy that you think it still looks ok. I thought last year I would replace it with a plaid flannel shirt but flannel shirts feel too masculine even in soft colors. I think the ones shown by Johnny Was that have lots of embroidery on top of the plaid may work but they are very pricy.

  • cindysmith replied 4 years ago

Joy, I think the bow is one of those classic details that comes and goes in and out of trendiness but never looks dated.

And when I read your opening line, "The first NAS I participated in..." I had to giggle a little to myself. Here we are, all of us scattered to the four corners of the earth with our respective Bricks and Mortar Nordie's stores, and yet NAS turns into a bit of an online flash mob around here. I love it
    :-D

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

Great outfit, Joy. I really like the silky, feminine blouse with the raw-edged jeans.

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

I remember the blouse Angie featured it on one of her early clients, years ago-and I admired it so much then and now! Love the colors and the  pattern, love this look, too!

  • replied 4 years ago

Doesn't look dated at all to me either! The bow looks more subtle to me, since its printed, than it would on a solid color blouse.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Suntiger, good point about the bow. Thanks for pointing that out.
Lyn, yes Angie showed us this blouse on, I think, her client Karen. I tried to copy that outfit and need to look for that post again.
Firecracker, I had not thought of that juxtaposition when I put the outfit together, but it is a bit of a surprise pairing.
Cindy, yes NAS is exciting. I love to see what everyone picks.
Thank you all for your comments. They are a great help to me.
